Haunting of Pyke

Spooky ghosts? We love to see it. Happy day five!

For today’s challenge, I was inspired by the Drowned God and the Ironborn ways of baptism, and hopefully the edit I made somewhat depicts that. :joy: Another thing that I thought of immediately when seeing “ghosts” as the prompt was Theon. I imagine that after returning back to his home after being tortured by Ramsay, that Theon would be a shell of who he once was. Due to the psychological and physical damage that he endures, it seems likely that Theon would have difficulty sleeping peacefully again, and that he’d wander the halls at night in fear of Ramsay and plagued by flashbacks of all that he endured.

Along with Theon’s past, there’s also the death of the eldest two Greyjoy sons, Rodrik and Maron. Since they died needlessly during Balon’s rebellion, it seems possible that their souls would haunt the castle they once called home. Speaking of Balon, the Reaper of Pyke is also killed by his brother, Euron. Between the sea baptisms and the all around bad luck of the Greyjoy family, there are many lost and wandering souls around Pyke. In my mind, I imagine that it would be an incredibly haunted place in Westeros.

Final Product

To make the edit, I first found a picture of Pyke. Using PicsArt, I added the pop art filter “Holga 2”. I adjusted how much to blur the effect, and then went on to adding stickers. I was able to find various stickers of different ghosts or phantom like beings, and changed their opacity to blend in better to the background. I found a sticker of hands grasping, and I blended it into the ocean to signify those drowned during their baptisms trying to break free of the sea.

Time taken was roughly 45 minutes.
