Hey guys, I was trying to think of some original post ideas when I started wondering what another Pokemon Trainer would be like. For this post I'm going to be talking about the Pokemon already in Smash (not count Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard since they are the original Pokemon Trainer characters.) so don't worry this isn't just gonna be another movese-
Uhh, anyways... I'm going to go over all the points I would take into consideration when making a new Pokemon Trainer then make my own at the end of the post.
Instead of trying to make the best Pokemon Trainer possible, I am going to try and make one that I think would make the most sense in Smash. I'm 99.9% sure they wouldn't make a new Pokemon Trainer though, I just thought this could be interesting.

Down B

Of course Pokemon can't have a down special, since it gets replaced with the Pokemon switch. (Rip Charizard's rock smash.) While I don't think Sakurai and his team would think about the characters down b's being changed too much I'm a competitive tryhard so while it won't really affect my decision, I'll still cover how losing their down special will affect the characters I chose for my Pokémon Trainer.
The down b change will affect certain Pokemon more than others, it could be a really bad change if their normal down b is good, or not that big of a deal if their down b is almost unusable.
Evolution

If you've played a Pokemon game before, you proooobably know that there are three stages of evolution in total. The first is the weakest, middle evolutions are stronger and the final stage is the strongest.
No, I didn't forget about Mega Evolutions I just wanted to see if anyone would get annoyed.
Pokemon trainer has Squirtle, who is the first stage evolution, Ivysaur as the middle evolution and Charizard as the final. They also even have the strengths of the stages of evolution. Squirtles attacks are weak, Ivysaurs are pretty strong and charizards hit like a truck.
Even though Ivysaur can still kill at like -10%, Charizard has slower but stronger attacks okay I KNOW HE'S BAD AND IVYSAUR IS GOOD I MAIN THE CHARACTER SJAJAKKAAIIAAKANEA.
I'll be following this 3 stage evolution format most of the time, so spoiler alert Mewtwo will not be in my Pokemon Trainer since he's a Legendary. Speaking of how the evolutions affect the Pokemon in Smash...
Weight

Pokemon's weight in Smash isn't fully based off of their weight in Pokemon, for example Mewtwo is actually really heavy in Pokemon but it is a featherweight in Ultimate.
With this in mind, there is still a pattern. Squirtle the first stage pokemon is light, Ivysaur the mid stage pokemon is a middleweight and Charizard is a super heavyweight. This is something I'll be keeping in mind too.
My new Pokemon Trainer: 1st Pokemon
With everything I previously mentioned, I think Jigglypuff would be the most suitable first Pokemon, and will be the only exception to the evolution format since it is a middle stage evolution. Before I go over why I chose Jiggs, first I'll go over why Pichu is also a good choice but why I ulitmately decided against choosing him.

Pichu meets all the requirements. He is extremely light and a first stage Pokemon. She is also small, which isn't necessary but it is another thing in common with Squirtle.
Speaking of what Pichu has in common with Squirtle, it, like Squirtle, has really solid early percent combos that do nice damage. They can't kill that good though.
BUT BISMUTH! PICHU HAS BACK AIR, FORWARD TILT AND THUN-
Woah chill, the whole down b section? If Pichu was a part of Pokemon Trainer, it would have it's down b changed to Pokemon switch. This leaves it with back air and forward tilt, which are okay but killing would probably be a bit hard. You also have smash attacks. Then there is also edge guarding which Pichu is good at, but by killing I mean strong attacks on stage.
One negative to Pichu is its self-damage. With Pokemon Trainer, you usually use whatever character fits your percent: the first Pokemon at early percents, the second at mid and the final at high. Self damage would slightly affect what percents you would change at, but I am aware it wouldn't make a big difference.
Buuuut there's a different reason I decided against Pichu that you'll have to wait to find out.
Also, I called Pichu a he, she it and even they so I've either pissed off everyone or no-one.
Right, now onto who I actually chose; Jigglypuff.

