Now, this is not really much of a theory, more of me just thinking random stuff and it just happens to fit together. And now what my thought is:

Emerald may perhaps the crystal gems

I CAN SEE YOU LEAVING BUT GIVE ME A SECOND TO EXPLAIN!

Now, lets start with the "new" diamond authority logo.

What is this in the middle? It appears to be a very small green triangle. Personally, I think this may represent the emerald that we have seen in the newest leaks. Why I beileve this is a possibility, is because Emerald appears to be a rather large gem, but defiantly smaller then one of the diamonds, which could represent why the triangle is so small. But based on homeworlds color coding system, Emerald will possibly be disowned by the diamonds. Let me show you an example.

Is has been made very clear that gems falling under a green category are on the lower part of the social status scale. This has mostly been shown through the great and lovable Peridot, as she is the only green gem besides Emerald at this point in the show. If more proof is needed about how green gems are disliked, then lets take a look at some dialogue for the episode "Message Received".

Yellow Diamond is clearly not interested at all if Peridot is ok, and is only asking about Jasper and the ship which is reasonable.

She will inform her manager about her incompetence, meaning that Peridot probably would've been in a bit of trouble once she got back to Homeworld.

This one is rather self explanatory.

"I'm not interested in the thoughts of a puny Peridot."

So then, that leaves the question:

"Why does it look as though Emerald is higher class gem?"

That could be answered with a simple answer, which is that all gems have a diffrent purpose when made. So perhaps an Emerald is meant to be the captain or at least the one who looks after ships, based on what we have heard from the leaks. But still,

Why is a green gem now being treated with respect?

Which is perhaps the whole point of this, Emerald will be seen as a disgrace to the diamonds for not being one of their colors. From what we have seen, Emerald has a rather loud and strong personality, but perhaps too naive. Even in the leaks, we hear that she is willing to destroy her supposed fastest ship just to catch Lars and The Off Colors. This could be frowned upon by the diamonds, causing them to permanently remove Emerald from the diamonds authority, since it has been seen that even the littlest of mistakes can have large consequences on Homeworld. Perhaps sending Emerald to Earth just too get rid of her, and ultimately starting the cycle of persuading a green gem to the crystal gems starts all over.

I don't know, this is just a random thing that I thought of while being deprived of sleep for 15 hours. I'm going to head to sleep now. =>
