amon is the most badass villain in the legend of avatars series

i’m currently in a bit of an avatar legends phase after recently rewatching both atla and tlok ! once i read the prompt, i immediately knew that i wanted to do something avatar related, and i chose to do one villain from both of the existing shows.

for atla, i picked azula. i mean, ozai was pretty intimidating, but can we talk about his daughter ? she’s fantastically written. people tend to overlook her trauma, but i think that it’s a big part of her manipulative character. her mom gave all of her affection to zuko,

and even thought of azula as a monster, so she resorted to seeking praise from her abusive father. my favorite part of her character is where she has an absolute mental breakdown and goes haywire while fighting with zuko and katara. it’s so frightening to watch her slip into insanity throughout the finale.

now, as for tlok, this was even more obvious. amon is terrifying. especially before you learn that he’s a bender. like… this random guy can just take bending away ? taking away bending is apart of what’s called energy bending, but it seems to be limited to the avatar.

what’s even scarier is that he’s the closest thing to a real villain that we’ve ever seen in avatar legends. the equalist movement closely resembles events that we’ve seen in the real world. he’s just so.. real. and manipulative. somehow it gets even darker when we realize how he’s taking away bending, and i can’t express how weird i felt sympathizing with him.
