Hello, this is Kaidou Ren Izumi, co-leader of the small but revived Art Squad to remind you of this eventful post: Flowers and Pastels! (See the link for more details.)
If you like this painting, you can tip me/donate in my Ko-Fi.
Now, onto my submission for #ArtGuild: the Pastel Palette :art:

The name “Yukariiko” is a portmanteau (or combination) of Yukari and Akihiko. I had never intended to make an OC child with the two of them, but they* ended up having resemblances to both of them. Yukariiko has Yukari’s hair color, but also Akihiko’s eyes and technically his signature forehead bandage. Additionally, they like the color pink (which was what I was going for with the pastel palette) and often dress modestly. (Their shirt is similar to what Akihiko wears on a casual day, but their color preference is like Yukari’s.)
Originally, this was supposed to be a pastel version of concept art Akihiko doing the Pikachu meme face (hence the Easter Egg). Unfortunately, too many things went wrong with the postcard painting, emphasis on the painting. If only I hadn’t use charcoal during the hand tracing process, then I would’ve just used the usual markers and colored pencils. Basically, the charcoal got on the face and I couldn’t erase it. Worse, I kept using paints on areas that didn’t need it, like the top left areas.
As for the random hand, I’m in the midst of cleaning out old sketch papers from classes, and this is my way of preserving some of them: by applying them to new drawings. If there’s one good thing about this, it’s that I can use this idea* for next month aka Pride Month.
*During the process, I couldn’t identify what they were called (she/her, he/him). They’re too feminine to be male, but I’ve no intention to make them seem feminine at all. Eventually, I just decided to stick with the pronouns they/them because they look like Yukari despite attempting to look like Akihiko’s concept art.
