🫥MONSTER migraine (literally)

I had a pretty bad migraine today T-T but that plus inspiration from this made me think, what would a monster migraine be like? It's kinda crazy that people still aren't sure what a migraine IS, physically, so I get to totally make up what it would look like magically :) but a real migraine is thought to be some kind of brain misfire, so that was my jumping off point!

Enjoy my silly monster medical document, and proofs are at the end :D

Oh and the skeleton in the drawing isn't any particular character! Just a generic sans type :]

(While a skeleton is used for illustration purposes, all monster types are affected similarly.)

A migraine is a severe headache caused by a misfire of magic from a monster's soul. This magic always gathers inside the head or skull, usually on one side more than the other. Most monsters feel a pounding ache behind one eye.

The misfired magic can also gather in other parts of a monster's body, resulting in other symptoms according to location.

- In the eyes or eyelights, it causes light sensitivity and/or a visual aura. This may look like television static, tunnel vision, stars, or blurred vision.

- In the ears or auditory canals, it causes noise sensitivity and/or an auditory aura. This may sound like noise is filtered through a tin can, underwater, or other distortions.

- In the abdominal area, it causes nausea, which may induce vomiting.

- Elsewhere, it causes tingling or numbness.

Other symptoms may include chills, fatigue, loss of appetite, sweating, or confusion. It is believed that chills and sweating help to shed the excess magic, and loss of appetite reduces risk of gathering further excess magic through food.

The most common cause of migraine is excess magic. However, migraines can also be triggered by:

- Stress or anxiety

- Sudden changes in magic levels

- A mistake while using magical abilities

- Overwhelming sensory input, such as strong odors, bright lights, or loud noises

- Certain foods

Unfortunately there is no cure for migraines. If you have common or particularly intense migraines, you may be prescribed a low dose magic inhibitor, or recommended lifestyle changes based on any identified causes. However, to help lessen and shorten a migraine once it's begun, you may try:

- Using magical abilities

- Attempting to direct the misfired magic, either back into the soul or dispersing into the air

(If you have questions on why I chose any particular symptoms/cause/treatment please ask :D I'd love to explain!!!)

(also "illustration purposes" may mean because you can see inside & through a skeleton, and therefore see the misfired magic, or because I'm only comfortable drawing skeletons...... your guess :p)
