Shadowbinders in game of thrones?

We are told that shadowbinding is one of the most powerful and dangerous of all the types of magic, and I'm just wandering if there is information or informed speculation as to why this is? For example Blood magic seems very powerful / evil, as it pays for life with death, or Necromancy is extremely powerful with it's ability to raise undead armies, or even the Valeryian Fire magic and it's control over Dragons. So why is Shadowmagic so powerful? Mny thks
