Hello everyone!
This is my entry for the GSA and the movie I choose was The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. It is my favorite movie and book of all time, I knew I had to write about it.
For reference-
Charlie is now Dan
Patrick is now Phil
I wrote mine around my favorite scene in the movie/book and wrote it in the style Charlie does in the book.

Dear Friend,
Since that day at school when I punched Brad’s friends, I’ve gotten all my friends back. When they saw me defend Phil they decided to put our past or more my past mistakes behind us and we are all talking again. Phil and I have been hanging out more. We drive around town a lot late at night and park the car to look out at the stars. Im trying my best to comfort Phil by listening to him when we watch the sky or when he rambles as we drive. I don’t say much though.
He is sad, really sad but he pretends he is alright. He might be fooling some of our friends but Sam and i know how he really is feeling. I see his lingering looks when Brad es us in the hallways. I see the heartbroken look Brad gives him when Phil won’t even acknowledge him. I know this is how Phil is dealing with his feelings, ignoring them till they disappear. He is hurting himself and Brad even more from this. Brad doesn’t deserve to get him back but i see how much he regrets hurting Phil.
One night when Phil and I were heading up to the usually spot were we sit and watch the stars, Phil started talking about his future after high school. How he’s going to college in a couple of months and it will all be different there. He talked about all the posters he wanted to hang up and his wish to have a open brick wall. I listened nodding when needed. We pulled up to our spot and hopped out. We settled down on the rail looking over the hill with a bottle of wine and start sharing stories about people from school.
“Do you know the story about Lily Miller? Your brother may have told you this one.”
“No i don’t think so.”
“Perfect, so Lily was a senior when i was a sophomore. She started dating this guy Parker who was always a lead in the plays. One of their dates was a picnic and like any teens it started to get frisky right? They realised they didn’t have a condom so guess what they did.”
“They stopped and went home to get one?”
“Nope! They used a sandwich bag!”
Phil breaks out into giggles, clutching his sides. I stare at him with my mouth agape.
“No way!”
“Yes!”
“NO!”
“YES!”
We both start laughing, the almost empty wine bottle between us. Our laughs soon die down to quiet chuckles then to little giggles. We sit for what felt like hours staring out at the lit up sky. Phil puts the empty bottle on the ground and turns to me.
“I don’t think i ever thanked you Dan for that day in the cafeteria.”
“You don’t have to thank me.”
“I wanted to.”
“Okay.”
Silence settles between us till Phil speaks again.
“Why can’t you save anybody?”
“I don’t know.”
“Forget it…. Im free now right? I can meet the love of my life any second.”
He sighs and runs his fingers through his hair.
“Things will be different now and that’s good and i just need to meet a good guy.”
I wasn’t sure how to respond.
“Yah.”
Phil stares at me in the eyes for a couple of seconds till he pushed his lips onto mine. He cupped my jaw and pushed his lips onto mine harder. I kissed him back cause i knew he needed it. He starts to shake from sobs when he pulls away. He falls into my arms and cries into my shoulder
“Hey, it’s alright, it’s okay. It’s alright”
I repeat over and over again to calm him down. After a couple minutes of crying his breathing evens out enough for him to talk. He starts to talk about brad again. And I just let him, because that’s what friends do.
