--SYNOPSIS--
This is the story of a gem called Melanite also known as the 'Gem hunter' in homeworld. Inquisitor, personal bodyguard and a member of White diamond's court. After being transferred to Earth under White diamond's personal orders, Melanite's adventure has just begun...

Some of the characters in my story are from canon, they are made by Rebecca sugar. My gemsona and the rest are made up by me. It is to make the story as near authentic as possible to the actual show. A kind of novel spin-off.

-CHAPTER 1-
Roughly 5,600 years ago, in the bustling night, under the bright filled homeworld skylight. Between its high rise buildings, somewhere along the maze of dark and cold alleyway, rushed footsteps and whimpering were heard echoing. This is the dark side that no one knows existed only to those who have already been there. In this particular night, a shadow is in pursuit...
Moonlight jade: (Running and whimpering) "Please no!! Please!! (Panting) "Just let me go!!"
-A dark figure in pursuit of her from behind, running and jumping from one rooftop to the other-
Moonlight jade: (Panting) "Get away from me!!"
While escaping this dark figure, Moonlight jade failed to realize her surroundings and trips down, the pursuit is now over. The figure drops down and now towers over the fallen jade, standing mere inches away from her.
Moonlight jade: (Trembling beg) "Please.. please ple- please please I- I'll do anyth- anything you w-want" (Kneeling) "J- just let m- me go"
Moonlight jade raise her head and sees a figure with a commanding presence, who's face was partially hidden in shadows under a hood, bearing an axe, pointing right at Moonlight jade's gem on her chest. Moonlight jade shook her head in terror as this figure begins to speak.
Melanite: "Moonlight jade Facet 248 cabochon-10... You are charged with high treason against Homeworld and the diamond authority, for taking part in aiding with the escape of a high profile rebel sympathizer known as moonstone, one of the oracles from my diamond's court along with several other charges such as espionage, sedition and infidelity.
This is merely a sentencing hearing as per our conduct, You have been found guilty under these charges and by the laws of the diamonds your penance.. is shattering."
Moonlight jade finds herself in disbelief as she looks at Melanite, her eyes, cold and unyielding. Moonlight jade tries to deny the charges brought up against her.
Moonlight jade: "No! It can't be, these allegations against me are simply not true and unfounded!! Please spare me!!"
Melanite takes out and holds a device that projects a recording of Moonlight jade herself, escorting Moonstone and her protection detail into a cargo ship bound for a space station near earth.
Melanite: "So tell me then.. is this not you? as far as I can tell the gem here that is escorting Moonstone into the cargo ship in this recording happens to have the exact same gem placement as you. Not to mentioned a jade such as yourself also has enough connection and power to purposely stow away any gem on a ship and make that time window without anyone knowing, Am I wrong...? No..? I thought so"
-Melanite threw the device in front of Moonlight jade-
Melanite: "What interests me to you is not the fact that you aligned yourself with a known rebel sympathizer, but because you, are the cause that my diamond's court has now one less oracle, do you know how hard it is, to make a moonstone? Not an easy task, I assure you"
Moonlight jade, knowing that she couldn't get herself out of the situation anymore, quickly cease her petty begging and change her tune.
Moonlight jade: "Heh(smirk), I knew sooner or later you're gonna come for me. I just didn't think you'd be this quick though. Guess they didn't call you Melanites inquisitor for nothing either, and especially you, O' mighty gem hunter.. (sarcastically smirk), sometimes I wonder, what's it like when you shatter gems huh? Do you find joy in it? Does it amuse you to kill off your own kind hmm? what do you know about the first thing in making gems when you're the one who's destroying them..
A war is coming.. and it is inevitable, change, is inevitable. Best to choose a side wisely. I've chosen mine and I've made peace with it. Have you?"
Melanite looked at Moonlight jade dead in the eye unflinching, then with a pull of the trigger. Her axe shoots out a spike rod, shattering Moonlight jade into pieces.
Melanite: "Well I can tell you that it pretty much felt like that... and no, I do not find joy within my duties, instead I find solace in them, and I am an inquisitor, its my job to know things"
Moonlight jade, now shattered into pieces, scattered on the floor. Melanite just stood there without showing a shred of remorse. She pulls out a communication device
-opening the comms device-
Melanite: "This is Melanite facet 1A9G cut 7XQ reporting in, come in Aquamarine, I've neutralize another rebel sympathizer"
Aquamarine: "This is Aquamarine, ahh yes, my Melanite, congratulations on another successful hunt, who's the unlucky gem tonight that has warrant your attention this evening?"
