This is Nomad! Welcome to the seventh Chapter of Splat Force III: Bolton's Reign!
I don't have much to say for the intro this time around but, let's just say things are gonna get really dark in this Chapter, especially near the end. However, there will be enough brief fun scenes, but it's only brief and will end in the blink of an eye.
So without further ado, let's get into this!

C H A P T E R 7 : T H E W O R L D ' S P L A N S
Magnus sat on the edge of his bed, looking down at his phone. His room was messy. For starters, the covers of his bed in the top right corner were all over the place and wrinkly. There was a beanbag on the top left corner with clothes all over it. Several drawers were left open with clothes hanging out. On the right wall leaned a TV stand with video game disks out of their cases. Next to the bed was a desk that was covered with old College work that he never got rid of, even after graduating from his course.
Magnus scrolled at the private group chat that he, Emily, Ami and Samantha all shared.
'Hey, check this out!'
Emily typed, sending a link into the chat. Magnus pressed on the link and was taken to an article about sightings of a Speedster by Inkopolis Cathedral.
'We should check it out!'
Raising an eyebrow, Magnus began to respond.
'Isn't that the same Speedster that was at Splatsvile according to all the news websites?'
'Yeah!'
Emily responded. Even when she wasn't around him, Magnus could always tell when she was eager to do something through text.
'I'm not sure that's a good idea.'
Ami commented, ing the conversation.
'I agree with Ami, Cosmo specifically told us not to go after the gifted, especially ones connected to Bolton.'
Magnus backed up.
'Aw! You guys are boring!'
Emily responded, sending a frowning emoji.
'Emily, I'm not allowing you to do something as reckless as this. I'm the one the was tasked with looking after you three if Rex and Alyssa aren't there so if anything happens, it'll be on me.'
Samantha added, taking her role as Splat Force Major very seriously.
Magnus waited nearly a minute for the next message to pop up, feeling uneasy and concerned for Emily's sense of danger.
'Ugh! You guys are so lame!'
Emily said before typing another message.
'This could be our chance to prove ourselves as more than just students! We can finally prove that we are more capable of fighting than what Commander Allen has thought of us!'
Magnus openly sighed and shut his eyes.
"What's wrong with you?"
He said out loud before typing another message.
'Look, if you really want to do it then go ahead. But please, take it seriously and be patient, one slip up could destroy you!'
'I'll come with you then. You can't take them on by yourself.'
Ami messaged.
'Ami, you too?!'
Samantha responded.
'I'll go more in-depth when I come home with takeaway but if Emily wants to go out there and fight, she'll get destroyed on her own.'
Ami explained.
'Gee, thanks!'
Emily moodily replied.
"Screw it..."
Magnus whispered as he began to type his message.
'You know what, I'll come too. I think it's time that I put all the skills that I've learnt to the test.'
The chat went dead for several minutes. Three of the four sides of the party were awaiting Samantha's answer. Emily's patients began to decline.
'Samantha? Are you there, girl?'
After a minute, the response finally came through.
'Fine, I'll come along but only to make sure you three are safe. However, anything bad that happens is on you, Emily.'
'YES! WE ARE GONNA KICK SOME ASS TOMORROW!'
Emily cheered, happy that she was getting her way of things for the change, to the other three's dismay.

Bruce landed on the road outside of the Levin Household after a long leap in the air.
"Good night, Bruce!"
Melissa said as the Hammerhead Shark began to walk to the garden gate.
"Night night!"
Bruce murmured before yawning.
Led and Melissa walked through the front door of the house. The two of them started to feel unnerved as if someone was in the home with them. They decided to ignore it for now.
"Led, I'll let Michael and Johanna know we're home."
"Okay, you go do that then."
Led responded as he opened his bedroom door.
Led undressed, taking off his jacket, shirt and jeans, now only in his boxers. He placed both his hat and his bandana up on the door pegs before climbing onto the bed and laying down under the sheets. After a minute, Melissa entered, looking worried.
"They aren't here, Led!"
"What? That's weird!"
He whispered to himself as Melissa undressed, he looked away from her, giving her privacy.
"Maybe they've gone out on a walk or something, I'm sure they'll be back in the morning."
