Without no doubt.... the first father that comes into my mind, is the father from My Neighbor Totoro. Tatsuo Kusakabe, throughout the movie, I was keep telling myself... “What a great dad!” He’s always so bright towards the girls... always trying hard to make them the happiest at times! Even during there mom at the hospital. And for what fantasy belief the girls have, he doesn’t just it it and say they aren’t true. He goes with it, making there childhood really a fantasy. And when Mei was on Totoro’s belly sleeping, then woke up on the ground with Totoro nowhere to be seen. She told her dad that Totoro really is real, and I’m not lying. Most times parents will just tell the child that for what there believing isn’t true. But the dad replies in saying, “I believe you. But sometimes the forest spirits don’t want to be seen. And you seeing them makes you a very lucky girl. Come on, let’s give the forest spirits a proper greeting!” And I think... someone who has a father like that... really is lucky... when Satsuki and Mei are in the house. The dad tells
them excitingly, “Hey! Who can find the attic door in the house!” As a fun activity for the girls to have fun... or maybe when Satsuki tells the dad that the house is haunted, with a worried look on her face. While the dad responds grinning, “I’ve always wanted to live in a haunted house! Ever since I was a little boy”. Another example of him being positive, is when he was in the bathtub with Satsuki and Mei. They were hearing noises from the ceiling, and Mei and Satsuki was scared. And the dad said, “Everybody try laughing, then whatever scares you will go away”. He started laughing loud, and so Satsuki too. And Satsuki started tickling Mei to make her laugh. And they were all acting childish in the bathtub, saying so as the dad did too. But they loved it... one happy humorous family! :blush: :sparkling_heart:
