Geography:
The Ten Towers, colloquially called Ten Towers, is the seat of House Harlaw of Harlaw. The castle stands on the central-eastern shore of Harlaw, and is better sited than Harlaw Hall. There is a nearby village.
Ten Towers is the newest castle on the Iron Islands, made up of ten unique tower-keeps, linked together by walks and bridges. Asha Greyjoy likens the castle to ten castles squashed together. There is good fishing off the Long Stone Quay, where ships dock. The castle has a dungeon.
The great hall contains the high seat of the Harlaws. Above the seat hang two crossed giant scythes of beaten silver. This is where the Lord of Harlaw holds court.
The Widow's Tower is named after Lady Gwynesse Harlaw, as it is where she has lingered since Greyjoy's Rebellion. Lady Alannys Harlaw also resides here. The tower has window seats overlooking the sea.
The Book Tower is the fattest of the ten, and it is octagonal and made of large stone blocks. The tower earned its name because it is where Lord Rodrik Harlaw keeps his extensive library, filled with books and tomes. There is a stair, going from the great hall to the library, which is built within the thick walls of the Book Tower.

History:
The Ten Towers were built by Lord Theomore Harlaw, after he lost three sons in the cradle at the Harlaws' then seat, Harlaw Hall. A castle which is ancient, but damp, and floods constantly. Theomore was a mercurial man, who often changed his opinion, so he erected ten tower-keeps, which were all completely unique from one another.
Three-Tooth has been the Steward of the Ten Towers since she was called Twelve-Tooth. When their father died, the Ten Towers came to Rodrik Harlaw, as opposed to his seven years older sister, Gwynesse Harlaw. She still mutters from time to time about how the castle should be hers.
After the death of Rodrik's sons during Greyjoy's Rebellion, he named Ser Harras Harlaw as his heir. Gwynesse also returned after the war, as her husband had died as well. Because of her poor health, Lady Alannys Harlaw returns from Pyke a few years after the war.
Asha Greyjoy visited Ten Towers in her youth, and she preferred it over Pyke. She enjoyed racing across the walks and bridges, and reading in Lord Rodrik's library. Rodrik kept Septons at the Ten Towers to maintain his library, when the Faith of the Seven was still accepted on the Iron Islands.

Recent events:
After the death of Lord Balon Greyjoy, Rodrik calls his banners and summons the Ironborn Lords the Ten Towers, as he is ing the claim of his niece, Asha. Those that answer the call are Rodrik's bannermen (Lords Maron Volmark, Myre, and Stonetree), and kinsmen (Ser Harras, Master Hotho, Master Boremund, and Master Sigfryd Harlaw), as well as Lord Tristifer Botley.
Lord Baelor Blacktyde briefly visits the castle and meets with Rodrik, before sailing on to Old Wyk. Asha returns from the North a few days later than expected. She is disappointed by how few have come to her, and has her captives (Gawen, and Erena Glover, as well as Lady Sybelle Locke) quartered in one of the towers as opposed to in the dungeon.
A feast is held to celebrate Asha's arrival. After that she speaks with Three-Tooth, Lord Rodrik, Lord Tristifer, and Lady Alannys. Rodrik finds the Kingsmoot a bad idea, and offers to name Asha as the heir to the Ten Towers (while Ser Harras would still remain the heir to Harlaw), but she declines.
After Euron Greyjoy wins the Kingsmoot, Rodrik urges Asha to flee the Iron Islands. She sails to Ten Towers first, bidding farewell to her mother, Alannys. Asha leaves Gawen and Erena in the care of Gwynesse, thinking them safe there, but brings Sybelle with her north.
After the Taking of the Shield Islands, King Euron names Ser Harras as the Lord of Greyshield. Master Hotho Harlaw thinks this makes him the new heir to Harlaw.
