Loneliness

On my Tumblr blog, I've offhandedly mentioned several times that Disgrace!Toffee locked himself inside his house out of grief of losing baby Festivia. But I haven't really gone into detail about it, so here it is:

Yes. Juno disappeared into the Realm of Magic before they even went back home. So Toffee returned to Pie Island by himself. And maybe, just maybe he could've moved on with his life....if the Magic High Commission hadn't come back several times over the next few months with all sorts of inane questions about how to take care of the baby. "What date is her birthday? What are her allergies? Has she had any magical exposure? Why doesn't she like the toys we give her? Breast-fed or bottle-fed?" As if losing her wasn't hard enough already. To add salt on wounds, they just kept bombarding him with questions about how to take care of his own daughter, knowing they had no intention of just letting him help or even see her.

Eventually Toffee got fed up and shut them out. He shut everything out. Locked his doors, boarded up his windows, ceased communication, and basically only left his house for work and necessities by use of dimensional scissors.

Alone with his grief. Alone with his thoughts. Alone with the Magic call constantly ringing in his ears. And it stayed that way for ten years.