Melissa climbed onto the bed and laid next to him, now wearing a black bra and boxers. She felt unsure about Led's suggestion, however she didn't want to ruin any hope he had. She felt as if something bigger was happening, or at least going to happen...
"Y-Yeah, I'm sure of it."
She whispered before turning her body around under the sheets, facing Led.
"Good night, Led."
"Good night, Mel."
Led whispered before turning off the lamp. The two of them quickly fell asleep.
T H E N E X T M O R N I N G . . .
The sun shined through the window and into Led's room. Melissa was already out of bed, the bedroom door was wide open. Led started to wake up from the sound of footsteps in the hallway. Led leaned up as Melissa walked back into the bedroom.
"They still aren't home..."
"What? How could this be?"
Led exclaimed, confused over their disappearance.
"I don't know, maybe they went out clubbing for the night and got hungover."
Melissa suggested, trying to think of possibilities.
"No, they hate clubbing."
Led responded, shooting her idea down.
"Could you find out using your mind?"
"Led, I can read people's thoughts and feel their senses, I can't look back into the past..."
She said with a frown.
"What are we gonna do?"
"The best we can do is look around for them. Who knows, maybe they got lost on the way back."
He suggested.
"Sounds like a plan to me! I'll wake Bruce up!"
Melissa responded before walking out of the room. Led stared out of the window. He had a strange feeling deep within him that something bad was going to happen, he just didn't know what it was...
M E A N W H I L E W I T H T H E S P L A T F O R C E . . .
All four of the students arrived at the roof of the building opposite the Spicy Noodle, all in their Splat Force gear. They each held a weapon, Ami holding Dulies, Samantha holding a Squelcher, Magnus a Splattershot and Emily a Splatterscope.
"Anyone else excited about this?"
Emily asked, to which both Magnus and Samantha shook their head.
"Yeah, this should be fun!"
Ami answered with a nervous voice in her best efforts to keep Emily's spirits up.
"Guys! Doesn' this guy look familiar?"
Magnus alerted, looking down below at Damian who stood outside of the Spicy Noodle, eating a large box of noodles.
"Hold on."
Samantha responded as she took out her phone. She began to scroll through all the ed photos of the riots that she had in her gallery. She eventually found a freeze-frame of Damian running whilst carrying Rex. She showed the rest of the team the photo.
"That's the guy!"
"Squit..."
Magnus whispered to himself as the reality of the situation began to hammer down on him.
"Guys, I really think we should retreat now."
"Oh get out the way!"
Emily exclaimed as she pushed him out of her view, aiming her Splatterscope at the gifted Octoling below. She was unsteady however, she didn't hold the weapon properly nor was she standing in the correct posture.
"EMILY NO!"
The other three students yelled in unison. It was too late...
B A N G ! ! !
The bullet was shot. Down below, Damian heard the bullet fire and within seconds, everything around him froze. He looked to his right and saw the bullet strike the ground next to him, not even close to him. He looked up and saw the Splat Force.
"Really?"
He whispered to himself, shaking his head and sighing before running off.
In real-time, Damian was suddenly gone and civilians ran inside of the closest buildings after the shot, all scared.
"You imbecile! What have you done?!"
Samantha exclaimed with a horrified voice.
"He's gone!"
Ami said with panic.
Magnus held Emily down just before opening firing. He was now on top of her.
"Get off!"
She exclaimed, forcing the Octoling off her. She looked down and to her dismay, Damian was not in sight. She looked at the other three, all of which had their eyes on her, one with frustration, one in fear and the other with mild worry.
"Well come on then!"
As soon as she said that, Emily climbed off the roof, the others following behind, trying to catch up to her.
"Emily, what are you doing?!"
Samantha yelled out as the four of them enter the city street. Magnus vividly made out people watching from their windows.
"Well he has to be around here somewhere!"
Emily replied, facing them as they responded.
Suddenly, all four of them felt a swift whoosh by them.
"Right over here, sweetheart!"
Damian called out.
Emily slowly turned around and looked at the smug Octoling angrily.
"What did you just call me?"
"That doesn't matter. Listen, young lady, if you don't want to get your jatty kicked then I suggest that you listen to me."
He responded, smugly insulting Emily, who was twitching with anger, before making his point clear.
