Challenge #2 [Entry 2/2] Backstory

From Nici’s point of view:

‘After the war broke out over the only two infinity stones known, I felt like I had to go, and do something. Even though I am pretty shy, I decided that it was time for me to stand up and fight for my people.’

“What’s that?” my best friend points at the book that I am currently writing in.

“Well, it is a book with all of my thoughts before we reach the heart of the war. Just in case it can be used later. I know I have said this before, but thank you for ing the war with me, I know I couldn’t have done this without you Fuluv.” I tell him.

We are on our way to recruit of our team which we decided to name, The Black Velvets. After Eclipsa Butterfly defeated Mrs. Heinous from St. Olga’s Reform School for Wayward Princesses, it did not take long for word to get out about the spells that she used. One being “Black Velvet Inferno”. Although me and many friends ired her, many older mewmans looked down on Eclipsa. I guess this shows how time really doesn’t change.

We reach Mewni Castle, which has since become a conference place for important events. Inside what used to be the throne room, the two sides of the war so far, Brainstormers and Soul Inferno, are trying to come to an agreement, but it is doubtful that they will leave without making the war worse.

“Excuse me.” I say quietly. The yelling continues, everybody is too caught up in the war to notice a quiet person trying to whisper her way into battle. Deciding I want people to take me seriously, I straighten my back and raise me voice. “Excuse me!” The argument stops and everyone turns to me.”Hello, my name is Nici, and I believe that you knew that I was coming here.”

“Well, yes.” one general murmurs.

“Then you know why I am here.” I walk closer to the table. “You people seem to be fighting for more and more power. What good is power when there are no people? You fight for these stones, but you do not take into the fact that each stone is worth countless lives. Including those of my village. I have come here today to request something of both of you. I would like to start a group that will slowly grow throughout Mewni to protect people from the bloodshed of your war, and I am requesting safe age of my people through the war zones.” I do not want to say the name because I will definitely cause controversy among these older mewmans. This idea seemed like it had a chance of not working, so to my, very visible, delight, the leaders agree.

As our Black Velvets grows and grows, we find new ways to help more people at once. We are on a trip right now to help people relocate to a safer home, away from the war. We used a vehicle that a friend from Earth brought us. Many adults who were relocating had children with them. A couple hours into the trip, one of the children with us, named Serena, comes to me and says she broke something. It is probably a part of the Earth technology that I do not understand. Being the child that she is, Serena pulls at the broken part again, and again, until a green stone is pulled out of the vehicles wall with a pop. At the touch of Serena’s hands, the stone begins to emit a strange glow, and she drops it on the floor.

I pick up the stone and examine it. There was something oddly familiar about this unfamiliar object. That was when I figured it out.

“Fuluv! Look. This looks very similar to the stones that we saw at Mewni Castle, doesn’t it?” I ask.

“I do not know. We didn’t get to see them very well.” he replies.

While resting halfway through the trip, I am woken by Serena’s mother standing above me, holding the glowing stone, repeating,”Past, present, future.”

I look at her for a moment, and say her name,”Zara.” Noticing that I am awake, she gets out of her trance-like state and attempts to hide the stone.

“What is it?” I ask her, pointing at the stone. “What does the stone do?”

“I am sorry. I shouldn’t have taken it.” she apologizes. “I am a researcher of mystical objects and the time stone is one of my most studied-”

“Time stone?” I interrupt. “One of the infinity stones?”

She nods. “Oh, yes. You can see it is the time stone by it’s unusual green glow and power.”

All I can do was stare at her, dumbfounded. This is the third stone. Fuel added to the already blazing inferno of the war. Suddenly, it was as if a switch was flipped in my head that changed me into a greedy, power hungry monster like the others. I snatched the stone from Zara’s hand. “Don’t touch it. Ever again.”

It has been some months since I discovered the stone, and I still the moment when I ed the war, even if I didn’t know it. With the stone in my hand, I changed The Black Velvets from a refuge to an army. Nothing like that has happened since. Now I work to bring peace to the Amino lands and use our resources as an army to not fight, but protect the people outside and defend our own.
