Personality

Akemi is a sweet kid, with a heart of gold. Generosity is her bread and butter, as she can constantly be seen cooking food for other people, prioritizing their needs over her own. However, this is true for her friends, and her bullies. She's a pushover, a doormat as some people describe. This gives her trouble when she has to stand up for herself, as she would rather be hurt than hurt someone else, regardless of how evil they may be. She's also really shy, which doesn't help her case here. What it does do, however, is make her socially awkward at best, and completely self-isolated at worst.

Backstory

Akemi's life has been nothing short of brutal and unforgiving. Starting with her birth, which her mother ed away from. Akemi never even got to meet her. However, she got two things from her that day. Her name, and an old plush rabbit that she still has to this day. Akemi grew up to look almost exactly like her mom, which greatly upset her father. He already despised her for "taking his love away", and wanted nothing to do with her. Going so far as to burn her with cigarettes, throw empty cans and bottles at her until she left his sight, and routeinly yell at her, wishing she was never born. Because if she wasn't, his wife would still be alive.

Not all was lost, however. Ashley, her older sister, did her absolute best to raise Akemi. Despite not being her parent, Ashley raised Akemi like a caring mother would, while still acting like an older sister. However, she was constantly busy with other matters, which meant Akemi had to grow up mostly on her own. She taught herself how to cook and be quiet, lest she encure her father's wrath. However, that didn't last too long. When Akemi was about 6 years old, her home was raided by the police, and her sister (who was the region's detective), only to find her father dead at his favorite chair. Only himself and Akemi were found in the home, and no signs of a home invasion were reported.

After the gruesome discovery, Ashley brought Akemi into her apartment. The two began to live together, with Ashley as Akemi's legal guardian. Her school life soon after wasn't any much better. Due to her meek attitude and pushover personality, she became a very popular target for bullies. She was relentlessly tormented by her peers, for everything. But she never reported them. She never fought back. She just let it happen, as she didn't want anyone to be mad at her, nor did she want to hurt anyone, regardless of if they deserved it or not. It got so bad that she attempted to talk to her mother from beyond the grave, using ouiji boards and attempting seances, to no avail.

Years of this continued. With Ashley being absent due to her work, the school kids running her through the ground, and her continued failed attempts for help, she was growing desperate, and hopeless. She heard rumors of a haunted house, a place in her small town that holds the closest link to the afterlife, she knew it would be her best chance to her late mother. However, people who enter the house, as local legend says, never come back out, or at least not the same. She didn't care about what happened to her at this point, she wanted help, or a way out. She entered the house, and began to set up a seance ritual. Things were going as planned, until something snuck up behind her and caused her to fail the ritual.

Surprisingly, a ghost was behind her! After the failed seance, the ghost was forever bound to Akemi's body and soul, meaning they were now inseparable. A spector that now watches over Akemi at all times, the ghost introduced herself as Elizabeth Heathcliff, a young girl about Akemi's current-day age with a similar body shape, but wearing a black, silky dress. Anyone could see or hear Elizabeth, but only Akemi could physically interact with her, and vice versa. Elizabeth was a prankster who scolded Akemi for doing this to her, but after seeing her everyday life, she decided to toughen her up, and make her grow a backbone. This much continued, until one day when she was 14, when a four-pointed white star engulfed her, and her sister (taking Elizabeth with her too). Nobody quite knows where they went...

TL;DR - Akemi moves in with her sister at the age of 6, after her mother and father both die early in her life. Her father was a bad person, but students at school were probably worse. In a desperate attempt to reach to her late mom, as Ashley was too busy to be around all the time, she went to an infamously dangerous haunted house to perform a seance. However a ghost, who would introduce herself as Elizabeth, scared her and caused the ritual to backfire, binding the two together. While initially dreading it, Elizabeth decided to help Akemi not "be a doormat", and fight back against her tormentors.

Abilities

Wait- What?

Akemi does have a unique ability. All of the food she cooks has a magical healing power, which can heal any ailment or injury, including serious diseases such as malaria, dementia, and cancer along with serious injuries like broken bones, blindness, or even amputation. When there's no food to cook, she can still summon the magical food with the help of her trusty frying pan.

She's also able to swap her body with Elizabeth. While Liz loses the healing ability, she is stronger and faster than Akemi. When this happens, Akemi's blue eyes are replaced with Elizabeth's brown eyes, and Akemi is reduced to a ghost who can regain control whenever she wants.
