Six thousand years ago, a gem BURST from the crust of homeworld. Obsidian glass.
A gem made for the sole purpose of mining and subsequently destroying planets from the inside out for raw materials to be processed, and used in many structures for the high ranking gems and diamonds alike.
But this gem was tired of being told what he had to do, and not be allowed to do what HE wanted to do. So, he fled home world in a stolen cargo ship in an attempt to start a new life some were else.
But it was no use. The ship was quickly shot down by a hessonite over seeing the production.
The lonely gem was blown out of the ship to drift for centuries through space.
Hundreds of years ed and by a very lucky chance, the gem plummeted down to the earth's surface at incredible speed (mach ten to be exact). However, his speed was so great it dissipated his form. The gem crashed down into a beach coast, the immense speed, friction and heat melted the surrounding sand into a glass prison around the gem.
A hundred more years , the constant back and forth motion of the waves buried the imprisoned gem deep into sand, and to be never seen again. Or so he thought.
