A Short Story (Kazi×OC)

This Story has a mute character in it. Anything "said" by her is sign. I will be posting a guide to understanding her personal signs she's established. Iilmadia is the Mute Character, meaning she cannot speak. She can hear just fine. This is just how Kazi and Iilmadia meet.

The Silent Moonflower and The Dim Sun

Iilmadia was wandering around Lux Aurea aimlessly. The golden city was blinding, and her sight wasn't doing well here. She was better at night, but it was broad daylight. She didn't know what to do. Nobody seemed to understand her when she signed.

"Can't anyone understand me?"

She sighed. Surely there had to be someone.

Suddenly, she slammed straight into someone's back. A taller, lithe, Sunfire Elf. They flinched and turned around as Iilmadia slammed into them, and Iilmadia noticed she couldn't tell if they were male or female. The elf had dark skin, and dark brown dreads that went foward and faded subtly into red.

This elf was wearing a long white tunic and black pants and boots. They wore a nice vest over the tunic that held a burnt orange color, and all of their clothing bore a shining golden trim, except their glasses, which were a dark gray. Iilmadia also noticed the elf's lack of markings.

"Are you alright?"

The elf asked her.

"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!"

Iilmadia signed.

"Do not worry about it. You are the one that fell."

The elf signed back to her.

Iilmadia was stunned. This elf understood her? Why were they the only one?

"I- I think I'm okay."

Iilmadia answered.

"Oh, good. Would it be alright if I knew your name? My name is Kazi."

The elf told her.

Iilmadia felt oddly comforted. She smiled a little bit, and nodded.

"I am Iilmadia. You know how to sign?"

Kazi nodded, then offered a hand to help Iilmadia up, and Iilmadia took it. She was surprised when Kazi couldn't actually lift her up, so Iilmadia stood up without realizing she was still holding Kazi's hand, then, when she noticed, she pulled her hand away, embarrassed.

Iilmadia was squinting at the brightness of the city, still, and Kazi looked concerned. They carefully pulled away.

"You are not from Lux Aurea. What kind of elf are you?"

Kazi asked

"My mother is a Moonshadow elf. My father is an Earthblood elf."

Iilmadia told them.

"Your eyes must not be used to such bright light."

Kazi remarked.

"We can go elsewhere in the city, if you would like to continue talking."

Iilmadia noded.

"Yes, please."

Kazi offered a hand to guide her, and the young elven woman carefully grabbed her hand, then began walking with them.

"Thank you, Kazi."