Melanite: "The target, Moonlight jade facet 248 cabochon-10... , You should report this in to the Hessonite, its one of Yellow's, I'll deliver a full report to her soon, personally. As i have other matters to attend- (conversation halted)"
The conversation was cut short as Melanite immediately spins and swing her axe that was idle in her right hand backwards horizontally. Turns out a gem was approaching Melanite silently from behind thinking it was a good idea, of which she'll definitely regret soon. It was a Citrine.
Melanite: "(Sarcastically) You must've been overcooked in the head for too long, approaching a Melanite carelessly from behind shows your utter lack of better judgement and that you, have a death wish. Who are you and how did you find me? I suggest you state your business immediately..."
-Citrine is shocked and immediately raise both her arms-
Citrine: "P- Please don't harm me! My Melanite, I- I'm Citrine, facet 2L6H cut 7XJ. Forgive me, I didn't t- think it through properly. I've b- been dispatched by my diamond t- to deliver you a message personally"
-Melanite lowering her axe-
Melanite: "But I am to be expected later, to send in a report to Yellow diamond personally, she could've just told me then"
Citrine: "I- I'm sorry my Melanite(frightened tone), b- but My diamond said this is of the utmost u- urgency, My diamond told me that White herself requires your presence t- this instance. You've been summoned"
Melanite: "Very well, I shall answer my diamond's call, (points at Citrine) convey a message to your diamond, that I will send in a full report later to her myself after I've finish conducting whatever business my diamond needs, Oh! and while you're at it, clean this up will you?"
-Pointing towards the shattered pieces with her axe-
Citrine turn her head to where the axe is pointing and saw the shattered pieces of a gem formerly known as Moonlight jade, her eyes widened and her face silently reflects her inner thoughts, of fear and disgust.
Citrine: "Y- yes of course, A- as you wish, my Melanite" (Doing diamond salute)
Melanite: "Send the shards to Aquamarine over in inquisition, Whom I was speaking to just moments ago before you, abruptly ended our conversation with your incompetent behavior. Ask for 8YM. She'll take over from there, Now if you'll excuse me, I have an urgent matter to attend to"
-Melanite turned and walk-
As soon as Melanite finished talking, she turned away from Citrine and started to walk into the darkness, fading away from her view. In the first few moments, her footsteps could still be heard echoing in the dark, but as distance grew, the sound dissipates into silence.
Citrine just stood there, looking back at the shards of Moonlight jade, thinking back if Melanite hadn't stop her axe from closing in on her neck, she would've suffer the same fate as the gem that is now in pieces on the cold floor. She could do nothing except follow the order that was given to her.
Melanite through series of alleyways and corridors that is connected from one to the other between buildings like a complex maze system. This route is unknown to other gem kind, especially gems who are made in era 2 due to its ancient age. These routes are used primarily by the melanites as a means of going through one place to another without being seen, due to their inquisitorial nature, it is imperative that they must not be seen in public unless required to do so...

-CHAPTER 2-
With the bustling metropolis of homeworld on the surface, oblivious to a world below it, exist a myriad of complex pathways made from the ancient subterranean structure of the the old city and colonies. These pathways are used by gems who wishes to be unseen by the public, or by gems who wanted to escape from persecution and hide from those who are hunting them.
Within one of these ancient pathways, one melanite walks through it, en route to her diamond. As she walks through the decrepit old alleyways, the vibrations from the lively city up top travels below on a regular basis, when she ed through a corridor leading up to an open alley, next to it is a massive wall. Melanite look at the huge wall that has the symbol of the diamond authority, a testament to their power but its old and the wall has seen better days...
A sudden wave of vibrations came like clockwork, dust fell everywhere before settling, and as a ray of light es through above from a ing ship, Melanite gaze at the symbol only for it to reveal cracks in it, especially the lower half being nearly unrecognizable. Thinking nothing of it, Melanite hurried herself to her diamond.
Upon arriving at her destination, it leads to a hidden exit within white diamonds ship, Melanite is immediately greeted by White pearl.
-Melanite greeted by white's pearl-
White pearl: "Melanite 7XQ, Your presence is required by White diamond"
Melanite: "I'm well aware of that 'Pearl', bring me to my diamond"
White pearl: "Splendid, right this way, follow me"
Melanite and white pearl walks silently through the emptied halls until they arrived at white diamond's chamber. The sheer size of the doors to her chambers towers over their miniature figure.
