Excuse any sort of mistakes I didn't exactly double check my spelling. I hope everything makes sense and is at least somewhat of a pleasant read. I am no writer really ^^'
There will be like 2 or a few more chapters. The chapters are short since well it's just a short-ish story I just really wanted to do this for a while ^^'
Note pronounciation of names (I hope they're understandable):
Caoimhe (Kwee-va) - mother
Ardghal (Ardal) - brother
Balor (Balor prnounced similar to Valor but B instead of V)
Daugherty (Daugh-er-ty) - family name
(Deep in the woods, near a river. Hidden away from human society was a mysterious village. There lived a small strange community. A small community made up of ancient vampires. Among them, a family stands out from the rest)
Chapter I
It was a bright quiet day. The rushing river waters and occasionally birds chirping were the only things that could br heard. All people of the obscure village were lounging in their houses. Some asleep some just idling around waiting for the night fall.
Suddenly, breaking the silence, a door opens, a lady wearing a long muddy green robe and an animal mask covering the top half of her face stepped out. In her arms she had a basket holding a few bedsheets. Behind her a tall boy wearing a robe and a mask similar to hers stepped out followed by a shorter boy dressed the part, her sons. Both of them were carying clothes. They closed the door behind them and quickly followed after the woman.
They made their way to the river. As they got there the she put the basket of sheets down and said in a sweet voice "Alright boys hand those over". The two handed her the clothes and she put them on top of the bedsheets. The lady kneeled down right next to the water and carefully pulled the robe up she was wearing long leather gloves to protect her hands from the bright sun. "Bal, honey, could you hand me the sheets first?", the little one nodded and grabbed one of the sheets handing it to her. The older one chuckled and brought over the rest of the laundry seeing him struggle to carry the bedsheet. He pats the little one on the back "Good job buddy, one day you'll be able to carry as much as me" he smiles and turns to their mother "Do you need any help there, mom?".
Still scrubbing the sheets she answers "No, I don't need any help here thank you, Ardghal, darling" she smiles and looks up at him "You and Balor can go play in your usual place I'll carry these back myself". He smiles and calls out "Bal! Buddy, let's go back to the forest I'll teach you how to make a rock slinger!". Balor runs over to his brother "Okay okay! let's go!" he grabs Ardghal's hand and drags him behind. "Woah slow down!" Ardghal says laughing dragging behind Balor.
As they get to the house Ardghal pulls Bal's hand "Okay bud, lemme get some things from the house so we can make those slingers" Bal nods and waits for his brother to come back outside. Soon he came out with a few pieces of leather and one pf his makeshift pocket knives. He took Balor's hand and they went in the woods where their house was stil visible.
Ardghal sits Bal down, cuts a few plants and sits beside him. He starts making and explaining how to craft the slinger. Bal watched intently all his brother did listening to his explanations and tried replicating it, his brother helped every now and then with braiding the plants together and cutting what needed to be cut.
In no time they both had two amazing slingers. They both grabbed rocks and started slinging them at the trees they were having a lot of fun laughing the whole time. Suddenly they heard the sound of footsteps. Ardghal grabbed Bal's hand and they made their way back as fast as possible. Their mother was hanging the clothes and sheets to dry when she saw them running back "What's going on boys?" she worriedly asked. The older one grabbed her hand aswell pulling her inside the house along with his brother "We have to get in quick there's people in the woods" he whispered pushing them inside, closing the door quietly.
They took off their hoods, Ardghal slowly sat down on the floor with his back to the door leaning his head back. The other two sat down on the bed. He pulled his mask off and wiped the sweat of his forehead. Caoimhe pulled off her mask and then Balor's mask placing them both on the table "Darling, tell me what happened" she said looking over at Ardghal with worry in her eyes.
He looks over to her sighs and starts talking "Well, we were making rock slingers and as we were playing with them we, we heard a noise it sounded like foptsteps, human footsteps so we ran away as fast as we could". Caoimhe pauses for a second then asks "...Did they see you?", he shrugs and buries his face in his hands "I.. I don't know mom". She gets up and walks over to him, leans down ad grabs his hands "Baby, please don't be upset, you were just messing around you couldn't have known someone would be there. I'm sure they didn't see you" she chuckles "Afterall you two are masters in staying hidden" she hugs him gently, "I'm scared mom, what if we, what if I doomed the village..?" he says trying not to tear up. Balor looks over to him frowning but full of confidence "Don't talk like that! We did nothing, the bad people won't come here!". Ardghal looks at his brother smiling dejectedly "Yea bud, you must be right", he breaks from their mother's hug and goes into the bathroom as the other two get ready for bed.
Ardghal paces back and forth, hands pulling at the roots of his long curly ginger hair. His mind was racing whispering to himself. After a few minutes Caoimhe cracks open the door, and says "Darling come on it's time for bed, you won't have enough energy for the night if you don't sleep now" she turns to close the door "You know what could happen if you don't get enough sleep". He stops pulling at his hair and looks at his hands, he sighs deeply "I swear on my life I'll protect this place even if it's the last thing I do".
He quickly changes into his sleep clothing and leaves the bathroom. The other two are fast asleep. He kisses them both on the cheek and lays in his own bed, his mind still running he drifts off to sleep.
