crack the case :dash:

At 10 pm last night the Central Aquarium busted its glass in the sharks’ section.

The glass busted from the top in the famous shark tunnel, which visitors could walk through and watch the sharks slide their stomachs over the top, gracefully dance along the sides, and watch as sharks swam below their feet.

When the water flooded down, exactly 23 sharks got sucked out and were left struggling for breath on the floor.

This was a month after the exhibit first opened.

The scene was discovered by the janitor when he came around to clean up a small spill around 9:55 pm. The water cascaded on top of him, he claims.

The broken glass got swept out and nobody can tell what caused the glass to break: the architects had designed the glass case to be able to hold all the pressure and stay stable for many years forward.

There are no cameras in the shark tunnel, and there is only one piece of evidence: two trails of wet footprints leading away from the scene and then back to it.

The only motive you can imagine is another aquarium in town trying to put this one out of business.

You note that the janitor cleans in all the aquariums in the city.

What exactly happened?

take your guess in the comment section.

this (very cool) drawing was inspired by my biology class and a wandering mind while I was supposed to be doing my work. I did it with lined paper, a blue pen and ten minutes or so of not paying attention in class - jimmy

(** TEH does not condone not paying attention in class, get your education please and thanks. **)

story one 🌪

Space. The very notion of the thing was wonderful, wasn’t it? John Watson certainly thought so.

Millions of light years of stars, planets, and of beauty. A vast, infinite space, still mostly unexplored to this day, and humans got the opportunity to stare at it every single night. Amazing when you think about it, huh?

Sherlock, on the other hand, didn’t see the appeal of space. Sure, it was nice to look at, and there was a lot of unexplored stuff out there, but why does it concern the inhabitants of earth? There were so many things still unexplained on earth that needed more attention than those planets did. The information about the solar system and the Milky Way just took up too much space in his mind; he needed that room for important things. Well, until that happened.

John and Sherlock had been sitting outside together, having polite conversation while they were on a case in the countryside. The sky was clear that night, and the air was refreshingly clean, a big contrast to the smog-filled atmosphere that they were used to in London. They had been talking about nothing of great interest—maybe just some peculiarities of the case—when John stopped talking to stare at Sherlock, a look of utter awe on his face.

Sherlock opened his mouth to ask John what was wrong, but gasped instead when one of John’s hands gripped Sherlock’s chin softly, turning his head slightly. John’s cheeks flushed pink with joy, a grin making its way onto his face. Sherlock raised his eyebrows in a questioning glance, trying to ignore the way his heart was pounding in his chest. John chuckled and squeezed his eyes shut, opening them a fraction of a second later to grin at Sherlock again.

“Sherlock,” John said, sounding breathless, “you look like you’ve got the entire universe in your eyes. I can see every little star, every single swirl in there. It’s gorgeous. You’re gorgeous.” Sherlock’s face flushed bright red, sure that Watson could feel the heat rushing to his face under his calloused, strong hands. John pulled Sherlock’s face closer and closer to his until their foreheads were resting together, John still staring in awe at Sherlock’s galaxy-filled eyes.

“Did you know, Sherlock,” John said, still sounding breathless, “that I always see the entire universe in your eyes? Everytime I look at you, you take my breath away because of those stars that I see. There are thousands, especially when you’re on a case, and I find myself wishing I could sit and count them all.” John ended in a whisper, brushing his thumb over Sherlock’s prominent cheekbone. Sherlock closed his eyes and relished in the soft physical touch; he didn’t know where it came from, but he couldn’t find any reasons to complain. In fact, he had been waiting for this.

“It would be illogical to try to count them all John, you would lose count near one hundred,” Sherlock murmured, pressing his face into John’s warm, comforting hand. John giggled, and Sherlock’s heart soared in his chest. His brain kicked into gear without any input, and suddenly he was saying: “I’m in love with you.” He didn’t even care that it slipped out; he had kept the fact hidden for too long.

“I know,” John replied, his grin evident in his voice. Sherlock, jerked his eyes open, his face bright red. John laughed and pressed a finger to his lips. “We can talk about it later. Let’s just. . . enjoy the moment. Please?” Sherlock was helpless to resist that please. He was never able to say no to it, and there wasn’t a big chance that he would be able to anytime soon.

As they laid down side by side on the ground, they stared up at the sky together. The swirling galaxy waited above them, so large and mysterious, but also lovely and comforting. The shining stars filled them with awe, banishing any bad emotions that they might have been holding in their hearts. The case wasn’t in the forefront of their minds either. At that moment, they were alone with the vast sky and each other. And as Sherlock stared at the stars in wonder, he decided that they were beautiful. Making a room in his mind palace for that moment, he knew that he would cherish it till he died.

story two ☄

John Watson couldn’t call himself a stargazer, but he indeed used to look up to the incredible star filled sky, and tried to forget anything else.

The stars had always been a constant in his life. Even from a young age.

As a bullied child, he’d climb to his house’s roof and try to find as many constellations as he could, through those teary eyes.

After Afghanistan, the need to stargaze came back stronger than ever.

Those shiny dots in the sky floored him. Kept him from spiraling.

He re the countless nights where the routine was always the same: Open the window quickly to stare at the stars, wait till his breathing was even, and then, with a sigh, pull out his constellations book, prepared to spend another sleepless night.

And now, when that need was gone, he’d look up, and feel how melancholy spread like a stain in his chest.

He knew he used to search for comfort in them, but now, the stars only reminded him of what he’d gone through.

Sherlock Holmes, had also as a child spent hours and hours without end staring at the stars.

He was a keen stargazer. You could have told by the telescope sitting next to his window, and the countless astronomy books in his nightstand.

Sherlock knew every constellation ever discovered, and all the chemical and physical characteristics of those gas balls far in the distance.

However, this interest had sad origins. For Sherlock related to the stars in the deepest way.

He could relate to those shiny spots in the night because he knew how stars were alone in space, billions of light years away from their sisters. And that’s how the young Holmes felt, as he sat in one of the tombs in his garden, arms wrapped around himself, a book resting in his lap.

As he grew, he stopped looking up to the stars, and eventually, those memories faded away, but the feeling stayed. That stinging feeling in his heart, and a wave of loneliness that rushed over him, that made his head snap away and tear his gaze from the sky.

But now, Sherlock and John lay in the roof of their building, taking advantage of the massive power outage Westminster has suffered.

As their hands interlaced, and they stared silently and the beautiful sight the milky way was, the stars held a new meaning for both men.

Because they both knew that now the stars didn’t mean “I”, with that lonely connotation, but they meant “us” instead.