"I don't want any more trouble. I mean, I doubt I'm gonna get in anymore considering your last attempt ended poorly, and I watched that in slow motion, the shot was made before that Octoling of yours collided with you-"
Emily ran forward towards him with rage.
"BEFORE I GET MY WHAT KICKED?!"
She screamed, letting out the anger felt towards Damian's words.
"I'M GONNA KILL YOU, YOU FU-"
Suddenly, everything froze once more, all except Damian. Emily was a mare second away from reaching him. Behind her, Magnus had tried to hold her back. Ami had reached forward to grab on to her but missed and Samantha watched from afar, frowning with frustration with her right hand covering her mouth.
Damian smirked as he looked at Emily's angered face.
"Cute."
He whispered before taking four small steps forward, right into Emily's face.
Damian pressed two fingers on her mouth and formed a smile. The smirk turned into a light chuckle. Damian grabbed ahold of her by the neck and ran her out of the area. He ran around Inkopolis at full speed before dropping her on an empty road and running back.
He then took notice of Magnus, he seemed alright with him, he didn't do anything to piss him off so he decided to skip out on the face messing and instantly moved on to the running. He ran Magnus to the outskirts of Inkopolis, outside of Infantry Forest.
Upon arriving back, he was left with the sisters. He started with Ami, as she was the closest. He took a moment to give her a small kiss on her left cheek, feeling mildly attracted to her. He grabbed her by the neck, as he did with Emily and Magnus beforehand and ran off, this time to Jelly Moon Park. Coincidentally, this was a pack that Ami was fond of.
Last but not least was Samantha. Damian was puzzled about what to do with her. He didn't want to just send her to another place like the others but at the same time, he didn't want to leave her out. Eventually, he found the solution. He grabbed onto her neck and began to run around the cathedral at max speed over and over again until he got bored.
He placed Samantha back in her original position before leaving her behind, running away from the area completely. In real-time, Samantha felt dizzy and light-headed. She began to panic, not seeing any of the others with her.
Meanwhile, Emily groaned as she slowly stood up, also feeling dizzy and light-headed. She instantly came back to her senses as an eight-wheeled truck began to drive down the road. She jumped out of the way and avoided death. Both Magnus and Ami rose in their respective areas, both of which were empty. The latter had a nostalgic feeling towards her area.
The dizziness began to take its toll on them as, after nearly half a minute of coming back to their senses, all four of them threw up in unison non-stop for ten seconds. The mission had failed and all that was left for them was a major scolding.
M E A N W H I L E W I T H D A M I A N . . .
At last, Damian had finished his run at the start of the pathway to the Once Great Symbol. Upon stopping, he dropped down on one knee at an instant. He groaned in agony as he held against his chest. It was the same reaction he had back at Splatsvile, except the pain was more unbearable. Running from place to place at that speed took a toll on the Speedster's health.
After nearly a minute, the pain finally died out. Damian steadily got back onto his feet, his body was shaking rapidly, and he was breathing in and out none stop.
"I need to stop doing that!"
He panted to himself.
Suddenly, Damian felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He took it out and opened it, seeing a message from Bolton that read.
'Meet me at the Once Great Symbol.'
"Huh...Right!"
Damian said to himself with a chuckle, already one the way towards it.
"See you in a few seconds then, Bolton!"
Seconds later, Damian was back onto his feet fully, no more stumbling around. He ran forward and within seconds found himself at the Once Great Symbol. He stood in the middle of the courtyard and had a moment to cheer himself on for the run before walking into the building.
He entered the throne room and saw that nobody was inside. However, he took notice of two metal chairs that stood in the middle of the room, what could they be for? Damian got another message from Bolton.
'Go to the roof.'
Seconds after putting his phone away, Damian dashed out of the throne room and down the hallway to his left. After another a left turn, he ran down to a spiral staircase. Upon running up, he arrived in a rusted, square room.
There was a large gap on the floor which led down into the throne room below. The hole spread out onto the balcony outside. Damian took many small, gentle steps forward, trying not to trigger a collapse. He looked out into the balcony and saw Bolton, who held his hands together behind his back as he stared off into the distance.
"Dude, are you serious?"
Damian called out to him, unsure of how to get around the holes. Bolton slowly turned his head sideways upon hearing his voice. Seconds later, a flame ring was opened to get Damian over.
"Thanks, man!"
"Don't mention it."
