It's not the same thing. If Star kissed Marco, it would show she likes him enough to risk their friendship on forcing him to decide if he likes her or not. If Marco kissed Star, it would show that he likes her enough to enter a relationship with her, and that he has became courageous enough though the charter development he has had since he met Star to kiss his best friend.
