Canis was born in a small pack of Abyss Dragons, the only Trench Dragon among. Because of this, and the fact that he grew twice as large as everyone else, Canis was mostly neglected and avoided. This was also because of how intimidating his family found him, even his brother never spoke to him. But Canis learned to get used to it and except the fact that he was different.

One day, whilst migrating through a deep sea canyon, the pack was attacked by a violent Submarripper. Many of the Abyss Dragons died, and even Canis was torn up quite a bit, but he ultimately survived. Once the Trench Dragon recovered from the attack, he realized everyone had been split up, particularly his brother, Tidepool. Though they rarely spoke to each other, Canis took it upon himself to find his brother and protect him.

He went searching for Tidepool, traversing the vast ocean looking for his family member. He eventually did find Tidepool in Eres Cove, which was now under the control of Clister the Hell Hound Killer Dragon. Canis ired the authoritative dragon, and she seemed to like him too. What resulted was Canis' position in the pack as a commander. Though he has the authority to order soldiers, he is mainly restricted to making sure Clister's Leviathan Dragons are kept appeased and under control.
