With my birthday right around the corner, I decided to share something very personal with you all about me and my past and one of the main reasons why I’ve come to adoring and looking up to Selena and her music at such a young age. Please leave only kind comments.

Before you ask- YES I am making an entry for my own challenge :joy: only because I really wanted to express my opinion on a song that means the world to me. But this entry will obviously not count in the actual challenge. But anyways, I hope you guys enjoy my story and my expression through an edit and description about my one and only all time favourite song! Let’s get to it!

Where should I even start. The first time I heard this song was when I was only about 10 years old. The song brought music to my ears even at that young age. As I started to grow up I started realizing the meaning to this song and it really built a life long connection with my inner self. Growing up I wasn’t the most comfortable in how I looked- I had glasses and I always thought that I wasn’t beautiful enough for the society we were living in. I looked up to the other girls in my class, and being one of the few Indians in the class at that time- really brought out a what you can say “difference” between people In the class. I didn’t have much friends and I absolutely hated school. I used to get anxiety attacks, resulting In waiting hours and hours in hospital rooms for a doctor to see me. But while I was waiting I always sang this one song. Repeated it over and over, recited and memorized each and every word. It became my strength anthem. Who says brought out the confidence and self- love in me, taught me how to love myself unconditionally no matter what anyone thinks of me. I later moved schools again (at about the age of 12) which was the best decision ever, my new school was a door full of new opportunities. I didn’t get any anxiety attacks or cared what people think of me as much as I used to, because of this one song. I then knew what self- love felt like. But before that life was hard growing up and as a child it was difficult to easily adjust and change yourself to adapt and overcome. But with Selena’s song it really opened my eyes to something I will never forget. No other song spoke to me in this way- I will never forget it for the rest of my life and I will share this song for generations to come.