He muttered as a returned his blade to its scabbard.
"I see that you took my directions for granted."
"I already knew the whereabouts of this place from my morning jogs I used to do all over the city."
Damian responded snarkily. To two paused for a couple of seconds before the Speedster decided to break the silence.
"So, you didn't summon me here for sightseeing, right?"
"That is correct."
Bolton responded, now facing the young Octoling.
"Once the great salvation commences, the Once Great Symbol will be reborn into its former glory. To do so, the place has to be rebuilt in time. I'm sure it would be no problem for you, right?"
"Uh...Yeah, no problem!"
He answered, hiding how intimidated he felt towards the task.
"Is that it?"
"It needs to be done by the evening as we will have a meeting here. Led and Melissa have not seen my message just yet."
Bolton answered.
"Well I'm glad you're actually using that phone, I went through a lot of trouble just to get it! Also, have you tried calling that big Shark dude?"
Damian asked, only to get a chilling stare from Bolton as a response.
"Right, Sharks don't use phones, noted!"
"Before you begin fixing the Once Great Symbol, I need you to find them and spread the-"
Bolton requested, only to get cut off by Damian suddenly running away, through the open flame ring. Nearly, twenty seconds later, he was back.
"They were at that noodle place that they like so much. I told them about it."
Damian informed, clapping his hands together in satisfaction.
"Also, can I ask something? What's with those two chairs down there?"
"You'll find out later..."
Bolton said before looking back into the distance.
L A T E R T H A T E V E N I N G . . .
Bruce landed outside of the old, ruined castle. Both Led and Melissa climbed off, the latter felt confused as she had never been to the Once Great Symbol before.
"So, what's Bolton's deal with this place?"
"This was where I was trained, outside of that I don't know why he's setting up base here. I thought we were setting base in that sewer place."
Led replied as the three of them began to walk to the castle. The three of them were interrupted by the sound of thunder in the distance.
"We should get in quicker, a storm is coming."
After nearly twenty seconds of walking, the trio made their way through the courtyard and into the castle building, just barely being hit by the rain as they made their way inside.
Led was surprised to see that the place had already been cleaned up since the day before, despite all the damage that was done only two years prior.
"Odd..."
He whispered to himself, looking all around him. It was just how it was all that time ago as if the battle they had with the Splat Force had never happened.
Bruce opened up the door to the throne room, making sure to be as soft and as gentle as possible, due to his brute strength possibly taking it down. Both Led and Melissa followed behind him.
The room was dark, only being lit up by firey torches and a lamp on a metal desk in the middle of the room. Next to the desk, the two seats still rested, except this time, two masked hostages were in the seats.
Bolton sat on the throne with his eyes closed. His clenched left hand was pressed against his left cheek. Damian sat on the right wall, playing catch with himself, throwing a ball before running over to catch it, and repeating. Damian ended the game once he saw the three of them walk in.
The Speedster ran up to his master and nudged him. Without any feeling of tiredness, Bolton opened his eyes in an instant and saw all of the syndicate in the room.
"I've been waiting for you to show up."
He muttered before getting onto his feet. It wasn't long until Bolton had walked over to them. He stood by the two chairs and stared down at them.
"The great salvation has been my life goal, you all are very much aware of that. I've never been this close to achieving that goal until now, after Splatsvile. However, for it to work, it requires full commitment and dedication, which I'm afraid you've been lacking recently, Led!"
Melissa and Bruce looked at Led as they both took a step back, Damian looked at what was going on confusingly as he ed the two of them and watched. Led was focused on the two seats in front of him. Something felt peculiar about them.
The room was now in silence. Melissa, Bruce and Damian were all anticipating Led's response, Led was anticipating Bolton's response. Bolton turned his head upwards and glared at Led, who gave him a straight, determined face.
"Well? Say something!"
Led began to lightly sweat as his leg began to twitch slowly, but he managed to stand his ground.
"I-I don't know what you want me to say! I-I've stuck around you since the start since we took out Frederick Evans. I-I-"
"You mean since I took out Frederick Evans?"
Bolton asked, interrupting him mid-sentence.
"You only fought him once, and did a bad job of it! However, I tolerated it, you had only begun your path with me. I thought that you would improve over time. Fortunately, I was right, until a few months ago."
