Holodecking for the Holidays

This sucks, I know it does but it was fun to write out really quick. Just a quick get up of how Kirk is alone during the Holidays and uses a Holodeck for company.

☆----------------☆

It was time for the Holidays. The Enterprise was docked and getting repairs, most of the crew had set out and went to visit their families and friends. All besides Kirk. He sat in the Captain's chair of the bridge, staring at the blank hailing screen. One leg crossed over the other as he glanced around, studying the empty areas. It was quiet...too quiet. Thoughts crossed his mind of what his crew was up to, but there was a lingering loneliness burying deep within his chest, along  with the lonely racing thoughts. He felt alone. More than he had ever felt before. Of course he could go out and go to a bar or something but that's what was expected of him. Kirk didn't want that. Fingertips tapped the end of the chair as he thought some more.

Suddenly, he got an idea he ed. It was more-so a secret. A secret program he had installed for him for the Holodeck a while back. He had the program for years but never actually used it. Mostly because he thought things would change, that his crew would stay with him during the holidays on the Enterprise. That was just him being selfish and Jim didn't want to seem that way. Standing up, he fixed his Christmas sweater, that had stripes of green and red with the replica of a logo of the Enterprise on the front. Pulling the sleeves down over his wrists, he walked to the turbolift. Once the turbolift got to the floor he needed to be on, the doors freshed open and he stepped out. The corridor was quiet, seemed lost and alone just like he felt. It was almost an eerie feeling that sent small matters of goosebumps down his arms.

Walking down the corridor, Kirk stopped in front of the Holodeck room. He stared at it for a few moments before putting in the codes to his secret holiday program. Once the Holodeck was set up, a computer like voice came through, stating it was ready for use. With hesitancy, the Captain stepped into the Holodeck room. The doors closed on their own, he turned to look at the door then around. It was empty, with a bright neon lines set up in a gird. "Play Holiday Program." Kirk said aloud. Soon the whole room changed. It was set up at the bridge, Christmas decorations set up and neatly placed all around the bridge. Even the Captain's chair was decorated with green and red banners, with a sign on the back that said: 'Kiss the Captain'. Above the chair was a hanging mistletoe. To the side of the bridge was a table, one half held food and drinks while the other half held presents that were neatly wrapped setting on top. Jim smiled at the scene, especially when he noticed the  crew were all there. They weren't working. Everyone was just happy, smiling, talking and just enjoying themselves.

Slowly walking around, he picked up some food, took a bite, grabbed a drink. He went around and talked to the crew, greeting them like the usual. They all wore Christmas and Holiday sweaters. Even Spock wore one. It felt good to be with them to not be alone but it couldn't erase the sad feeling he held deep inside. They weren't real. Just part of the holiday program. "End program-" Jim ordered for it to be stopped and it did. Everything went back to normal, the black and neon grid lines filled the room once more.

Deciding to just forget it and  to go to a bar  instead. He would probably end up in a one night stand, only to be left alone again. The captain left the Holodeck room. They were his crew and even a simulation of them couldn't replace... them. Sulking back to the turbolift, Jim went to the bridge again. "Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas, Captain Kirk!" Loud voices yelled at him in surprise as he stepped out of the turbolift. The whole  crew were there. Actually there. They all came running up to him, gathered around him, hugged him, gave him presents and holiday desserts. He hugged them back, thanked them for the gifts. "Well, this sure does beat the Holodeck version of you all!" The Captain said with a laugh, the  crew looking around at each other in a confused silence but they laughed together once they noticed how happy Jim was.
