Janna checked herself one again in the school restroom's mirror. Cool new clothes? Check. Brushed hair? Double check! Guts to confess her love to Star? ...uh-oh.

Janna groaned and leaned closer to the mirror. She glared at her reflection and shook her head in disappointment.

The blunette's been trying for at least a few weeks to confess her attraction to a certain magical princess from another dimension. Every day she would go up to her and make futile attempts at flirting with said girl. A bad pick-up line here, another one there, and those awkward finger guns, too. Most of the times, it would result into embarrassing situations like Janna giving up and walking away.

But not this time. This time, she was going to succeed because she was crazy enough to think she could.

She checked the time on her phone and kept telling herself it was going to be okay. Taking a long, calming breath, she popped her head out the restroom door and checked the hallway.

It was pretty crowded, but Janna spotted her immediately.

Right there, at the end of the hall, stood Star Butterfly—the prettiest, cutest, flawless and most interesting girl in the whole school—her crush.

Janna started to wonder how the hell she ended up crushing on her friend. Well, now that she actually thought about it, it happened sometime last month. It was no special day in particular. In fact, it was a pretty dull day. At first. She could the afternoon sun beaming through the classroom's blinds as her eyes darted from classmate to classmate. Judging from her lazy posture and the bangs under her half-closed eyes, you could tell she was definitely bored. Her entire body was basically yelling "kill me right now". But something on her right caught her attention. Her neighbor, Star, was doodling random stuff in her math notebook and humming a song Janna could recognize as Marco's phone ringtone. The girl's lips were curled up into a tiny smile. That's when Janna's eyes widened. Sweat started to run down her forehead and she could feel her cheeks warming up as she stared at the girl beside her. Oh. Oh no, The blunette straightened her back in her seat and wiped the sweat away from her face. She watched her friend from the corner of her eyes and thought, "What the heck is going on?"

Ah yes, one of the best days of Janna's life.

Star didn't have to do anything special in order to melt Janna's heart. And it bothered the blunette when she realized how long it took her to notice her crush on the princess.

And ever since, literally every word exchange between the two girls has either been awkward conversations or just briefs "hellos" as they brushed past each other in the hallways. And most of their short chats consisted of Janna trying her best to talk properly to Star and failing miserably.

Janna snapped herself back to reality and gathering all her courage, she went up to Star. As she was getting closer, she noticed that the princess was leaning against her locker and talking to no one else but the lovable Jackie. Notice that sarcasm there?

Lifting her head up, Jackie noticed her approaching friend and smirked. Finally she had the guts to talk to Star again. She internally applauded her. "Yo, Janna!", she greeted the girl with a wave as she came to a halt.

"Janna Banana!", Star squealed and threw herself in the arms of her friend. Janna, of course, returned the hug happily.

Jackie smirked once again as she noticed a slight blush painting the blunette's cheeks and the warm look in her eyes. "Oh, hey! There's Marco! I guess I'll be going...see you around, then!" She finger gunned Janna before taking off.

"Byeeee Jackieee!" Star waved happily at her friend until she was out of sight. In the meantime, Janna had successfully leaned her elbow against the blonde's locker and had the dorkiest grin on her face. Star couldn't help herself but laugh slightly.

Come on, Ordonia—this is your chance. "Hey Star...you know what?"

The princess smirked and raised an eyebrow.

"If you were an angle, you'd be acute one."

Star's smirk faded and her expression changed to confusion. "Wh...what? Janna...you know I'm bad at math," she told her friend with a laugh.

Dammit, Janna. You blew it. Congrats on winning the award for the dumbest pick-up line ever. Good job. "Crud, crud, crud...", she muttered, trying to come up with a smooth recovery, or anything else that would make the conversation less awkward than it already was.

Little did Janna know that Star secretly loved it when the blunette stumbled on her words and messed up.

"Hold on, I have more," Janna smiled nervously and cleared her throat, "Is your name nobody? Because someone said nobody's perfect."

"N-no...my name's Star...but that one was nice!"

Janna was starting to lose hope. But she wasn't going to give up. "Are your hands feeling heavy? Cause I can hold them for you."

"Again...no..." Star looked lost, although she had a vague idea of what Janna's choice of words meant. She knew about...Janna's "secret"—Jackie told her.

Janna inhaled. "Your...your lips look lonely. Would they like to meet mine?"

If Star was drinking something at that moment, she would have spit it out all dramatically like in those sitcoms she'd recently started to watch. Instead, she just choked on air. She didn't quite see that coming.

"I-I'm sorry!" Janna took a couple of steps backwards. That was not her plan.

The princess held her hands up. "Okay, I'm tired of all this."

Before Janna could react, Star grabbed the blunette's wrists, pulled her closer and kissed her. Janna blinked multiple times to make sure all that was actually real. And it was. Star Butterfly was kissing her! It was a pity Star didn't want to let go of her wrists, but it was still better than anything else she could have imagined. Janna was still shocked by Star's actions, and it all happened so fast, she didn't even get the chance to kiss back properly. Just when Janna thought it was over—though she still wasn't sure if she was dreaming or not—Star turned them over and pressed the blunette's back against the locker and began kissing her again. The princess cupped the other girl's face and she couldn't help but think about how well their lips fit together, even though the only reason for kissing Janna was to make her stop talking nonsense.

Honestly, Janna should have known by then that Star took everything literally.

The blunette didn't have the guts to actually touch Star after she let go of her wrists. She didn't know for how long they kissed, but it sure did seem like an eternity. With a slight taste of strawberry.

When Star pulled away, Janna's face was a deep shade of red and she couldn't feel her legs.

Then, the most uncommon thing happened—Star winked at her and just...left.

It took her a while to process what had just happened, but what really made her come back to reality was a loud, familiar "OOOOOOOHHH MY GOD" that seemed to come from around a corner...