Jigglypuff is very similar to Pichu and Squirtle, with the size, weight, etc. There's no point mentioned the Pokemon's stages anymore because I'm sure you get the point by now, whatever I choose is going to be the same stage as the Pokemon it's replacing.
Jiggs struggles killing more than Pichu which isn't a good thing, but when it comes to the first Pokemon it actually is. The final Pokemon is the heavy hitter. While Jigglypuff doesn't have the best combo game, if you get an up tilt or falling up air you can get some decent damage.
There is one absolutely awful thing about this happening though. Jigglypuff would... Well she'd... I can't say it.
She'd lose re-... res-... You know, the down b. Jiggs down special is a big reason I main the character. It isn't that good of a move but it is sooo satisfying to land, especially off stage. It was also really good for killing if you could hit it. If you missed it though, yikes. You'd eat a Smash attack to your innocent little cranium.
Oh, and this decision is main bias.
I MEEEAN ONTO THE MIDDLE STAGE.
My new Pokemon Trainer: 2nd Pokemon

This is why I didn't choose Pichu, since him and Pika are extremely similar and it would probably be boring to play as with 2 characters with very similar moves.
Yeah, Pikachu was the only middle stage Pokemon I could choose after already using Jigglypuff, but I think he (I'll just say he for simplicity) actually fits perfectly. Of course there is the weight, but there is a lot more.
For starters, (no Poke-pun intended) Ivysaur has good combos. If you have played as Pikachu before I'm sure you'll be aware of his combo potential. Then, there's pretty good kill power. Both of these characters are pretty good with killing, ivysuar having up air, down air, smashes, up b, so basically uhh.
Everything.
And Pikachu having back air and down air off stage, and some pretty good Smash attacks. I would mention thunder but I already went over that with Pichu. Both of the characters are also good at edge guarding and have great projectiles. I mean they're even both starter Pokemon. Speaking of starter Pokemon... (I need to stop making segways)
My new Pokemon Trainer: 3rd Pokemon

As you can see by the picture up there ^, for the final stage Pokemon I decided on Incineroar. Another fire starter with a bad recovery as the last Pokemon, but that isn't why I chose him.
Incineroar is THICC :ok_hand: :joy: (sorry I ran out of ways to call characters heavy without just blatantly calling them fat cunt).
Like I mentioned earlier, the final stage Pokemon are hard hitters. Charizard has strong Smash attacks, flare blitze, back air, up throw especially on platforms and more ways to get that kill. Incineroar is no different.
He can use his smashes, f tilt, back air, side b and oh, did I mention he has the strongest back throw in the game?
Incinowor (I'm not sorry for that one) also had revenge. This move could get you kills at stupidly early percents but it was punishable if you didn't get hit using it. Losing this move sucks, but for players who used it at the wrong time and ended up getting f smashed all the time it could be a blessing in disguise.
Just like the big flaming lizard, Incineroar is preeetty slow. While this is a bad thing, the final Pokemon is mainly used just to get that kill when you need it, so you won't be using them too much.
I could have chosen Greninja, but I felt like he didn't have the kill power and is more of a combo and neutral kind of character. While I think he is definitely better than Incineroar, in of how he would work as the final Pokemon in Pokemon Trainer Incineroar seems like the better option.
Extra

This part is just going to be some additional information I couldn't make their own sections.
Does the game plan change?
Kind of. Jigglypuff can camp with back airs so sometimes it may be better to use Jiggs instead of incineroar to get kills depending on the matchup. The downside of this is that Jigglypuff dies extremely early.
Pikachu has a great combo game, so you can use him at lower percents. This is also a thing with Ivysaur, but I feel like it would be more common with Pika due to the fact Jiggs combo game isn't the best.
Other than that though, I feel like it's pretty much the same. Using the characters roughly based off of you and your opponents percents.
Swede Swap

This is a tech that reduces the time it takes to switch Pokemon. Usually, if you switch a Pokemon out you have to wait 3 seconds before you can do it again. If you do a different special move, Pokemon Trainer's animation gets interrupted and after the special finished you can swap again. I'll quickly go over these characters special and how effective the would be.
Jigglypuff: Up b. Don't bother.
Jigglypuff: Neutral b. Still don't bother.
Jigglypuff: Side b. Pound is actually good for this, it doesn't take too long so it's worth it if you have the time.
Pikachu: Up b. This would work if you just up b and hold down to minimize the time it takes.
Pikachu: Neutral b. This is a really good move to use for Swede Swap, because it is a projectile and is fast.
Pikachu: Side b. I doubt this would be useful unless maybe you're off stage?
Incineroar: Up b. This isn't worth it.
Incineroar: Neutral b. Again, not worth it.
Incineroar: Side b. His best option, but still probably only good if your opponent just died or are on the other side of the stage.
Aaand that is going to do it for this post. I've got more content on the way I'm just trying to get some really unique ideas and put a ton of time and effort into them so yeah. (Not that my older posts were rushed, I just had a bunch of motivation and ideas.)
Anyways,
Bi.

I think Mew2 can be a featherweight 'cause he can change his weight with his mind...
