My favorite is Ocarina of Time

Considering the technology and the standard of the times it was released, it gives an epic story and excellent gameplay.

As a High Fantasy writer, I am actually more into the story and mythology development than I am the gameplay, though gameplay is both great and fun.

The story of the Hero of Time and the battle of the Triforce is a masterpiece.

I love the Legend of Zelda for its richness in its vast library of tales of the different legends and how they connect. And while I view Skyward Sword as the “Root” of the legends, I view the tale of the Ocarina of Time as the “Heart” of the legends as all of the legends that follow and Time itself are bound to the fruit of the Hero of Time’s achievements and failures.

I find the Hero of Time’s tale to be the most unique unique as well as the most dramatic.

For me, Skyward Sword is a dramatic romance, the Twilight Princess is dramatic as a hero of self conflict finds himself as he "sets matters straight", and Breath of the Wild while beginning in tragedy the Hero finds himself, there is a theme of dramatic romance, and all is again simply set straight. But the Hero of Time's tale is the only one that is simply a dramatic tragedy. While his adventures always end with a light beaming hope, he, in reality, never gets to have that hope as darkness always returns to him to despair when he eventually he falls in it.

All of the tales are dramatic, but it is the one of tragedy that I find the most dramatic. For tragedy and sorrow is often a key element in drama as it is one that we often relate to the closest. And so it is in any story: the greater the loss, the greater the sorrow, and the greater the sorrow, the greater the drama.

I would also like to add that for me, the Hero of Time is the most iconic Hero of the franchise and so sets the standard by which all of the heroes are measured by. While the Hero of the Wild “raises the bar” a bit, he is still measured by that standard.

Ganondorf is at his brilliance in OOT. I look at who he is at this time in the tales, Ganondorf Dragmire, King of the Gerudo. He cunningly manipulates and sets the pieces in his coup as he accesses the Triforce. Thus giving birth to the heart of the legends as the Triforce splits, and hence, in his seven year reign over Hyrule, he attains his prime sinister role and becomes the most iconic villain of the franchise around which the entire story of the franchise pivots.

The Hero of Time’s Battle with Ganondorf Dragmire, the conquering King of Hyrule and the King of Evil, is my favorite battle.

I personally see this moment as the climax in summit of all the franchise. This is when Ganondorf is at the peak of his power in his prime. This is the moment where it is decided what happens to the fate of the Triforce. This is the moment that decides how Time should play out. The Triforce had been split seven years prior, and this moment decides how it shall remain split.

It is here that I find Ganondorf to be most intimidating and the most sinister menace.

In Twilight Princess, I merely see him as a reckless and mad man as a pale shadow of his former self. Who merely reenacts a more devastating episode.

It is the battle in “Ocarina of Time” that I find to be the most Epic.