-White pearl open the chamber door-
White pearl: "Please enter, my diamond awaits"
-Melanite steps inside white diamond's chamber-
As Melanite enters White diamond's chamber, White pearl steps back and close the gigantic doors behind her then left. Melanite proceed to meet her diamond, walking up to her, Melanite raise her head high as her diamond's figure towers over her.
Melanite: "(Doing the diamond salute) You've summoned me, my diamond?"
White diamond: "Ah... there you are, one of my most devoted gem"
Melanite: "(bowing down) I'm undeserving of such praise, my diamond. (raising her head) As much as I appreciate your kind words, I don't think complimenting me is the sole reason as to why you've summoned me.."
-White diamond open up a video monitor-
Melanite looks up and watch the video feed taken by one of Pink diamond's quartz shows a recording of several crystal gem taken during a skirmish on one of the colonies on earth. The video continues playing and then paused to the scene where two gems are in frame. Their leader, Rose quartz and her renegade pearl.
White diamond: "Yes, as you might've known, there's a disease being cast upon our empire, a disease known as the 'Crystal gem', although confined to earth, Pink's colony, their 'ideals' has spread throughout homeworld, and you, my melanite are one of many who have been working on ends and have been graciously offering 'help' to gems who've lost their ways"
-Melanite looking high at the monitor-
Melanite view the paused video, realized something profound, but held herself back as she is still uncertain. She needs more time to confirm what she had discovered. She dismisses the thoughts and proceeds to answer her diamond.
Melanite: "Indeed I am aware, my diamond, of the scourge Rose quartz has brought upon homeworld, its not just affecting the lesser gems, I've discovered that there's even some high ranking gems that do sympathize to their cause..
(bowing down)Forgive me for asking, my diamond, I know it is not my place, (raise her head) but I've heard chatters that yellow diamond has sent this so called 'Black pearl' to hunt down one of your missing moonstone. is this true?"
White diamond: "Indeed I have, I ordered the mission personally, what of it?"
Melanite: "(bowing down again) Nothing, my diamond, its just that I myself was planning on recovering that moonstone for you, as it is one of my many duties"
White diamond: "Rest assured Melanite, Its not that I don't trust your abilities to find her, I know you could do it but I have need of you elsewhere and it has a much higher priority"
Melanite: "(Doing the diamond salute) Anything you ask of me, my diamond, I shall accomplish without failure"
White diamond: "Good.. Very good.. I have new missions for you, as of now your new prime directive is, to go to Earth, and act as Pink's guard, Make sure no harm comes to her, and your secondary directive is, to oversee all operation of Pink's colony and find the source of the rebellion. Put an end to their, silly games. Your orders begin effective immediately"
Melanite: "(still in diamond salute and bows down) As you wish, my diamond"
-Melanite stand ready as she back face White diamond-
Melanite walk out of White diamond's chamber. The door to the chamber opens up and White pearl stood waiting outside by the entrance. Melanite halt and speak to the pearl.
Melanite: "Inform a crew to have a ship ready for Earth, my diamond requires my assistance to the colonies there"
White pearl: "Very well, I shall prepare the things necessary for your departure"
-Melanite then silently continue walking-
Melanite leave White diamond's ship and quickly disappear, taking the same obscure path that she took when she arrived. Having a few time to spare, she climb one of the high rise building, once at the top, she sat on the ledge and gaze upon the metropolis of homeworld one last time, the skyline filled with lights and colors, gems of higher and lower class bustling below going about their daily businesses.
Then without warning, Melanite base jumped from edge of the ledge, now free falling head first, Melanite closed her eyes, taking deep calming breaths, the wind from her falling travels throughout her body, her mind went blank and she finds peace. As she open her eyes, feeling refreshed and confident, she flip over, pulls out her axe then grapples over one of the hanging wires that's connecting from building to building then glides safely to a roof.
she ran with all her might, jumping over from one roof to the other. She heads for the inquisition headquarters, to prepare for her venture to Earth. When she arrived, she enters from above.
-Melanite open a hatch then drops down-
When she landed on the communications room, with the thump of her boots, Aquamarine and several other gems were taken back by her arrival.
