Chapter 26: Capture the Flag!

On the field, everyone was in their areas, warming up with their Pokèmon, as they were ready to begin the game.

"I am excited to play this game!" Jeremy exclaimed, as he stretched and Boomer was pumped to play as well as he stomped his feet.

"Nido!" Boomer agreed.

"Still we need a plan tho..." Roselyn said as she looked over at the other teams and saw some of the teams were already forming strategies. "Capturing all those flags and keeping them and ours will NOT be easy..."

"Yeah, which is why I have an idea!" Jeremy announced, before others gathered around.

"What's the plan, Jere?" Charcoal asked him.

"We get the most skilled runners and their Pokèmon to scatter and grab the opposing teams flags, while the rest of us distract them and the others stay behind to guard the flags." Jeremy suggested to them.

"But, what if the enemy team has the same idea?" Roselyn asked him.

"Then we switch it up and have the flying Pokèmon swoop in from above and snatch the flags." Jeremy suggested.

"Won't we be disqualified if we do that?" Charcosl asked.

"The rules didn't say Flying Types can't do that." Jeremy said, with a small smile.

"That is true, they didn't say we can't do that." Roselyn agreed, so everyone be ready."

"Yeah, , we are doing this for the s'mores." Jeremy said, eager for some s'mores.

"Let's get ready, the game is about to begin!" Roselyn said, as they heard Shade's voice on a megaphone.

"Alright campers, today our challenge is Capture the Flag!" Shade announced. "Game time is fifteen minutes and play fair...is everyone ready?"

"Yeah!" Everyone announced, ready to play.

"Alright...on your marks...get set..." Shade said, before he loudly blue a whistle and almost at once, all the campers and their Pokémon scattered, while some stayed back at base to guard their flags. Almost immediately, some campers were eliminate by tags, while some either avoided capture and used their Pokémon to avoid being tagged out.

"Go, go, go!" Jeremy said, as he and Boomer ran ahead and avoided being tackled or tsgged out.

Charcoal was heading towards the Coordinator/Performer Zone, but was soon jumped by some girls and their Pokémon.

"Not so fast!" One of them commented.

"Yeah, don't do anything insane..." the other commented, as she smirked.

Charcosl just smirked as he said: "Accelerock."

Shadow smirked and before they could react, Shadow darted off in a flash and headed towards the flag, while Charcoal rushed ed them, following his partner's slipstream.

"Hey!" The girls exclaimed, as they gave chase.

"That was too easy..." Charcoal said, until he heard someone call out...

"Not do fast, Charcoal!"

Then Shadow and Coal were almost hit with a Moonblast attack. Charcoal and Shadow looked and saw it was Katelyn, Ami and their Sylveon guarding the flag.

"Didn't think you would be protecting the flag." Charcoal said.

'Ami, Sparkle, you guard. I'll tag them." Katelyn told her. Ami and Sparkle nodded, as they stood guard while Katelyn and Yume tried to tag them. Charcoal and Shadow immedialy bolted and had no other choice but to retreat and made it to their zone, but it was hard, considering Sugar was hot on their tails and using her ribbons to her advantage.

"Shadow, Acceleroc!" Charcoal said and soon, Shadow bolted away and made it to their zone, while Charcoal jumped for it and barely missed being grabbed by Sugar and tumbled into the grass, while Katelyn and Sugar panted and Katelyn puffed her cheeks in anger.

"Darn it!" Katelyn huffed in frustration, before she was suddenly pushed as well as Sugar.

"Hey!" Kateelyn exclaimed, before she looked and saw it was Violetta and her Snivy.

"...You're out..." Violetta said, in a netural tone.

"Hey, don't push her!" Charcoal snapped, as he helped Katelyn up while Shadow protected and growled at Violetta and Snivy.

"Whatever, at least we are winning..." the violet Inkling girl scoffed again, until she heard a whistle.

"Violetta, you are disqualified." Shade told her in a stern tone. "For pushing Katelyn on purpose..."

Violetta just rolled her eyes, while her Snivy got on her shoulders. "Whatever...come on, Hydra...we wasted enough of our energy on this stupid game..."

"Snivy..." her partner agreed, before they walked off the field. Katelyn just glared st her and suddenly, Nova suddenly came out of her Pokéball and growled ferociously at the two.

"Nova?!" Kztelyn exclaimed, shocked at her Pokémon's sudden behavoir. It wasn't until Violetta turned around and met the angry Fire Type's gaze...

"Well, well...I see the pathetic Fennekin found an even more pathetic Trainer..." violette commented, with a smug smirk.

