During the winter of 1952, British authorities entered the home of mathematician, cryptanalyst and war hero Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) to investigate a reported burglary. They instead ended up arresting Turing himself on charges of ‘gross indecency’, an accusation that would lead to his devastating conviction for the criminal offense of homosexuality – little did officials know, they were actually incriminating the pioneer of modern-day computing. Famously leading a motley group of scholars, linguists, chess champions and intelligence officers, he was credited with cracking the so-called unbreakable codes of 's World War II Enigma machine.

The Imitation Game is a film about a human calculator which feels... a little too calculated. It's not that Alan Turing's life isn't teeming with interest or cinematic possibilities. And a hard-working, hard-thinking Benedict Cumberbatch does everything that this role, as scripted, could possibly demand of him. Somehow, though, this diligent mid-century biopic, with its cookie-cutter screenwriting and lacquered, nominate-me-for-everything sheen, manages to feel like a series of stories we've heard before, following the familiar contours of other films as if with tracing paper.

Without question, Cumberbatch is up to the task of bringing to life a complicated, brilliant man. Turing is multi-dimensional, his emotional depths layered. He is, by far, the best part of this enjoyable, if flawed, film. As entertainment, The Imitation Game has loads to recommend it: It's paced well, features strong performances from the ensemble, and does a fine enough job of explaining the ideas behind cryptology

My Opinions:
In my opinion, this is a great movie starring great actors. As you've already read above, this movie is about Alan Turing and how he broke enigma. It's a very enjoyable film to watch, that will definitely not make you bored. With a few touching moments, and with the important role Benedict Cumberbatch was given, it definitely turns into a movie that everyone should watch, and I'd give it :star: :star: :star: :star: stars out of :star: :star: :star: :star: :star: .
