edition is teen!lock, where the

character's are or have to relate

themselves with adolescent

matters.

Description: The theme was Teen!Sherlock. I looked up young Sherlock and found a whole movie I had no idea existed. I went more a simple route with this edit and I think it went well? I was gunna make a MCR reference but I held back :fist: 🤧. Hope ya like it !

The warm, summer night was beautiful, perfect even, and John and Sherlock were lounging outside on a blanket, enjoying the fresh air. John was sprawled out on his back on a soft blanket, and Sherlock was laying perpendicular to him, head resting on John’s stomach. They had made a fire before the day turned to night, and they were still bathing in the soft glow of the flickering flames.

They had been talking about anything and everything together, their conversation flowing freely from topic to topic. John spoke about his sister Harry and how he wished that he could help her, even though she despised anyone giving her help. Sherlock talked about how he wished that his brother Mycroft would leave him alone for just a little bit, because he was responsible enough to take care of himself and live his own life. They both listened intently to the other.

They got on the topic of university and what they really wanted to do when they were older. John discovered that Sherlock, despite thinking of going to Uni for chemistry, really wanted to be a detective when he was older. “A consulting detective, John. I’d invent the career,” he said proudly, gazing up at the starry sky, his eyes twinkling. John smiled and laughed, then told Sherlock that he wanted to be a doctor. Sherlock knew already, of course, but John told him anyways, not ready to reveal his plans to the army to his friend yet. This moment was happy, best not meddle with that.

Silence stretched on for a minute before John cleared his throat and asked, “So… as long as I’ve known you, you’ve never had a girlfriend, have you? Is there a certain reason for that?” John asked, resting the back of his head on his folded arms. Sherlock cleared his throat and dug his feet into the grass.

“Well, um, girlfriends aren’t… girlfriends aren’t really my area, John. If you get what I mean,” Sherlock said awkwardly, running his fingers through the grass. Not really his area? Girlfriends? What does that even… oh. OH. John’s face turned bright red, and he was thankful for the darkness that hid it from his friend.

“I’m so sorry Sherlock, I hadn’t realized that you weren’t into women. Christ, this is embarrassing,” John said, laughing a little bit at his own stupidity. “Well, if it makes you feel any better, I’m a closeted bisexual. You’re, uh, the first person I’ve ever told. So… yeah. Sorry. Thank you for telling me though.” John cleared his throat awkwardly and the silence returned for a bit, until Sherlock broke it again.

“Thank you for trusting me enough to tell me, John. I had an inkling that you were bisexual, but I didn’t want to say anything. I knew you would want to bring it up in your own time,” Sherlock said quietly, resting a hand on John’s knee. “If we’re telling each other secrets right now, well, I- I have something to tell you. Something I’ve never told anyone.” Sherlock’s voice was still quiet, and John could tell by his tensing muscles that he was nervous.

“Go ahead Sherlock, you can tell me anything. I won’t judge you, I promise,” John said in what he hoped was a reassuring voice. Sherlock took a deep breath.

“I’m… I’m asexual,” Sherlock said, his voice in a near-whisper. John’s brain stalled for a minute, trying to what asexuality was. Asexual… that’s the one where people don’t feel the need to have sex with people? No, no, wait, it’s the lack of sexual attraction to other people, yeah? Why was he scared to it that?

“That’s okay, Sherlock, why were you scared to tell me that? It’s fine, it’s all fine. What you do with your body is your decision. What does it matter to me if you don’t feel sexual attraction towards people? I still care about you,” John said, dropping a hand into Sherlock’s hair without even thinking about it. Sherlock hummed happily, but John could still tell that there was disbelief hiding somewhere in Sherlock’s mind. “Hey, I told you it’s completely fine. What’s going on in that big brain of yours?” John asked softly.

Sherlock sat up suddenly, and before John could ask him what was wrong, he turned slightly, yanked John up by the collar of his shirt, and pressed their foreheads together, breathing deeply. “I’m thinking about whether you would care about my asexuality if we were in a relationship or not, because… well, I think I love you John.” Sherlock’s back was to the fire, but John had no doubt that Sherlock’s face was burning, just like his was. “May I kiss you?” John found that he couldn’t speak, so he simply nodded and let his eyes slip shut.

The kiss was a quick one, a small press of lips, but John felt giddyness ri in him like a flood. Giggles burst through his lips before he could even think about holding them back, and Sherlock ed his laughing soon after. They stayed like that for a few minutes before they exhausted themselves, slumping against each other tiredly, silly grins on their faces. “I love you, Sherlock Holmes,” John said. “I love you and your asexuality. I love you and your dream to become a consulting detective. I love you.” Grabbing each other's hands, they laid down and basked in the firelight together.

John knew things couldn’t stay perfect. It was their last year in school together, and they were going to go to different colleges. John was planning on ing the army in the future, and he still hadn’t told Sherlock. Not everything was going to stay as perfect as things felt in that moment, but John was ready. He was ready to face the difficulties, if it meant he got to be with his best friend Sherlock Holmes for the rest of his life.
