Now, I understand that not everyone ships something, or not everyone wants to see another post relating to these two ships. They're two of the most popular throughout the fandom, despite there being other ships, like Rose x Violet and Ginger x Mallow.
However, I can also plainly see that people are stubborn when it comes to their opinions. They think there is nothing wrong with their ship, and if you even go so far as to joke about it, it's suddenly ship-bashing. We should be allowed to make jokes about ships, as long as we aren't directly insulting the s.
Please do not accuse me of being biased just because I ship Mop rather that Mimp, or because in my opinion Mimp might have more negatives than Mop does - because there are several problems with both ships, some are shared, and some are more serious things that are brushed off because ""it's fictional"".
Alright let's start with Mimp.
To me, Mimp's cons heavily outweigh it's pros. But let's look at these supposed pros, shall we?
Many shippers enjoy Mimp because the two have a cute relationship. Imp helps and cares for May as she travels onwards and helps the vessels, even after her failure in episode 7.
HOWEVER, PetPyves herself has pointed out the cons multiple times, and (most) Mimp shippers don't seem to acknowledge it. And if they do, they just don't care.
Pedophilia. That's the very first big thing that comes to mind. May is 16 and Imp is 23. Others argue that the age gap isn't that big, and some couples have more than 10 year age gaps. The difference? They are ADULTS. Not only that, but only Imp's PHYSICAL form is 23. Who knows how long he's been dead? He's certainly much older.
Age is NOT ""just a number"". Listen up and listen well.
Please excuse my profanity, but I don't give two flying FUCKS if they are fictional characters. They impact peoples' lives regardless.
And I don't CARE if other fandoms do it too. That's not an excuse. It is still pedophilia.
The second biggest problem.
Necrophilia.
Imp is dead, and May is not.
Now, I realize that May IS dead throughout most of the series, but she is revived, and therefore considered alive.
The third problem.
PetPyves has mentioned that their personalities do not work well together. On top of that, Imp is untrustworthy. May was willing to give him another chance, but even she was fed up with him.
Imp is breaking several laws by even speaking to May. Not to mention reapers being in relationships is literally forbidden.
And, finally, PetPyves expresses her disgust of the ship when it is brought up; rightfully so, too. While she is not stopping anyone, she still expresses her opinion.
That's not ship-bashing, is it?
Now, onto Mop.
The negatives have been brought up a lot by some fans, unsurprisingly.
Everyone knows the story: Morven betrayed Imp. They tried to kill eachother. Therefore they are incapable of ever coming to their senses and making up with the other one because they're obviously always going to live in the past and never let it go.
While these can be considered cons, I'm going to state the reasons why I personally ship Mop.
I STRONGLY believe in second chances. Not only that, but Morven was just doing what was right to him - but Imp did the same thing, kind of. He did what he felt was right, was justified. The ship for me is kind of a "what if" thing. What if they saw things from the other's perspective? Realized their point of view? Rekindled the friendship that was once so dear to them? What if it turned into something more?
Now, of course, this also has a few problems.
Reapers in relationships are still forbidden, and Morven has proven to be loyal to the reaper law and to Shiva.
Not to mention Imp is STILL manipulative and a liar.
Not only that, but he already has a love interest. Morven surely wouldn't, but Imp's is confirmed.
To put it simply, neither ship would work in canon.
So, , don't go prancing around thinking your ship is the work of god or some shit and is flawless in every way. Because it's really not.

Unless the ships are considered cannon, you shouldn't be prancing around saying it's flawless and whoever hates it must die. Of course, you CAN still ship it.

I'm glad people can agree with you. A lot of shippers ignore and sometimes downright disrespect the non-shippers and even sometimes the creators of whatever the ship was taken from!

I ship mimp still though, in my opinion they're animals so.. I mean IN MY OPINION it shouldn't matter in those circumstances.
Animals or not, some characters are put into situations that some humans would face - for example, Rose and Violet. Not to say that they're humans, no, but it is still considered pedo/necrophilia - however, I do respect, acknowledge, and understand your opinion and where you are coming from, as someone who previously shipped Mimp myself.
