a girl by the ocean / ghibli aesthetic challenge

Since I have way too much freetime right now, I decided to the Aesthetic Challenge.

My post is a combination of two of my favourite child characters of Ghibli - Mei from Totoro and Setsuko from Grave of the Fireflies.

I’ve always loved the beautiful nature in Ghibli movies and for this entry I wanted to create something Ghibli-like but at the same time make it look personal.

Sunsets are my favourite which I added into my gif/entry.

The aesthetic of this gif is more Totoro since nature appeals in the movie more.

Yet, the ocean is seen in Grave of the Fireflies when Setsuko and Seita went playing there so this scene is a combination of both of the films.

I think this gif tells two different stories.

First one is that the girl in this picture is Mei and she has found a secret path to the ocean.

Second one is that after Setsuko’s death, she can life happily in that kind of place with her brother.

Well, hope I did this challenge correctly.

If not, it’s okay, I had fun doing this :grin:
