It was about 10:00 am, and Seth, Sabria, and Jack were on their way to Saint Denis for another shopping run. It had been a bit since Jeff had given them all new Horses, 3 triplet Shire-Arabian crosses, gigantic, fast, strong, and each full of personality.
It had also been a while since Jack was adopted into the family, he finally felt comfortable being himself, at least around his new family, and especially his new siblings. Seth and Sabria loved that they had another addition to the family, sticking with Jack like bodyguards.
“Ol’ Pa said we got some extra money to spend here in Saint Denis, business must be good at the bar” Seth said
“That or he found another rare animal again, either way, can’t wait to buy some new stuff” Sabria replied
“How did Jeff even get so much money anyway?” Jack asked
“He’s been hunting since he was just a kid, him and his twin brother Isak would go out all day in search of animals to hunt. thats where he learned how to cook so damn well too.” Seth said, looking back at Jack
“I think he also learned how to craft goods out of the animals he kills, blankets, rugs, coats, even saddles… sometimes he’ll even get commissions from one of these rich folks here in Saint Denis.” Sabria
“Well, seems like he lived an honest life, plus I could also go for some new clothes… seem to have outgrow most of mine…” Jack said, his eyes looking down for just a bit, seem like all those meals from Jeff made him gain a little weight
“You said Jeff had a twin, we’re is he now?” Jack asked after a bit of a pause
“He works here in Saint Denis actually, if you want we can also stop by to see uncle Isak If ya like.” Seth Chimed in
“You know what, I’d be up to do that, any family of your must be interesting.”
The 3 rode a couple more miles till they got to Saint Denis, continuing to make small talk during the trip.
“Well, we’re here! Uncle Isak’s place! Wonder how the old man is doing!” Seth bellowed with a belly laugh
The house was quite large, at least for Saint Denis standards, it looked quiet nice from the outside
“You sure are a racket Seth…” Sabria rolled her eyes and she knocked on the door.
“Hello? Who is it” a voice in the distance can be heard saying
“It’s us, your favorite nephew and niece, plus a special guest!” Seth playfully said through the door
Isak opener the door, a large man, just as tall as Jeff, probably around 280 pounds, with a large handlebar mustache and chinstrap beard, dressed in a formal button up.
“Well it’s good to see ya kids! And who is this fine fellow you brought with ya” Isak bellowed with a huge smile
“I’m Jack… Jack Marston…, Mister Jeff brought me into his family… good to meet you sir…” Jack said sheepishly, he was starting to see where Seth got his mannerisms, seem to run in the family
“Well it’s good to meet ya mister Marston! Hopefully the DeWitts aren’t too much for ya!” Isak laughed and waved the kids in
“Come, sit, got plenty of room for ya… so, how is that old fart Jeff?” Isak snickered
“He is doing good, the bar and ranch are doin well! How about your job?” Sabria spoke with a similar volume to her uncle.
“It’s doin good! Just got another book published, life is pretty good here…”
“You’re a writer?” Jack spoke up, a little of guard
“Sure am! Are you one my friend?” Isak asked, still with a large smile on his face
“Well… I do want to be one… maybe one day… just don’t know where to start…” Jack stuttered nervously
“Well it seems like you came to the right guy! Jeff has always been the rancher, but I can definitely help ya with starting up your writing career if ya like, I could even help you out with your first book, free of charge!” Isak looked at Jack, and then the photos of Isak and Jeff on the wall
“That would be quite generous of you sir, I’d love to take up your offer.” Jack perked up
Isak and Jack would continue to talk for the next 30 minute about writing, while Seth and Sabria helped themselves to the kitchen, making an early lunch for everyone.
“Well, it was good to meet ya young Jack, it’s always good to meet an aspiring writer, come back any time if ya want help with your book, I’ll be sure to promote it from my end!” Isak shook hands with Jack, almost shaking with excitement
After eating lunch, they all waved their goodbyes, and went their separate ways, With Isak going back to writing, and the kids going shopping before eventually picking up the supplies they needed from Saint Denis.
“Seem like you and Uncle Isak had fun” Sabria said to Jack with a small smile on her face.
Jack nodded back with a small smile himself. Life was changing so fast… one minute he is on a ranch with his mother and father, the next he is all alone, and now he is being showered with attention by a new family. It’s all so much to take in, but Jack isn’t complaining…
