Grand Caster: Clow Reed

Background and personality:

He was the most powerful magician of the multiverse. He is responsible for the plot of three CLAMP series: Cardcaptor Sakura, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle (CCS is where he first appeared and probably where he is mentioned the most). There was a time when western magic and eastern magic was very different from each other. Then came Clow, who was born from an English father and a Chinese mother and he was skilled at both western and eastern magic as a result. As time went on, he became know throughout the lands as the most powerful magus in existence and practically stopped aging. However, he will soon curse that title when he accidentally freezed the time of his dying dear friend (and possibly lover) Yuuko.

Clow Reed appears to be a wise, caring individual with immense magical power. He also had immense ability to see forward in time, to predict accurately when certain events would take place and how things would unfold. He used his power to arrange for Sakura Kinomoto to eventually become the Card Captor, even to the point of making the wand that serives as key to her powers in a bright pink.

Although not close to many, he appears to have been incredibly close to those who he included in his life. He tried to prepare Cerberus and Yue for his imminent demise, telling them as much as they were able to accept at that point about his eventual successor to the Clow Cards. He also seems to have projected himself into the future, so that Sakura would be able to speak to him as Clow Reed occasionally despite his death centuries before.

However, the way that Yuuko and Kero describe him makes Clow look like a mischievous man.

Appearance:

Clow Reed is an exceptionally tall, slender man with long, black hair that he wears in a low-gathered ponytail. Reed often dresses in white robes with a dark cloak over his shoulders held at the throat with a clasp. The cloak is decorated with symbols from Clow Reed's magic circle, and may even be the circle in its entirety. Reed always appears calm and in control, even when others around him are distressed or agitated. Part of this may be due to his extreme adeptness at predicting the future, which allowed him to ascertain what would happen before it did.

Like Gilgamesh’s gate of Babylon, every one of the 52 cards are Noble Phantasms but Unlike him, Clow isn’t an one-trick pony, he knows how to use each and every one of them individually and in combinations too.

Due to him sealing the NOTHING card under his house instead of actually using it and the fact that for centuries, he was the only one who knows of her existence, the NOTHING Card is not one of his Noble Phantasms
