Valar Morghulis Thrones Amino,
So #CharacterComparison contribution.
I'll be taking the King in the North, Jon Snow from A Song Of Ice And Fire and comparing him to the Star Spangled Hero Captain America/Steve Rogers from Marvel. I will be discussing pretty major events surrounding these characters so right now is your SPOILER ALERT (for all the way up to season 7 of GoT and the Civil War storyline of Marvel). My main comparison is made up of 4 main points which can be simplified as;
1. Outcasts
2. Time for a Team Up
3. Death
4. Stubborn

OUTCAST
So starting of my comparison takes each of our characters all the way back to their origins. Before he was known as "King in the North" Jon Snow was known in the Seven Kingdoms as "The Bastard of Winterfell". This came as an unfortunate title due to his perceived birth as the bastard son of Eddard Stark, whereas in season 7 his true lineage was revealed, Im looking at the way the world viewed him. To the rest of Westeros Jon Snow didn't matter he was only a Bastard and couldn't amount to much, he'd never even become Lord of Winterfell not matter how much he served the Starks. Tyrion Lannister explains it well by piling Bastards in with "Cripples and other Broken things". Ultimately though Jon Snow breaks out of this stigma when he is accepted into the Nights Watch for being an Outcast, finally proving himself.
Similarly, but for different reasons, Steve Rogers was Outcast. Growing up in Brooklyn during World War 2, Steve tried enlisting into the army. However not being the most physically fit person he was given a "4-F" meaning he wasn't able to . This left him as an outcast as he was unable to serve his country whilst his friends, such as Bucky, went off into the fight. Similarly to Jon once Steve was accepted for himself as a courageous man instead of a strong man he was accepted into the Super Serum experiment and allowed to reach his full potential as Captain America.

TIME FOR A TEAM UP
Once the war was over Captain America wasn't in very high demand as he was made for the fight against the Nazi and for a time he did fight off the "Commie" threat, when this didn't turn out well he was put on the side lines until he reappeared in Avenger #4 (1964). Ever since Captain America has been a prominent part of the Avengers even having been their leader for sometime.
When Jon Snow ed the Nights Watch he was a sideline player being the servant to Lord Commander Mormont. Then when he is murdered Jon Snow is voted into the role of Lord Commander becoming the Leader of the Night's Watch. Then in more recent times Jon has reed the Northern kingdom under one name and leads them as their King. Also during season 7 Jon commanded his own small team which was compared to many superhero teams including the Avengers in "Beyond the Wall".

DEATH
In one of the biggest moments in ASOIAF Lord Commander Jon Snow was murdered as a "Traitor". As we waited for the reveal of if he was truly dead the lingering image of Kit Harrington lay in the Ice surrounded by his blood was stuck in our minds. Then we were finally shown the reveal of his body being dragged out of the Ice and he was resurrected by Melisandre. Once he was brought back to life his "watch has ended" allowing him to re the rest of the world, where it's a New World with Tommen on the Throne and Ramsey as the new Lord of Winterfell.
Back to before he was an Avenger when WWII was over Captain America was put out of commission, depending on what you see he is either on a rocket or crashing a plane, but it ends with him stuck under the Ice (similar to Jon Snow in a way). Then when he is defrosted decades later Steve Rogers s a World different to the one he left, with the Avengers running about.

STUBBORN
Back in 2006 the comic book storyline Civil War was released. This story saw the Superhero registration act was created that required all heroes reveal their identity to the World, which Captain America was against as he saw it as a restriction of freedom and stood up against the act. He remained with this viewpoint up until he realised that what he was doing wasn't helping him or the World and so he stood down. This lines up similarly to Jon Snow's story during season 7 of GoT which sees him refuse to "Bend the Knee". This is due to his belief that the restriction would cause all of the North to turn against him. Jon is only forced into bending the knee when he realises that there is a greater threat that he can't defeat himself.

BONUS
A small little bonus point that was the initial inspiration for this point. In the "Battle of the Bastards" Jon Snow faces off against Ramsey using a Shield in the final fight, a small visual link between the two characters.

This is my contribution and I hope that you enjoyed the read and this has at least made you think a bit about the similarities between the King in the North and the Star Spangled Hero. Tell me your thoughts on it or wether why Jon isn't like Captain America.
But for now this post is over.

And they left the white wolf at the end of the line.
I love both characters so much and I find that they are so alike...both simple honored men doing their best to fight for what they believe :)
Very fun read!
Wow, very good comparison. I had not thought so.
good post...thank you for sharing it.
