Don’t Peek Behind The Curtains

Oh today’s the day I announce my campaign. They’ll rip each other apart. They’ll argue pointless arguments like:

”Oh he’s too young” and “He’s so radical!” maybe even “He’s an idiot lol”

I laugh at the thought. As Instep closer and closer to the stage I can’t help but wonder if she is here. Aliya. She is such a pain in my ass but boy do I look forward to getting into it with her. She’s so beautiful, yet so annoying, if she wasn’t such a goody-two shoes she’d be perfect. Alas that’s not what fate had in mind for us, this is equally entertaining I guess. I suppose this should be a little nerve wracking, here I am waiting for the man at podium to call me up for my big moment, but no the only thing I feel now is pure unadulterated

excitement.

”Ladies and gentlemen, Cassidy Casper!”

Oh already? I’m up? One step after another I scan the audience, each one of their faces is so... captivated some more scared then others. I catch a glimpse of Aliya, her yellow eyes shining filled, with determination as they glared at my podium. I made sure to smile in her direction first and watch her. It’s almost as if she’s watching me shoot a man on stage not get ready at a podium. I clear my throat and make sure not to stare at her the entire time but to evenly distribute my gaze upon these simpletons.

”Ahem, hey everybody how are we doing on this fine afternoon?” they all cheered, except for her.

God what’d I wish I could do to them, how I could really make them suffer, but this is the way that’ll do it best. This way I can do it, for a long, long time.

”I’m sure most of you have probably guessed why i’m here and why you’re here. Our great city has lost it’s way, it has conformed to the will of the weak and worthless, the minority who contribute nothing to our society” some of them were already getting riled up while others looked horrified, good. She looked more determined then ever, damn was this exciting. “And so I am running for mayor to fix these issues, the hierarchy that keeps our society spinning must be held together! For the better of all of us not just the small few who suffer from it!”

That one got me some cheers and those who cheered were being glared at just as much as me, lucky for me I was great at hiding my amusement.

”Those of you who have been following my work know how ionate I feel about the degradation of our world, and I want to start here right in our city, some of you may think that because i’m young, that I’m immature, or that i’m reckless, or unwise, or even inexperienced. None of that is true, I have been working and learning about this field since I was fifteen and now I will use all that knowledge to save our city at last!” I lost some there it’a fine i’ll get them back with this next one.

”As your mayor, I swear that we will restore this city to it’s former greatness!” The classic ‘broad greatness talk’ oldest trick in the book. These degenerates, they are all so gullible. Those who I lost with my last tirade came back with even greater loudness this time. The cheering was deafening and Aliya looked scared, good, she should be.

If there was one genuine thing about this whole evening it would be smile during my speech. The more I talk, the more polarized the room gets. I can see people shoving, I immediately start frowning when it gets out of hand, can’t risk getting caught being so happy at that sight now can I?

”Calm, calm down all of you” to no avail. It takes all I have not to smile, one of the men from backstage ushers me away

”Come on sir we have to get you out of here” as i’m guided to the exit me and Aliya’s eyes meet again, I smirk victoriously and she grimaces, and then I lose her in the crowd. My frown now genuine I still get to leave
