Just to put things into perspective, I don’t have a D+ so I couldn’t even watch the Acolyte if I wanted to. But before all the bad reception I did want to give the Acolyte a fair shot, after all I didn’t expect much from Andor, coming from someone who loves Rogue One btw, but that turned out to be possibly the best show on that platform. So after that slam dunk I’m thinking, “Ok, maybe the Acolyte won’t be ass”, but then its third episodes airs and everyone on the internet goes nuclear.
And it’s not just SWT who’s feeling this way, the Critical Drinker, Jeremy Jahns, Alteori, Overlord DVD, Tyrone Magnus, and I’m sure others are just pissed off at what Disney or LucasFilm or Kathleen Kennedy has done here. Some are saying they’d rather watch THE LAST JEDI over this, maybe even the Rise of Skywalker. I mean, WHAT?! Those two films have got to be some of the worst movies I’ve ever seen and people are saying TLJ at least isn’t even half as bad as the first three episodes of the Acolyte. How is that even remotely possible?
Granted, the Acolyte before its third episode wasn’t gaining much positive reception from the fan base (and the writers attacking those criticizing the show isn’t doing them any favors), but again, Andor was moving pretty slowly at first so I thought this would be a similar situation. But it doesn’t seem to be that way. Even if I do get another D+ this’ll be a show that I’ll never see, especially after today, but I can’t hide my curiosity. What makes this show so terrible, specifically?

My brother in Christ.
I'd rather watch the holiday special over this.
It's A- for me
I haven't seen the third episode yet (seen the first two, they're pretty embarrassing, of course). I am so excited to see what all the fuss is about. Genuinely, I love garbage. I know nothing about episode three nobody tell me I wanna keep it a surprise.
So far I've been finding the Acolyte pretty bad. Pretty poor plotting with tons of holes and stupid shit happening per episode (Trinity not just force freezing Acolyte girl during the fight, fire in space, the f*cking prison break, main character girl not being bothered by the cold on an ice planet, her missing the shot at her sister in ep 2, how is that fat guy a Jedi, ect, ect). Most of the show's issues come from "nitpicks" like these. And even if you do view them as nitpicks, a nitpick is still a valid criticism. It's like a little cut, and loads of little cuts add up. The more stupid shit there is, the more cuts are made, and enough cuts could kill.
The characters are all kinda boring since all the ones you're meant to care about just exposit vague details from their past to each other as a replacement for character. I don't think Lucasfilm understands that you have to characterize a character, give them likeable traits, first in order to make me like them, then that will make me give a shit about their lame backstories. So far I nobody's names, that's a good sign.
So yeah if we're going by Disney Star Wars standards, it's actually alright. 6 or 7/10? It's BAD, but it's not quite HORRENDOUS in it's first two episodes I don't think. I hope episode three doesn't disappoint, it better be gloriously shit. I love garbage.
Not sure I’d consider 7/10 a bad score, but I appreciate your input.

No I'm saying it's a 7/10 by Disney Star Wars standards, those standards are very poor
By normal standards it's like a 4?

Touché.
I haven't seen episode 3 yet, but so far, it ain't that bad. Not great, but I'm okay with that.
I mostly watched it after seeing Alteori's review because I thought she was being unfair and overly nitpicky.
The marketing for this show was definitely not great, but the show isn't that bad so far.
Is it worse than TLJ? No. Is it as good as Andor? No. It's just alright, so far.
I think the production is off like Disney doing weekly small movies aren't a good system
But I think it's actually a pretty good show the better then most of Star wars.
I also think most of Star wars is a 7/10
At least you're consistent.
