Daniel James Howell was born on June 11, 1991. Dan was born in Wokingham, Berkshire. Before YouTube, Dan worked in retail chains and a supermarket called Asda.

In 2010 he went to the University of Manchester to study law but soon dropped out to focus more on video making as a profession.

Since August 2011, Dan and Phil Lester have been living together

Fans first ever video was entitled "HELLO INTERNET" onto his first channel "danisnotonfire" which was published on October 16, 2009

He also has a second channel entitled danisnotinteresting

In 2012 Dan won the competition "SuperNote"

In November 2014, Dan won the "Lovie Internet Video Personality of the Year"

On September 12, 2014 Dan and Phil created their channel DanandPhilGAMES

On April 1, 2015 Dan and Phil created a channel called DanandPhilCRAFTS

In January 2013 Dan and Phil became BBCs Sunday entertainment

Four months after starting the show, it won the Sony Golden Headphones award.

In August 2014, it was announced that their show would be broadcast on the 24 of August moving to Monday night under a new title, The Internet Takeover

In 2015 Dan and Phil had voices cameo appear in the UK release of Big Hero 6 as Technician 1 and 2

On 2 February 2016 his BBC Three esports documentary "The Supergamers" aired

On March 25, 2016 Dan and Phil announced that they had written a book!

They also went on a UK and USA book tour shortly after

It also became a #1 New York Times Bestseller in the young adult hardcover list
