10 Music Tracks I Want For Smash!

Azure here with my Top 10 Music tracks that I want in Smash Ultimate. I've considered doing one of these in the past, bur haven't due to a lack of ideas, since finding 10 that aren't mostly from one series is pretty tough. But after being inspired by Chrono's post, I decided it was about time I do one myself. I'm only going to be doing franchises already represented in Smash, or else most of my list would just be Gunvolt music. It really is that good. I'll also give honourable mentions for each track on the list to give a little more substance to this blog, and since I didn't want some franchises taking up too much space. Let's go ahead start this list off with my Number 10 pick then.

《10- Fly Me To The Moon (Bayonetta)》

I it, I've never played a Bayonetta game before. I've been interested in picking it up on Switch but I've just never got around to it. But this song is too much of a banger to leave out of the list. It's such a great tune, but I get why it isn't in. The lyrics probably won't be allowed in a "kid's game", though they aren't over the top. I don't know too much about the Bayonetta series, but I do have 1 honourable mention I'd like to bring up: Moon River from Bayonetta 2. It's also a great pick and could've gotten on the list too, but I definitely prefer Fly Me To The Moon- which is why it takes my Number 10 spot.

《9- One Winged Angel (Final Fantasy VII)》

I haven't finished Final Fantasy 7 on my Switch yet, far from it in fact, but God knows we need more FF music in Smash Bros. Like gee Square, I know Cloud's not extra money this time but 2 songs and no Spirits? I hope we get a new FF rep in Fighter 2 to make up for this, even if it costs us characters like Geno. Oh yeah, One Winged Angel. This theme is awesome and extremely iconic. To be honest, even after hearing the incredible Remake version, I still somewhat prefer the original. It definitely gets an honourable mention though, alongside the Remake version of Bombing Mission, which also deserves to be in.

《8- Medusa's Final Battle (Kid Icarus)》

I love Kid Icarus Uprising. It's one of my favourite 3DS games out there. It may be a "one hit wonder" for the franchise, but I would love a sequel. Also Hades in Smash please Sakurai, one of my favourite villains in video games. The song I chose for this list is Medusa's Final Battle from Kid Icarus Uprising. It's a great boss theme and fits great with the already incredible OST. I'm surprised it's not already in Smash in all honesty. My honourable mentions for this spot are Boss Fight 2 and the Staff Roll theme.

《7- Bede's Battle Theme (Pokémon)》

This is probably inevitable, since a Pokémon from Sword and Shield is most likely going to be in Fighter Vol 2. But that doesn't stop the music from slapping. My personal choice would be Bede's Battle Theme, since he was my favourite out of the three rivals in the game and in my opinion his theme is the best. Good old Rebellio Jr, having an awesome theme. Most of you probably won't get that, but hey, I'm sure someone will. Honourable mentions for Sword and Shield are Marnie League Battle, Hop League Battle and finally Gym Leader Theme. Here's hoping all of these songs get in with the extremely likely new Pokémon DLC Fighter.

《6- Twilight Of The Gods (Fire Emblem)》

This not being in Ultimate is criminal. Echoes has so few tracks in the game and it's a real shame, since it has some amazing tracks that would be great in Smash. These tracks include the final boss map theme, Twilight Of The Gods. Such an epic theme deserves a Smash inclusion, even if there's no Alm or Celica fighter to go with it. Some honourable mentions are The Mad God's Blessing, The Heritors Of Arcadia and a remixed version of A Song For Bygone Days.

《5- Blooming Villain (Persona)》

The first of the Persona songs on my list is Blooming Villain, the main boss theme for the Palace rulers in Persona 5. Once the beat drops, it really drops, as it draws you into the fight as the Phantom Thieves are finally ready to take on the blooming villain in the palace. And while there's a certain someone I know who isn't a fan of Persona 5 songs, give this one a listen if you haven't already, hopefully you'll enjoy this one. Honourable mentions for this slot are Will Power from Persona 5, and Pull The Trigger from Persona Q2, which would play on the Persona 3 version of Mementos.

《4- Black And White Credits (Pokémon)》

Oh boy I get to talk about the glory that is Gen 5 music. Well basically, it slaps harder than probably any other generation of Pokémon. Despite being the most controversial generation (well, at the time. Gen 8 may be more controversial now), most people can agree on how great the music is. I would've loved for Unova to get its own Fighter rep, as a handful of the Pokémon in that generation would've made for really cool and unique characters, though in reality we would've gotten Zoroark, which I would be fine with, it's a cool Pokémon. The credits theme is probably my favourite track from the game and possibly my favourite theme in the whole Pokémon franchise, maybe bar one honourable mention I'm going to make here. Said honourable mention is Red and Lance's Theme from Heart Gold and Soul Silver, however I feel like the BW credits theme would probably work better in the environment of Smash, so I kept this one to just a mention. Other mentions are Pokémon World Tournament Finals from Black and White 2, as well as the Team Plasma Grunt theme from the original Black and White.

《3- Star In The Morning Sky (Fire Emblem)》

Fire Emblem Three Houses is an incredible game. If you haven't played it already, play it right now. As happy as I was with Byleth's inclusion in Ultimate, I felt like the music selection left out some key tracks from the game. One of these is A Star In The Morning Sky, the credits theme from the game. It's such a beautiful song, transitioning from several different themes from Three Houses and finally into an amazing rendition of the original Fire Emblem series theme, I love this track so much. My honourable mentions are God Shattering Star, A Funeral Of Flowers, The Long Road and Indomitable Will. That's a lot of tracks, isn't it? There are plenty more in Three Houses, but I'll try to avoid putting too many here. (Also experience them for yourselves, have I said it's a great game yet?).

《2- Life Will Change (Persona)》

This is probably my favourite track in all of Persona 5, and they even used it in Joker's reveal trailer, but somehow it didn't get into the game. My guess is it used the word crippled once in the entire song, but honestly I don't see why they couldn't include the instrumental if it's that big of a deal. Either way, this is one of the most exciting, blood pumping themes I've ever heard. It gets you hype for the battle up ahead as you inflitrate that 99% security palace. It makes you feel like it's about to go down- and hoo boy it does. This song doesn't even have lyrics until you get to the Casino palace calling card, where you finally get to hear them for the first time. It's an amazing moment, not one that I personally experienced since I listened to Life Will Change before playing Persona 5, but a great one nonetheless that you can see in people's reactions to it. Honourable mentions are I Believe from Persona 5 Royal, and The Whims Of Fate from the Casino palace in P5.

Before we go to Number 1, I'd like to point out a few more honourable mentions that weren't included beforehand because they weren't linked to other entries on the list (eg- how Bombing Mission was linked to One Winged Angel).

Maybe it could be remixed and mixed with the Night riding theme from BotW? It's a nice theme and could fit really well in Smash if it got remixed.

《1- Don't Speak Her Name! (Fire Emblem)》

This theme is probably my favoruite piece of music in not just video games, but of all time. Hearing this for the first time in Awakening was stellar and it hits in the feels especially considering where and when it plays. Having to fight and kill Mustafa was also really tragic, espcially when characters like Gangrel live and can be recruited. This would be a remixed track, except this time I have an actual remix I'd like to use as an example. This is the version from the Fire Emblem Arrange 2. They turned an already incredible theme into something even more epic and something that would now fit really well in Smash Bros. A shame it came too late I suppose. Some other Awakening themes that I would enjoy are Mastermind and Rival, but honestly they would pale in comparison to Don't Speak Her Name. That's all for my Top 10 Music Tracks for Smash Ultimate.