Bolton walked forward and stood in front of Led, who was trying to keep a calm posture.
"After my beloved Helena returned and Commander Allen and Alyssa Frida showed up, I ordered you to take care of them, is that correct?"
Bolton asked, waiting in silence before Led nodded.
"Instead, you froze and let them attempt to speak you out of the salvation. In addition, Commander Allen had some interesting things to share with us, specifically about you letting them into the Dainty Fort and stopping Bruce from taking them down. Would you like to explain that?"
"T-Those were all lies to try and throw me off. T-To throw you off!"
Led muttered in response, stumbling in his own words.
"I'm counting on it. Or at least I would if you didn't run away from the Pulpo City battle like a coward!"
Bolton exclaimed. Led's eyes widened as he lost his calm posture.
"What? Did you really think I never noticed you three running away? Pathetic! I lost my wife and son that day and you three run off like cowards!"
Led turned away and glanced at Melissa, whose body was shivering with fear.
"LOOK AT ME!"
Bolton roared, causing Melissa, and even Bruce to jump back in shock. Damian watched Bolton's behaviour and felt concerned. From his experience, Bolton was never like this towards him. He wondered what had happened between them. Led slowly turned his head back towards Bolton, whose fists were clenched and ignited. Bolton slowly breathed in and out, putting on a calm mood for Led.
"When you and I reunited yesterday, you seemed hostile, unnerved by my presence, even when we came here. I didn't understand at first but then I followed you back home and wouldn't you know it, I found out why that was!"
Bolton quickly moved back to the two seats and unmasked both of the hostages. Led gasped.
"Mom! Dad!"
He yelled. Both Michael and Johanna looked beaten up, cut and burnt. Johanna's glasses had been broken. Led looked back to Bolton who circled them slowly.
"W-Why are they here?!"
"When I found out that they were back in your life, I was shocked, but a part of me saw it coming."
Bolton responded, not answering his question.
"Led, throughout these past few years, you have been one of my greatest assets. I don't know where I would be if I never found you in Baxter Village that fateful day. On that day, you swore to me that you would stick by my side, yet here you are now, being manipulated by the very people that sent you to that Village, to begin with!"
"They sent me there to protect me!"
Led snapped back in fear.
"They did it because they loved me!"
"THEY THREW YOU OUT BECAUSE YOU WERE GIFTED, LED!"
Bolton bellowed, silencing him.
"No parent would ever do that to their child, no matter if it's for love or not!"
The whole room went silent. At the back of the room, Bruce looked down at the Levin Parents with confusion in his eyes, he didn't understand what was going on. Melissa on the other hand knew where it was all heading. Both of her hands were covering her mouth. Damian felt intimidated, the last thing he expected Bolton to do to any one of his ers was this.
"They manipulated you into thinking it was for love. They manipulated you out of the great salvation. They must be punished!"
Bolton told him.
Led frowned frightfully at him, clenching his fists.
"N-No! Don't kill them!"
"Don't worry, I'm not going to kill them."
Bolton assured Led with a gentle voice, calming his troubled thoughts.
"You're gonna be the one who does it!"
Both parents screamed out a muffled scream from their mouth covering and cried heavily as Led stood still in shock.
"N-No, I can't..."
"I don't want to say it again!"
Bolton responded.
Led looked towards his parents, and then back at Bolton, and then his parents again, and back at Bolton once more.
"W-What if I don't do it? What if I don't kill them?"
"Then they'll be spared."
He answered as he faced away from everyone. He paused for a few seconds, hoping to put relaxed thoughts into his head until breaking the news. He broke his silence as he turned around.
"However, you'll be of no use to me, nor the great salvation."
"W-What do you mean?"
Led frighteningly asked.
"You'll not be worth enough to stand by my side anymore. If you chose to stand with them, those who throw us all away like broken toys, you'll betray everything that I stand for, everything that you swore to stand for."
Bolton answered, taking two claustrophobic steps closer to the troubled. He placed his right hand onto his scabbard.
"As I result, I will give you the most painful, most agonising death that anyone being on this planet would've ever endured. Both of your parents will be forced to sit there and watch as I tare you apart, piece by piece, limb by limb!"