Aquamarine: "Gah! (Nearly fell) My melanite, you surprised me... (Picking herself up) I take it your meeting with White diamond went well? I also received the shards from the Citrine that you've sent a while ago"
Melanite: "Good, could you on my full report to Yellow diamond? I need to prepare for my departure immediately. My services are required on Earth"
Aquamarine: "(Looking baffled) Earth? Why? There's a coup currently on that planet, not to mention most of the rebel forces are there, especially their leader, Rose quartz"
Melanite: "Which is exactly why I'm being transferred there, White diamond require me to make sure of Pink diamond's well being and assist our military forces there to handle the situation myself before it gets out of hand"
Aquamarine: "I see, (Looking assured) Very well, I'll see to it that your report reach Yellow diamond personally, when will you depart?"
Melanite: "Soon, but first, I need to prepare my equipments"
-Melanite walks off and exits from the comms room-
As Melanite was leaving, when she open the doors, another Melanite is entering from the other side. Both of them paused for a moment before talking to each other.
Melanite: "8XR, fancy seeing you here"
Melanite 8XR: "(Sarcastically smirk) well.. well.. if it isn't the gem hunter herself, 7XQ. I heard you're being transferred to Earth"
Melanite: "You heard right, our diamond's requires my assistance there, now if you'll excuse me, I have to prepare immediately"
-Melanite walk by 8XR-
As Melanite was ing by, 8XR turn around and speak.
Melanite 8XR: "(Angry tone) 7XQ! Just because our diamond personally ask for you, doesn't mean you're any better than the rest of us! that! (points at Melanite)"
-Melanite halt and looked back at 8XR then with a small nod, she says-
Melanite: "Be seeing you, 8XR"
-Melanite then continue walking away-
Melanite 8XR: "(Looking furious) Be seeing you too, 7XQ"
Once Melanite has done preparing her equipments, she took the hidden path again to the shipping docks. Before boarding, Melanite informs White pearl of her arrival on site. One transport ship has already been prepared for its departure to Earth, Led by a crew of nephrites and carrying a few other gems, its captain awaits their honored guest on the bridge.
Nephrite crew: "Captain, someone wants to set up a communication link. Its coming from the diamond channel"
Nephrite captain: "Proceed!"
-Video feed opens up on screen-
White pearl: "Captain, your guest has arrived, she will soon board your ship. , she is a member of White diamond's court and her emissary for the mission on Earth, You'd do well to obey her every command"
Nephrite captain: "(Doing the diamond salute) Understood! it shall be done"
-White pearl then disconnects-
Nephrite crew: "A member of White diamond's court? I wonder who she is, has to be someone important if White diamond personally sent her"
Nephrite captain: "I don't know but we're about to find out soon"
Melanite approach the vessel and boards it. she is greeted by one of the nephrite crew and ask for her presence on the bridge. Melanite then proceeds to make her way there. When the doors to the bridge opens, Melanite walks up to the captain.
Nephrite captain: "(Doing the diamond salute) Welcome aboard our transport ship, Nephrite facet 413 cabochon-12, I'm the captain here"
Melanite: "Melanite facet 1A9G cut 7XQ, Sorry for the sudden request of departure, I know you just got back from Earth but it is imperative that I reach there as soon as possible"
Nephrite captain: "(Surprised) 7XQ!? I've heard rumors about you, (bowing down) if I may be so bold to ask, what's your business on Earth, my melanite?"
Melanite: "I have no care for the 'rumors' you've heard of me. My diamond has personally requested me to be one of Pink diamond's guard and needs my assistance for the.. 'problems' on Earth"
Nephrite captain: "Pink, My diamond? Well then I shouldn't keep us here longer than we have to. We will make way for Earth immediately"
Melanite: "See to it that you do, I wouldn't want to prevent you from running your duties captain, I'll leave the commands of the vessel to you, should you have need me, I'll be in my quarters"
Nephrite captain: "(Doing the diamond salute) Thank you, my melanite"
Melanite leave the ship's bridge and settled into her quarters. As the ship left homeworld's atmosphere, Melanite look out into space from the windows of her room, The ships is now on its way to Earth, it will take some time before reaching there. For now melanite simply waits...

Side note:
The moonstone and Black pearl is actually a cameo from another artist named "Revolver-D", his comics revolving around 'Black pearl' interest me so much that I had to put his characters in as cameos. Not that I plan to intervene his storyline at all, that's for you readers to find out. (a spin-off from a spin-off) yeay more SU \( °A° )/
The nephrite in chapter 2 is also a cameo from a canon character. also known as centipeedle by SU fans.
If your gemsona pique my interest, I may asked your permission to use your gemsona as cameos or additional character because I wanted to expand my headcanon lore and I don't want to be biased to my own gemsona. Everybody deserves a spot :)
