I've just been thinking abt my splatoon kiddos a lot lately, I have like a ton of text but I'm too lazy to refine the details and post it. So I'll summarize these two and their relationship

But, basically, when Hatsuo arrives to Inkopolis city, being Agent 8, Pearl and Marina introduce him to Cari, whose Agent 4. Naturally, he meets Cari's brother, they click, make a great friendship where Kai teaches Hatsuo all about life on the surface and then. Well, feelings are copped lmao

With Hatsuo's naivete regarding romance, he tries to smother how he feels. Considering romance amongst soldiers was taboo when he was a part of the menace. But eventually his feelings eat him up and he just. Sorta tells Kai.

At first hes honestly terrified, because the last time he pursued someone (ahem, looking at Yūrei) they didnt like dudes.

So he wasn't sure if he was different in some way, but eventually learns different people have different preferences.

And he couldnt be happier Kai happened to share his preference!!
