When I saw the #MayThe4th challenge, I immediatly loved the idea and I had dozens of franchises/pop culture stuff in my head. In the end, I went with Pokémon. It’s my second favourite franchise after ASOIAF and it’s most definately pop culture. In the story I’m writing for the challenge, two ASOIAF character will find them in the Pokémon world. I’m not going to tell who the characters are (altough you probaly guessed one is Davos), but I’ll say that I chose them because they’re some of my personal favourites ASOIAF characters. So, let’s start.

‘Sweety, wake up. It’s the big day to start your adventure.’ Davos opened his eyes. He felt weird. Why was his so bed suddenly so small. He looked up and saw that most of his legs stuck out of the bed. This was a bed for a child. ‘Red, why are you taking so long? You have always been so exited for this?’
It was the same voice that woke Davos. A woman came up from a pair of stairs. She saw Davos and froze. ‘Who are you and what have you done with my son?’ Davos didn’t know how to answer, he knew he had to get out of here. He quickly dashed past the woman down the stairs.
He found himself in a small living room. Davos saw a door that likely led outside. He opened it and walked out. He was in a small village. There was one other house that a little bigger. Davos heard some shouts from there, so he walked towards it. He pushed the door open and looked around. It was one mostly white room, with bookshelves and men in white coats running around. And Stannis was there.

‘Who are you old man? And where am I.’ Stannis turned around and saw Davos. ‘Davos, good to see you here. This weird man wants us to pick a... What was it? Pokeyman?’ Behind Stannis stood an old man with a white coat. ‘A Pokémon. And you can’t have one. Not until you tell where my grandson is.’
Davos wondered what in the name of the Seven was going on. He was three red and white balls lying on a table. He walked towards them. There were circles on them. He tapped one. The ball opened and a green frog creature with a plant on his back came out of it. ‘Bulbasaur!’ it said. Davos took a step back. ‘What is this hellish abomination?’
The old man answered. ‘I see you found a Pokémon. They were for other persons, but if you really want one, go ahead.’ The man opened the other balls. One contained an orange lizard with a flaming tail. Stannis seemed intrested in that one. The second was a blue turtle with a curly tail. Davos felt a strange form of affection for the turtle. ‘I want the turtle.’ Davos said while Stannis pointed at the lizard. ‘Very well, you can have them. Good luck on your adventures.’

A few weeks later
Davos walked through the hall. Somehow he had done it. He had managed to understand how these creatures worked and how to use them. And more importantly, he knew how to love them. Somehow, Davos had come to love these strange animals. And now he was going to be the champion of this land. It felt strange and exiting at the same time. Finally he reached the door. He opened it and the champion awaited him. His last challenge. Davos saw who it was. ‘This can’t be...’ He muttered. Davos’ last foe was Stannis.
‘So we meet again Ser Davos. I hope we have a wonderful battle.’ Davos hadn’t seen Stannis much after getting their first partners. He didn’t know how far Stannis had been with the so-called gyms. Apparantly he also finished. ‘Let us begin.’ said Stannis. He threw his first Poké Ball.
A Primeape appeared. A month ago, Davos would have no clue what for creature that was, but he had learned. Davos threw his own Ball. ‘Go Farfetch’d.’ Davos’ Farfetch’d appeared. And so the battle began. Sometimes it looked like Davos would be victorious, sometimes Stannis clearly had the upper hand.
Davos’ Farfetch’d managed to dispose of Stannis’ Primeape, but Stannis struck back hard with an Alakazam. Davos countered with his Dragonite. In the end, the two very powerful Pokémon tied and went down together. Next up Stannis send out Rhydon. Davos answered with Lapras. Davos easily beat the Rhydon, but Lapras also suffered a little bit of damage. Stannis’ Tauros came in to end the poor Lapras.
Next, Davos moved on to Kingler and defeated the Tauros. Stannis now only had two Pokémon and Davos three. Stannis sent out a Nidoking, who to Davos’ suprise wrecked his Kingler. Then came Davos’ Vileplume. Nidoking was a stronger Pokémon, but with Vileplumes Sleep Powder and Leech Seed, Davos prevailed. Stannis’ ace was up; Charizard. Vileplume barely lasted a minute. Both men were down to their last Pokémon. It was Davos’ Blastoise vs. Stannis’ Charizard.
Despite Davos’ advantage, it was a long fight. But in the end, Davos won. ‘Congratulations Davos. You beat me. It was a good battle.’ ‘It was. It truly was.’ Davos replied. Then the old man, Professor Oak, entered. ‘Follow me, new champion.’ Davos did. They entered a room. ‘Put your Pokéballs in that machine.’ Davos also did that. A screen appeared showing all his Pokémon. ‘You have been entered to the Hall of Fame, where all champions are recorded. And I have a suprise for you.’ Finally, I can go home, thought Davos. ‘A ticket to New Bark Town. Enjoy Johto.’ It was then that Davos realised he was far from done with this strange world.

This was my entry for the #MayThe4th challenge. I get if not all of you like Pokémon and thus didn’t find this post interesting or enjoyable, but that doesn’t matter, as long as I entertained some people. I hope you liked this and until next time.
