Amethyst's Fusion Roll Call

Amethyst was the main Crystal Gems' young'un before Steven arrived, and she's a prankster, a hoarder, a free spirit, a talented shapeshifter, and a great "big sister"--though she does have her irresponsible moments and the occasional impulsive act that gets everyone in trouble.

Wee Amethyst is ed immediately by SMOKY QUARTZ, a roly-poly Fusion of sibling love, Earth Gem grit, and bad puns--they're Steven and Amethyst's Fusion, a riot and a ton of fun, not to mention incredible with a yo-yo, but sometimes the self-deprecating jokes get a little too real.

Smoky's colored in Violets, Blue-Violets, and Cool Grays for this drawing.

Behind them, we have OPAL, Pearl and Amethyst's Fusion and the original Giant Woman: Sleek and precise, but playful and able to act without a plan; she has a peaceful center and great aim with her bow, but she's a fragile Fusion who easily comes undone, and watch out for her forgetful nature.

Opal is colored in Blue-Violets for this drawing.

Next is SUGILITE, the massive three-Gem Fusion who storms into existence when Amethyst and Garnet forces: she's bombastic and wild, with a showy side and a whole lot of power when she slams with her flail, but beware of her dangerous temper.

And lastly, we have Alexandrite, the colossal four-Gem Fusion combining Garnet, Pearl, AND Amethyst--and she is this month's Gem of honor for #MOALArt. Alexandrite is a Fusion of necessity, able to pack a huge punch on the battlefield using the Crystal Gems' united love and power for a single goal; however, though she can breathe fire and use all the Gems' weapons in incredible combination attacks, Alexandrite struggles for cohesion and is relegated to a very temporary existence.

This took about 3.5 hours using Copic markers and a Posca white pen. It is all traditional art but I did digitally alter the purple of Sugilite's skin because I accidentally chose a marker that was too dark. Here is the sketch and the inking.
