This piece is brought to you on behalf of The Stranger's gift. AGirlis love to hear from the community and share ideas and theories. In many cases we expand on each other's ideas and this will be such a piece. Take another ride with us and see how Patchface is a victim of Pangea.

:earth_asia: Pangea (The Whole) :earth_africa:
Pangea is said to be a Supercontinent. Which is a concept theorized by Alfred Wegener. It was proposed that all the world's land was connected. Slowly, continental drift caused the divergence of present day continents. In his published works The Origin of the Continents of 1912 & The 1915 publication, the Origin of Continents and Oceans he elaborates on why he thinks this is possible.
:dash: Catch That Drift :dash:
This is a popular theory proposing that all the major continents were a unified land mass surrounded by one ocean, Panthalassa. Evidence used to this theory are...the identical fossils and species that are found in areas nonadjacent,..as well as the paleomagnetic study of polar wandering.

Many civilizations believe that a worldwide flood caused the shift of the continents and sea(s) or at least caused lands to be submerged.

“...in the second new moon, the seventeenth day of the moon, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of the heavens were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.”
- Berĕshith (Genesis) 7:11-12 The Scriptures
There are approximately 230 different versions of a worldwide flood. Inso The Deep is a place of darkness and wetness. It stores a multitude of waters. The force of waters bursting from beneath the earth helped cause continental drift. The heavens are also indicated to have a storage of water. Pouring down forcing sediment and animals to be relocated causing the anomaly of sea life fossils found atop tall mountains and the fossilization of living trees.

:ocean: Flood/Drift :ocean:
The theory you prefer is up to you. I might add, volcanic activity shifting tectonic plates is also very probable. For the purpose of this post, lean towards one or consider both and bring your thoughts along as we apply them to other concepts in the World of Ice and Fire.
Could it be at some point that all the continents in Planetos were connected?...Explaining why the Oily black stone can be found all over the world (The Citadel, The Five Forts, The Seastone chair, Asshai) and why other continents seem to have their version of the Long Night.
Oily Stone also Referenced in A Dragon at Winterfell Part 1 @BrotherhoodWithoutBanners

There even seems to be a variation of heart trees. Trees with black wood and blue leaves, used to produce nightshade, common among warlocks and book Euron. (Mentioned by the Winged Wolf )

I'm also inclined to agree with the Conspiracy post) whom see other indegenious groups that are likely cousins to the Westerosi Children of the Forest. The Ifequevron or "Wood Walkers," - translated from the Dothraki - were a small magical people. Their lands in Vaes Leisi also possess carved trees and haunted grottos in mimicking the Isle of Faces.
I claim no credit for the above theories, but the one BELOW...all us.
*****🌩 Theory Time 🌩 *****

:deciduous_tree: Iron Isles = Mtns of the Vale :deciduous_tree:
Just as the water rose to shatter the Arm of Dorne, waters rose to shut off the Iron Islands from green land. Once long ago, the sea was lower and trees of green, gold and white stood tall on the plains. Then much like the Storms that rose upon the Stormlands, a monstrous whirl of dread, wind and continual rain crashed upon the Isles. But there were no magical walls to keep the storm at bay. Storm's End built its fortress to war against just that. The Iron islands refused to acknowledge the old gods whose magic stood against roaring rain and rising waters.
:bridge_at_night: Below Sea Level :bridge_at_night:
So the Storm came and never left. Leaving only the top of the lands exposed. The green lands lies below, consumed by the waters. And the hills became islands seperated from the mainland.

Artifacts, runes, caves and weirwoods all buried beneath the waves.
Now, just as the Mountain of the Vale cannot produce a weirwood, (save from the weirwood throne) the iron islands are down to one. And (Outside of Bloodraven) There are no seers who could reach the tress, 'cept one... Good old Patches... (Pre-Bran's push)
:maple_leaf: Hidden Heart Tree :maple_leaf:
My theory, the reason why Patchface survived three days at sea is because he entered a submerged Weirwood cave.

Waves forced him into an air pocket. There a seer, much like Bloodraven or Bran, tried to enter his consciousness. And much like "show Hodor," it shattered the boy's mind. Book readers can relate this to Varamyr SixSkins and his failed attempt with Thistle.

