°•.☆|| Intro ||☆.•°

Hello Hatchlings, Lilin Kaiko here. I haven't posted on here in a very long time (and even deleted some of my older posts :c ). Mainly been lurking around here, but as someone who absolutely loves languages and coming up with her own scripts and languages -whether that be as a part of worldbuilding, or just for its own sake- I couldn't let this challenge fly by.

My conlang will be called Sivásma, in which vásma is the word for language or speech, and si means something like fluid or graceful. So it's the flowing language. Si is also the ending for plural words, more on that later.

°•.☆|| Pre-challenge Questions ||☆.•°

1. Have you heard of ConLangs before reading this HCC Which Conlang(s)?

Yes I have. I never bothered to learn one, but I'm very familiar with the concept. Some of the top of my head are Klingon, Dothraki, High Valyrian, Na'vi, Atlantean, and Tolkien's Elvish languages of which I forgot the names.

2. What use could your ConLang have in your personal magick?

I'm not sure. I could always use it just to encode things. Or I could write little songs and chants in it, which actually sounds like a lot of fun now that I think of it.

3. Which languages (non ConLang) do you most ire? Why?

As a teen I used to learn Japanese. I'm sort of out of that phase, but still like the language a lot. I love the sound of Latin too, as well as a bit of Arabic, and have recently taken interest in Sanskrit.

°•.☆|| Phonology ||☆.•°

The first thing that I did was to decide on the sounds that exist within Sivásma. First come the consonants:

X (this sound does not exist in English. It's like the ch in loch or the x in Mexico)

H

K

Q (sounds the same as K, I just like to have it different to make things unnecessarily complicated)

S

Sh

Z

Zh (imagine a Sh sound but a bit more Z-like)

J (soft J, like the Y in yellow)

M

N

T

D

Th

V

F

B

P

G (always a hard G (Good Game))

R (you need to roll this R)

L

W

C (like the ch in chess)

And next the vowels:

A (like in cAr)

Á (like a long version of the other A, does not exist in English)

O (dOme)

U (bOOt)

Ú (like the German Ü, again, does not exist in English)

I (sEE)

E (bEd)

É (sAY)

And the diphthongs:

Ai (EYE)

Oi (bOY)

Ui (uh, I can't think of an example word, but it's just OOY)

As you can see a lot of these sounds don't exist in English, so I'm sorry if you choked on your own tongue cause were trying to pronounce them.

°•.☆|| Vocabulary ||☆.•°

The next thing to do when you're creating a language is to come up with words. Lots of words. Now, I'm far from done with this. You're never really done with this. It's the kind of thing where you start with just the first 100 or something in that range, move on to the next stage, and then come back to add more vocabulary for the rest of eternity.

I already have 194 words in my lexicon as I write this sentence, so I'll spare you all of that and just give a handful of example words.

Hello Hatchlings, Lilin Kaiko here. I haven't posted on here in a very long

°•.☆|| Grammar ||☆.•°

So, were at the grammar already. Ho boi. This is actually one of the things I really like. Many people may find the grammar to be one of the most difficult parts when learning a new language, to me it comes easiest. So with that said, let's delve right into it.

The common word order in Sivásma is S | O | V That means Subject, Object, Verb. So for example:

I | the food | eat

The role of certain words in a sentence are determined with little particles like in Japanese. For example, with posession, instead of "My cat" or "Bob's burgers" you basically say:

I | of | cat     or     Bob | of | burgers

When you have more than one of a certain thing you just stick a little plural part behind that word, I said I would come back to this. It's Si. The exeption to this are the personal pronouns:

Ja | first person singular

Jatesh | first person plural

An | second person singular

Andesh | second person plural

Ailá | third person singular

Ailátesh | third person plural

Qaf | non-specific person, kinda similar to how one might choose to use "one" in English.

And the last little sub-part of this section is verb conjugation. There's quite a few more forms than in English, but it's all very regular. There are two kinds of verbs, Á verbs and E verbs, and they all follow the same pattern:

Hello Hatchlings, Lilin Kaiko here. I haven't posted on here in a very long

With the inversive case we turn the meaning around. So for example the sentence "I hit my friend" becomes "I am getting hit by my friend." You can do this instead saying "my friend hits me." Excuse me for all the violence.

The Absolute case applies when you state things that just factually Are. Like "The sky is blue" or "Dogs are animals." You can also use it to make a stronger point when you're arguing with someone.

°•.☆|| Script ||☆.•°

This section will be short. I do not have a script yet. However, I will make one. It'll probably get it's own separate post when it's done.

°•.☆|| Post-Challenge Questions ||☆.•°

1. How difficult was your ConLang to create/learn?

Quite difficult, and still far from finished, but also a lot of fun.

2. Would you create/learn another ConLang?

I've been trying to create conlangs all my life, so there's a high probability I'll make another one in half a year or so. Though, I think this is the farthest I've come so far. I have not yet found another conlang that I care enough about to actually learn myself.

3. How often will you use this ConLang in your magick?

Don't know yet, though I'm sure I could find a use for it.

°•.☆|| Closing Words ||☆.•°

Thank you for reading if you made it this far, a thanks to the creative for making this challenge. It was just that little extra push I needed to actually get going for once with this conlang stuff. Again, there's still a lot to be done, but I'm looking forward to expabding this into an actual language that can be spoken properly.

But that's all for now.

Have a blessed day.

Love,

                Kaiko ♡
