TC | Round 5 | Western

So for this round, we had to portray the Western Era. I can't lie, I was at a loss at first because I didn't want to be too generic with my outfits. I also tried to think outside of the box which didn't end up too well for me. But, I finally was able to decide where I wanted to go with this round after much deliberation.

Outfit 1

Red Dress, red gloves, black boots, no makeup

For this dress, I went more for a noble woman of the time (I really hope that this dress is from the right era). I wanted to portray a woman of wealthy background, one that probably is a stay at home mother or a single woman looking to marry.

I chose to go with no makeup since not much makeup would be worn around this time. And honestly, makeup was taboo for proper women. I kept her hair a natural brown with the front pieces braided and pulled back. I think it was an elegant choice to tie the whole outfit and idea together.

Outfit 2

Bedazzled bra, black underwear with chaps, black cowboy boots, black cowboy hat

Dark brown smokey eye, black winged eyeliner, red lipstick

Sooooooo, I went a bit more... risque with this one. I mean, why not? The inspiration for this outfit kind of came from my Sims 3 game play where I just had a bachelorette party and the "male entertainment" came to the party. I see this outfit being like a showpiece for any occasion you please. I just couldn't resist when I saw it honestly.

I felt like this outfit deserved a full glam look. It's not really "traditional" western. More like kinky roleplay and I definitely wanted all the glam for the makeup.

Outfit 3

Red Flannel with a grey undershirt, denim jeans with a belt, brown boots, brown cowboy hat

This look is a more modern look. This is kind of what a picture nowadays when I think of western. I kept the outfit comfortable and simple. I think that this is probably my favorite outfit just because of it's comfort level while also being stylish.

As for makeup, I kept it minimal. Honestly, I'd classify it as a "no makeup" look but in all technicalities, she has eye shimmer and lip gloss on. I enjoy the no makeup look as well with this style. I feel like makeup isn't needed. I also put her hair in braids because I thought they were cute and tied the whole look together.

A Day in the Life...

Rather than doing a diary and doing the "Day in the Life of a Fashionista During This Era," I just chose to opt out of the diary this round

Living as a fashionista in this time would be interesting, yet not too far from what we know today. Gambling and saloons were pretty popular at the time which could translate to modern day casinos and bars. Prostitution was very common as well, especially in the saloons.

I mean, as far as life for a fashionista would go, I think that many days would be spent inside a saloon as it is more of a place to express myself. Among proper women, makeup and dyed hair is rare and frowned upon. I wouldn't necessarily be selling myself in the saloon like some women might no matter how poor I was. But in a saloon, makeup, hair, and self expression through clothing wasn't so limited.

I can't ever see myself fighting for a man's attention. I don't need to be saved or taken care of. If another woman would like to fight for a man, literally, by all means, she can go ahead, but I would never. I think saloon life would be more about making friends and enjoying myself than trying to attract any sort of attention.

I can also see myself living on a ranch, tending to animals and raising them. I've always loved animals. Being able to care for animals would be such a treat honestly. In spare time, I think it would be amazing to take photos for shoots in the open fields and in town. The architecture of buildings during the time was extraordinary, at least to me. And being able to take photos in nature would be so beautiful.

I think in of living, it would be so nice to live in a place without large buildings and streets. Just the open land would be so refreshing.