👁 Wayward Warg 👁
"Varamyr wakes up as Thistle shakes him. She said they must leave immediately as hundreds of wights are descending upon them. Knowing he will never have a better chance, Varamyr forces himself inside her skin and tries to take her, but fails. For a moment, his spirit floats in the air and he can see his body twitching feebly and Thistle who has clawed out her eyes and bit off her own tongue dancing madly. Then, as death takes him, he awakes in the body of One Eye and watches the Wights, including Thistle, lumber by in the distance."
- A Dance With Dragons Prolouge
We don't know how the woman he tried to enter would have faired mentally if the Others had not appeared. But chances are, she would have been left broken. Another example of failed skinchanging occurred with Bran and Meera. She runs away screaming when Bran accidentally "reaches out to her.." in Bran III, ADWD. Will she be forever marked like Hodor or as I'm theorizing...
Patchface.

🤕 Broken Minds 🤕
"The witty, clever lad that Lord Steffon had written of never reached Storm's End; the boy they found was someone else, broken in body and mind, hardly capable of speech, much less of wit. Yet his fool's face left no doubt of who he was. It was fashion in the Free City of Volantis to tattoo the faces of slaves and servants; from neck to scalp the boy's skin had been paintings of squares of red and green motley."

:bust_in_silhouette: The Drowned Seer :bust_in_silhouette:
The difference is there was no escape for Patchface. He could either fight against the waves that pushed him in the cave or he could struggle with a powerful force trying to take over his mind. Unable to fight either, he is inhibited by the skinchanger/seer. Leaving him imprinted with the prophesies and sayings he collected during his possession. He spouts them in songs and riddles, because alas, he was a jester. And this, the most basic aspect of him, remains.
🤓 Saved by His Wits 🤓
Like Hodor he is cognitive enough to understand what is happening around him, but is assumed to be dim-witted. But it is stated that he was incredibly intelligent before the Windproud crashed into Shipwrecker Bay. That is likely why he survived his encounter with a greenseer. And in fact, the seer may be controlling him.

:black_joker: From Fool to Raven :black_joker:
Just as many theorize Bloodraven is speaking through Ravens... Uttering "Fire" to instruct Jon how to kill the others, "Snow" to indicate Jon and "King" to foreshadow Jon's possible future... I see the same thing happening to Patches, he is the raven, either still suffering from a skinchanger who stayed too long or still inhabited by one. Or he is the warg and/or greenseer who needed a near death experience to trigger his sight. (Much like Bran's fall or Jojen's illness).
:curly_loop: Red & Green Sight :curly_loop:
There are already strong clues suggesting that his character should be compared to the seers.
"Those you call Children of the Forests have eyes are gold as the sun. But once in a great while, one is born amongst them with eyes as red as blood. Or green as the moss of a tree."
- Bloodraven to Bran
- comparison pointed out in The Iron Underneath

~ fanpop.com ~
Accordingly, Lady Shireen's fool was decorated with "square of red and green motley." Indeed tying him to the description of greenseers. So again is he a seer or a vessel for one :grey_question:
Side note: I do wonder if this is one of the reasons Damphair visits the sea and comes back with new found ideas. Are the runes of a buried tree beneath the waves calling out to him?

:skull: Drowned God = Drowned Weirwood :skull:
Or is Euron using a mechanism to communicate to him. Truly, it could also be Quaithe, Marwyn, Sarella, Jacqen a warlock or even the three eyed crow. But as far as motives go, Euron is most likely to be communicating with Damphair. Being that weirwoods can't die even if burned or in this case buried under the sea, it is possible that one exists deep below the waves, speaking to those who will lend their ears to the drowned God. Who in this case is a drowned weirwood. Still possessed by the spirits of those who died upon it. So a consciousness (many, perhaps) is answering Euron.

:gift_heart: The best part :gift_heart:
So, what do you think? Could Patchface have been ed by a powerful seer or warg? Is he himself a warg or a seer? Do you think it possible The Iron Islands existed as part of the mainland? Or at least stood higher above sea level at some point? A Girl would love to hear your thoughts...

I absolutely love this piece!
As much time as I have pondered Patchface, the thought of him surviving via an under the sea weirwood never ever occurred to me. This is just a brilliant (even if tin foily) theory! If this even comes close to being true in the books, you should get an award 🥇 🥇
Our discussions on Pangea brought a slew of thoughts with it. Thank you always for your help and encouragement.
One of the best collab groups ever formed. What an awesome idea, I absolutely love it. A great explanation for the prophetic Patchface and Drowned God alike. Also, thanks for the mention by the way!
Thank you friend! Could not have done this without your contributions!!!