Both parents screamed in fear. It was either him or them, no one else. At the back, Melissa was on the verge of tears hearing what came out of Bolton's mouth, she began to silent breathe heavily. For once, Bruce wasn't oblivious to the situation at hand and knew exactly what was happening. Damian was taken aback by it. Bolton was his hero, he could he do such a thing?
Bolton removed the mouth coverings off both of them, allowing Led to have one final conversation with them before a decision is made.
"M-Mom, D-Dad, I-I-"
"Led, you have to listen to us!"
Michael told him, silencing his son.
"You have to kill us, Led! There is no other option for you, otherwise, your life will be cut short!"
"No! I-I can't!"
Led yelled, holding back tears.
"T-There has to be another way around this, there must be-"
"Led! Please listen!"
Johanna exclaimed.
"T-The world has got its plans. Sometimes, as sad as it is, you have no choice but to follow the plan. We both are truly sorry for putting you out on your own at a young age."
"It will be okay, Led..."
Michael whispered. Bolton watched them talk from afar, interested in what Led was going to do.
"We love you, son..."
All eyes were now on Led. The next move now rested on his shoulders. If he tried to break them out of the metal chains they were trapped within, he was dead. If he begged and begged, he was dead. If he kept hesitating any longer, he was dead. He shut his eyes tightly as the gravity of the situation got tighter and tighter. Bolton watched his hesitation from afar and slowly began to pull out his blade. The noise it made from being pushed against the scabbard reminded Led of what was to come if he didn't act soon. At last, Led opened his eyes.
Z A P ! ! !
He had done it, the unthinkable. After five seconds, he gave in. His whole body began to tremble. He looked down at the fried, crisp body of his parents. If anyone made any physical with them, their bodies would fall into a pile of ash. He didn't say anything.
At the back, both Damian and Bruce were startled and froze in shock over what had just happened. Tears fell down Melissa's face, her hands still covering her mouth. Bolton frowned at Led as he began to approach him.
"You have made the right decision."
He muttered, placing his right hand onto his left shoulder.
"I am sorry that things had to end badly for them. But at least I know that your commitment to the great salvation has been assured."
Bolton turned around and saw the rest of the syndicate, all in shock. He glared at all three of them before grabbing his blade out of its scabbard and summoning a flame ring to Giftopolis, leaving all of the syndicate behind.
As soon as Bolton was gone, Melissa steadily approached Led, who stood still, looking down at the fried bodies.
"L-Led?"
She called out, stumbling from the shock.
No tears were in Led's eyes anymore. He was detached, emotionless. He slowly turned around and walked out of the throne room, not acknowledging Melissa, nor the rest of the syndicate who were staring at him.
The Octoling walked out into the drenched courtyard. It was raining heavily. He felt the sharp water touch collide with his skin. As Melissa began to walk out into the courtyard, Damian ran up behind her and placed his left hand on her right shoulder. She turned around and he shook his head. All of the syndicate noticed sparkles of lightning sparkle out of Led's fingers. This went on for five seconds until all of a sudden...
Z A P ! ! !
Violent lightning began to explode out of Led's body, sparks striking the ground near him. It was unlike anything that they had seen from Led before. They were all at a loss for words.
Z A P ! ! !
B O O M ! ! !
A bolt of lightning from the sky struck Led, causing a miniature explosion. Bruce ran out from inside the castle and stood in front of Melissa and Damian, protecting them from the blast.
As the dust settled, Bruce stood out the way of Melissa and Damian. Led was nowhere to be seen. However, the area around where he stood was damaged by the lightning explosion.
"W-Where'd he go?"
Damian asked before running around the courtyard, trying to find him in the rubble but to no prevail.
Melissa closed her eyes and reached out to try and find his consciousness. Fortunately, she managed to find it.
"He's alive."
"How he survive that?"
Bruce asked, finding it hard to believe that he would survive something as violent as that.
"I don't know."
She answered. Melissa looked down at the burnt ground as a tear poured down her cheek.
"I don't even know where he is."
Damian ran back to Melissa after checking the rubble.
"Well, wherever he is, it's best if we leave him for a while."
He responded. He stood next to her and gently rubbed her back as she wiped a tear.
"I'm so sorry..."
All three of the syndicate stood out in the wet courtyard and tried to process it all. All three of them felt horrified. As for Led, this was only the beginning of his descent down a dark path...