Then it all just clicked for Katelyn as she picked up the growling Nova and said:

"You're the last Trainer who abandoned her!"

Violetta scarcastically clapped. "Finally, the silly princess did some thinking..."

Katelyn gritted her teeth in anger and disgust, how uld Violetta be so nonchalant and calm about this?!

"You're horrible! You're even more cruel than any other Nuzlocke Trainer!" Katelyn exclaimed.

"Listen well, Rainer...the world has no place for weak, pathetic sea creatures or Pokémon...regardless if they're shiny or not...if they can't prove they're reliable...they aren't worth it to carry around..."

Katelyn was about to strom up to her, when Charcoal and Shade both stopped her, firmly gripping on her shoulders. Katelyn could only watch as Violette walked away, all confidently as if she won a battle...

"...Why did you stop me...?" Katelyn asked, as the two freed her from their grips.

"Katelyn...i know you are angry at what Violetta said, but you can't let her words get you under your skin..." Charcoal told her.

"But...I can't let her get away with-!" The purple Inkling objected, but Charcoal cut her off.

"And you will, but right now...convert all that negative energy into that drive for the game." He suggested. Katelyn took a deep exasperated sigh, before nodding and looked at Shade.

"Shade, is it Ok if I play onwards with Nova?" Katelyn asked. "She needs a cooldown too..."

Shade nodded and soon, Katelyn pulled put out a Pokéball and pointed it at Sugar.

"Sugar, return." She said, as her Sylveon went in her Pokéball. Nova jumped out and looked at Katelyn worriedly.

"Come on, Nova. We have a game to play...!" Katelyn said, before she ran off. Nova nodded, as they headed off, ready to play some capture the flag.

Meanwhile...

Roselyn has successfully captured the blue flag belonging to the Grooming and Breeding class, with Icicle by her side and the enemy team right behind her.

"Go go go!" Roselyn called out, before she ed the flag to Icicle and she rushed towards tbe zone, until she saw Neo and his Scolipede after them.

Roselyn gritted her teeth, as she and Icicle dodged Scolipede, fearing the Posion Point Hidden Abiliy from it.

"We're on the same team, you jerk!" Roselyn snapped, as she and Icicle kept on running.

"Yeah, but still...I'd be damned if I let you place it." Neo scoffed, as he looked at Scolipede and he nodded at Scolipede. It nodded back, before it began to charge up to her. Icicle looked back and saw that they were in danger, so out of reflex, she xhot an Ice Beam to freeze Scolipede's feet to the floor.

Scolipede hissed in anger as it tried to break out.

"Haha, nice shot Icicle!" Roselyn laughed, as the two kept on running.and made it into the zone and placed the flag in the corner.

"Haha, nice work Rose!" Charcoal laughed and high fived her.

"Thanks Coal, but we need to watch ourselves...Neo and his team fight REAL DIRTY..." Roselyn said, before she saw Solipede break out of the ice.

"I noticed..." Charcoal agreed, with a nod.

"The game is almost over in five minutes!" Shade announced over his megaphone.

"We gotta hurry, we are running out of time!" Roselyn announced, before she dashed off "We need to get the other flags and keep them!"

"Right, let's hurry!" Charcoal said, as they rushed onwards to get the other flags.

-5 minutes later-

"We have a winner of Capture the Flag!" Shade announced. "The Battle Tactics Team!"

Everyone in that group cheered, except for Neo and his group.

"So, be ready for s'mores tonight!" Mintura told them. "For now, everyone is dismissed."

Soon, everyone else went their seperate ways or stayed behind to talk to each other. Roselyn briskly walked off, so as she doesn't even have to look at her ex boyfriend and ex best friend. Then she saw Zach nearby and Junior was beside him.

"Zach." Roselyn greeted him.

He looked up and saw Roselyn and Icicle approach. Junior looked as well but once he saw Icicle, he had behind Zach, afraid. Icicle noticed and didn't get any closer, but had her ears down in sadness.

"You and Junior did well out there." She told him, trying to cheer him up.

"Thanks, but still...we both have a very long way to go..." the blue Inkling boy explained, while Junior just hid behind him trembling.

"I am sure you two will work it out." She reassured him. "But , I am here for you when need it."

Zach gave her a nod, before he headed off with Junior trailing behind him, but Rose saw that there was a huge gap between them. Icicle wanted to go forward to talk to Junior, but she hesitated and stopped, as she saw her friend leave. Roselyn just petted her reassuringly, before she picked her up and headed onwards back to her cabin.

However, little did they knew that they were being watched...by two different figures in the shadows...
