Hi folks!
I am hosting a BIG STEVEN UNIVERSE PARTY for the TV premiere of the movie. I love to be really organized and cute when I have parties, especially when it comes to the food, so I have made adorable food labels for the SU-specific dishes I'll be offering and I'd like to show them to you!
Here are the items I plan to serve!

Yes, the classic COOKIE CAT! How could I have a SU party without a pet for my tummy?
Serving strategy: The individually wrapped Cats will be stored in a small styrofoam cooler on my kitchen counter. There will be ice in the bottom and then freezer sheets to keep them cold without mess.
Status: The Cookie Cats have already been made! They are in my freezer.

Fry Bits are a great easy food and a classic favorite for SU fans.
Serving strategy: I will season and bake them in the oven, then provide an oil-spritzed slow cooker with a lid to keep them warm. Paper fry cartons will be stacked beside the cooker for serving into. I will have ketchup, mustard, vinegar, salt and pepper, hot sauce, and chili flakes out to use as condiments.
Status: I bought two bags of the frozen potatoes and they are in my freezer. I just have to cook them when guests arrive.

Together Breakfast is a tasty treat and so recognizable from the early days of the show!
Serving strategy: There will be a Together Breakfast assembly bar on one of my kitchen counters! I have organized it next to where I keep my toaster oven.
On the wall behind the oven, I have this:

It's an assembly graphic in case people don't know how to make a Together Breakfast!
Small plates are stacked by the toaster oven.
Waffles: Full size waffles seemed excessive for a party where there's so much else to eat, so I bought these:

They will be in a covered dish (with a little ice) so people can grab what they want.
Syrup: I will have out several syrups to choose from (lite, maple, agave nectar).
Popcorn: I will have the microwave popcorn popped and stored in a container that people can serve themselves from.
Whipped cream: I will just have the can out on the counter.
Strawberry: I will have a covered dish full of strawberries.
Other: For fun, I am providing a few extras to decorate waffles, like mini chocolate chips and candy sprinkles.
Status: All of these items have already been purchased. I'll just need to put out the items and pop the popcorn when people show up.

Fire Salt Donuts from "Joking Victim"! Donuts with a KICK!
Serving strategy: I'll have the pink-iced donuts on a covered glass platter and shortly before the guests arrive I'll put some yellow sugar crystals and Pop Rocks (for sizzle!) on the donuts.
Status: I don't have any donuts yet. I am going to buy some fresh ones close to the date. I will make the pink icing and put it on before I put them out.

Chaaaaps are a party essential! Especially if any Centipeetles are around!
Serving strategy: I plan to put out a couple bowls of chips. I have 2 of these labels for different flavors.
Status: My friend is bringing a couple bags of store-bought chips. This one's easy!

Serving strategy: I am gonna carve a baby melon shape to take a pic, then just do this typical melon rind bowl full of wedges. I'll do this the day of, and I'll have a platter set up with a picnic screen over it.
Status: I did not buy the melons yet. I have to get them at the store.

Serving strategy: I'll just have some plates sitting next to the pizza boxes on my stove.
Status: We'll order square pizza from a local shop--one meat, one cheese. I have made square pizza from scratch before, but for this, it's just not worth the extra effort.

Serving strategy: The sushi will be out on a chilled platter with the spicy mayo and soy sauce for use. I'll have chopsticks available for people to use.
Status: My friend wants to make this. If she decides not to make it, we won't have it--it's up to her. We will need to buy all the ingredients before the party and make it shortly before.

Serving strategy: I'll just have some plates and forks and a knife for each tier.
Status: OKAY. The three cake tiers are MADE and frozen in my freezer. Two 10-inch layers of chocolate. Three 8-inch layers of lemon. Three 6-inch layers of vanilla.
They will need to be defrosted and leveled with my leveler. Then, I will need to make 2 batches of frosting. Each tier will get frosted between layers and given a crumb coat, and then they will get their pink frosting on the sides, and then there will be some scoopy curtains on the side and some shells piped along the sides.
Then I will need to trim up the dowels, stack the cakes, and put the brides and grooms on the cake. (I have already made the spouses.) It will go on the silver cake drum I bought. And I will enjoy showing off my beautiful cake. Hopefully they won't be attacked by bugs or something.
And speaking of being attacked...
I'm in the path of Hurricane Dorian and it is coming to pee on my state at the exact day of the movie release. Thanks for being such a wet stormy state, Florida.
So yeah. My party MIGHT NOT HAPPEN AT ALL because of severe weather and I MIGHT NOT EVEN HAVE POWER and urgghh people might not come to my house for a party.
This is not the first "ugh getting hit by a hurricane" post I've made on Amino, either. I got hit by Irma in 2017.
This one isn't as bad for me as Irma and I think my side of the state (Gulf side) won't get any hurricane rain until Tuesday. But the forecasts are stil pretty uncertain since the hurricane is still far away.
I've already had one person who was gonna attend my party change her mind because we're getting clobbered. I'm so sad this is happening. I planned for so long and spent a lot of time and money.
I hope I get to have a party and see the movie. :pensive: :pensive: :pensive: :pensive: :pensive:

That’s bad timing... I hope you stay safe... Also, I’m going to only be using your SU food recipes for my movie viewing party! THEY ALL LOOK SO GOOD AND SOUND SO GOOD HOW DO YOU DO MANAGE TO MAKE SUCH AMAZING FOOD??? And the whole “power outage at the exact wrong moment” thing? I’ve been there... Again, stay safe!
So cool you're getting use out of my stuff! I can't wait to show everyone whatthe food looks like!
The hurricane has gotten worse but in my area it will not be happening in time to crash the party....
omg I'm late but you are the absolute QUEEN of SU food this is amazing :sob: :sob: i hope this goes well for you!!
You may comment anytime, nothing late about it! Thank you for your words--I LOVE that people are interested in my recipes! Wait until you actually SEE THE SPREAD! It may be a bit before I can organize my photos enough to get the recipe and instructions for the 3-tier wedding cake up (not to mention the difficulty of illustrating it properly despite a 25-picture limit!), but I will finally be able to add the Gem Harvest Cake to my recipes soon!
Goodness, the amount of time and effort you’re putting into this—stay safe during the hurricane, hopefully it doesn’t rain on your parade! (haha) It would break my heart to see all of this go to waste.
Still holding out hope it will go according to plan. The storm seems to be moving very slowly--we still expect to be hit, but maybe not while we're partying.
Aww, I hope the storm won't ruin your party. Luckily the part of the U.S. that I live in doesn't get too many hurricanes, and the ones I do get are very weak. But I hope things will be okay and you can still have your party! Stay safe!
Yes, that is lucky for you! We definitely get our share of hurricanes. But our area rarely gets the bad ones. I am fortunate not to live in a flood zone. I think things are shaping up to be okay for the party. I'm nervous about the strength of the storm when it hits the other coast. Hope those people are prepared. I was so relieved for Puerto Rico this time since they barely got grazed.
I'm Caribbean and Irma hit me really bad in 2017 so I understand your situation. Stay safe for Dorian, I hope the wind won't be too bad cause your party seems awesome!
Ohhh, another person who knows. :persevere:
We lost power for days during Irma, my house lost a door, my mom's fence fell down, and my mom fell and broke her nose during the hurricane and we were so lucky to get her to the hospital. Terrible day.

Yeah, Irma was really bad. The island I lived in at the time was almost completly destroyed, it was a really traumatic experience, it still gives me nightmares. Dorian will not hit the island but I hope it will be nicer than Irma for you, good luck !

Yes, what happened to us in Florida was nothing compared to the effects further south. And thank you for your thoughts.
