If I wasn't toon link one of the three characters that weren't involved in the subspace emissary, the other two being wolf and Jigglypuff?

Yeah but it's where you had to unlock them in the Subspace Emissary. If you played it then you'll know that they are secretly hidden in different levels across the adventure mode. Levels that you already played before, there is just a secret door in a specific level that takes you to the hidden characters fight and there you unlock them if you defeat them.

I see. I don't know the requirements needed to unlock the characters in brawl lol, I just kept playing until I got them all
