Hello once again everyone! Back again with my monthly post for my girl Alicent. I made this quite early in the month so please ignore any mistakes or anything I mention that may have happened at the beginning of the month. I'm not going to get political, but I do sincerely hope that all of the Americans on here are okay. That's all I have to say on the issue. So! If you think you've seen this post from me before, you sort of have. I did a modern Alicent post for my 5th post in the journey for my title. However, I recently came to the realisation that I very rarely do anything involving younger Alicent, portrayed by Emily Carey. My content usually seems to gravitate more to Olivia Cooke's Alicent, just naturally seeing as there is more content of her version of Alicent. But with this realisation, I decided that I wanted to begin utilising her some more. It certainly won't be as much as I use Olivia's portrayal, but it's better than nothing! I'm also still trying out this style of blog cover, so yeah just bare with me while I see if I like it.

This post is all about what I think young Alicent would have been like in the modern day!! I'll use the same categories as last time, just to keep some consistency and to view how it changes with her age etc. Especially seeing as this is something we have hints of in the show, with her fashion evolving with her age and circumstances. So without further ado, here is young Alicent's modern day life!

𝑭𝑨𝑺𝑯𝑰𝑶𝑵

Unlike older Alicent who we see portrayed in green until the finale of season 2, we see young Alicent dressed in blue!! In my fashion analysis, I sort of broke down the meaning of the colours and what blue represents. It represents innocence and gentleness. So, for my modern day version of young Alicent, I decided that blue and white would be the primary colours, such is her first dress in the show! This first outfit is her casual outfit, so an outfit that she wears frequently to just relax and lounge. I believe she would wear this seeing as the colours match with the first outfit we see her in! We see her in the blue dress with the white details and accents. I also picked this because of the butterflies, seeing as they are small and delicate. Butterflies can symbolise hope and rebirth, as well as transformation and change. So I believe that butterflies are a really beautiful representation of young Alicent. The jeans are in general just because they are comfortable and I believe they match well with the outfit, which I can imagine Alicent being concerned with!

The dress is for events and anything formal due to her father being close with the Targaryens. In a modern setting, I still view the Targaryens as being quite powerful and influential. Not like a royal family, but important. So I still think that they have to attend formal events and whatnot, hence why I have Alicent's formal dress seeing as she would be attending events either with Rhaenyra or Otto. I once again chose blue for this dress as a call back to her fashion when younger. I didn't choose a majorly revealing dress seeing as I don't think that fits with her character, but I figured that the back being exposed was alright. The sleeves remind me of the cuffs on her first dress, so I think she would wear this dress. It's modest, blue to represent her delicacy and gentleness, and the puffy sleeves remind me of her first dress. So I thought that this would definitely be something Alicent would wear. The way that I see young Alicent, she's modest and yet also carefree seeing as she still has an innocence about her.

And finally, an example of her school outfit! Seeing as Alicent is 15-17 when portrayed by Emily Carey, Alicent at this age would still be in modern day education. I believe she would still try and keep the blue hues, but in a much softer fashion. This is to give her a welcoming and gentle sort of appearance, since young Alicent is so innocent and none of her outfits were dramatic or overwhelming etc. They were just simple and with gentle tones. For example, the first blue dress we see her in is incredibly simple and that tells us a lot about her character. She is elegant without needing to be dramatic. So I believe this would also translate into her school outfit! Nothing overwhelming or dramatic, just simple and run of the mill type clothes that still show off her innocence and gentleness through the blue tones. I do think she would be private educated, yes, but I think she would still want to separate school from her every day life. Just as when she gets older, she wears more red tones whilst still trying to fit in with the Targaryens before reverting back to white in her nightgown and green/blue in her everyday wear.

𝑺𝑶𝑪𝑰𝑨𝑳 𝑴𝑬𝑫𝑰𝑨

In my post for older Alicent, I said that she would have a personal and a business . And I stand by this for older Alicent, who I love to think of as a fashion designer. But for younger Alicent, I think she only has a personal ! She would still be in education and therefore definitely doesn't have a job, so I would definitely say that she just has a personal . However, I think she has a main personal and then a secondary that Otto doesn't know about. That being said, I chose her main ! On here, I think she would post anything. Her friends, family, schoolwork, what she was doing etc. And I think she would be an active poster in her youth!

Here are a few close-up examples of what I think she would post:

Alicent is a very family oriented character. This applies to both her youth and her adulthood, since she is very eager to please Otto and largely relies upon him! I think she would post most frequently about Rhaenyra, especially before their fallout. She and Rhaenyra spent the most time together in her youth and they were extremely close, meaning that the majority of her posts on Instagram are definitely about Rhaenyra. Then, I think she does occasionally post Otto. I don't think he would be eager to have his face out on social media, since he definitely doesn't have one of his own, so she rarely gets to post him. Young Alicent is far too sweet to post someone without their permission. So I think Otto makes brief appearances. The rest of her posts mainly consist of quotes she finds and wants to share, her outfits that she likes the most and then also her lifestyle!

𝑷𝑬𝑻

I think Alicent would have a pet rabbit! I've chosen this because rabbits represent innocence and vulnerability. Seeing as they are so small and are prey animals, they often evoke the feelings of vulnerability. I also chose a white rabbit seeing as that is also the colour that symbolises innocence. I think Alicent would call the rabbit "Florent" as a nod to her mother! And also because it's a very cute name in my opinion. Rabbits in the Chinese zodiac are also seen as being the symbols of mercy, elegance and beauty. And I think all of these relate to young Alicent in some way! She was merciful and gentle, she was incredibly elegant in both her sense of dress and her actions and she was of course very beautiful. Otto calls her the "most comely girl at court" and I believe this stands, even if it is from a father's eyes. So I think a rabbit is absolutely perfect for Alicent! The Targaryens are predatory animals and she can be represented through a rabbit. Seemed fitting!

𝑷𝑳𝑨𝒀𝑳𝑰𝑺𝑻

Alicent listens to music like its religion. Whenever she's studying, whenever she's alone, whenever she just wants a few moments to herself and wants to disconnect etc. She listens to music. I think she would listen to pretty much anything soft and gentle, I can't see her listening to anything overly aggressive or hard-core. I think she much prefers light and ethereal songs, seeing as they help her to unwind and just really represent who she is as a person in that stage of her life! She hasn't yet been hardened by her circumstances, she is just innocent and soft. Someone should count how many times I've said that through this blog, but it's true.

The songs I've chosen I think not only represent her, but really fit her sort of nature at that age! All of the songs are soft, yet most have a deep meaning that relates to Alicent. For example, What Was I Made For? By Billie Eilish I feel really relates to Alicent at this age where she is still trying to find her purpose and meaning, whilst also battling with being a girl and what that unfortunately means for her future. Another example is Beautiful Mess by Kristian Kostov, which is another really soft and ethereal song. And I think she relates this to Rhaenyra and how their relationship is!
