› Asher tries to not socialize or get close with others, which he claims is because they slow down his work or they ruin his luck. Meanwhile in reality, he distances himself so that he doesn’t lose anyone dear to him again, because he’s certain he’d fall apart if that particular event repeated itself.

› Although Asher doesn’t trust people , he’s bound by his honor (and guilt) as the last Android of his line to fulfill his partner’s final request. It also doesn’t help that he’s acquired a reputation for being an AK-100 and having a high amount of missions under his belt.

› After the loss of Asher’s partner, he couldn’t help but feel constantly guilty for her death, asking questions such as “What if I hit more of my shots, or what if I jumped in the way of that knife?” These questions plagued his mind so much so that, in order to try and move on and not what happened , he painted his armor black, made his eyes red, and called the new paint job “Knight Fall”

Due to Asher not actually being able to feel anything, he claims that when he lays in the digital bed, it feels like he’s just floating in midair

» History

› The AK-100 line of Military grade robots were created about 20 years ago as a sort of Vanguard or recon sniper/infiltration unit of the Atlesian Military. Outfitted with experimental AI, these robots were sort of “ancestors” to all Androids, with the ability to reason, communicate freely, and even assess situations. While they were quite effective at what they did, the AK-100s were discontinued around 15 years ago, due to the AI being able to think for themselves, causing them to be prone to corruption and insubordination. One such AK-100, Model #4SH3R, was reactivated about 10 years ago in an experiment to see if they can can revitalize his line, and this, is his story

› The first thing 4SH3R ed was waking up in a pure white room, surrounded by the husks of various other AK-100 units, and a woman standing above him observing his body. Something was off, he knew it, but not even a diagnostics check showed anything. After asking what happened to him, and tried to break out of his restraints. The woman instructed him to calm down, and introduced herself as Julia Kaiser, an Atlesian Military scientist and huntress, and she just brought him back from the dead, and even gave him an upgrade. With 4SH3R clearly skeptical, she explained. She explained about the AK-100s’ deactivation, and the experiment she did, which was testing whether or not robots could interface with an artificial soul and new technology, essentially in order to make mass produced Huntsmen, hence why the other units were there, since they were failed attempts that either burned out trying to contain the soul, or self destructed out of pure spite of the Atlesian Military. When 4SH3R asked why not use something like the AK-130s, which he stated (reluctantly) were mechanically better than the AK-100s and due to the simpler AI, couldn’t disobey orders or commit treason, Julia simply replied “I have faith in old tech, and I have faith in you”

› When 4SH3R seemed to accept this explanation, she continued to explain the upgrades he was given. Mostly these upgrades were things such as more firewalls and such, but one stood out immensely, that being an Adaptive Absorption Generator Array, or as she calls it, the “Rigged Hand”. According to her, this array causes any elemental attack that 4SH3R is hit by to be absorbed, increasing his resistance to that element, and allowing his attacks to be charged with said element. After all that explanation, most of which 4SH3R wasn’t really listening to, Julia stated she was ordered to stay with him as a partner and observe how he acts, and that the first thing they should do as partners would be to get him an actual name. After a few terrible ideas (for example Bob and Jesse) they finally decided to stick with Asher, since it looks like his ID tag. After a few other activities (such as a makeover from the pale, Atlesian gray armor into Asher’s classic Sharktooth paint job and teaching Asher how to gamble) to get him more accustomed with his newfound individuality, they then set off to creating Asher a new weapon, and after some experimenting, they created a revolver/combat knife combo from the scraps of the other AK-100s, which he named “Gambler’s Backup”.

› Fast forward about 8 years (2 years before the present day), Asher and Julia have become quite effective as Atlas backed huntsmen, taking out Grimm, criminals, and bandits on numerous missions. One day, they got a mission to go undercover and take down an underground crime ring, which would be the last one they took together. Asher doesn’t what went wrong in the mission, but the outcome was burned into his head. Their cover was blown and a fight had broken out, he and Julia were surrounded and injured badly. Asher’s legs were seperated from his body, and Julia was stabbed in the gut. As she lay there, bleeding out, Asher clutched her hand, called for evac as fast as possible, and dragging her behind cover. While he was behind cover, Julia made him promise that if she didn’t make it, he’d go on without her, and keep fighting for what was right. She died shortly afterwards, and Asher just stopped fighting, at least, until he was shot in the back with a fire dust bullet. For a second, he thought that was it, he was dead, but then Julia’s words from when they first met rang through his head “I believe in old technology, and I believe in you!”, as he activated the Rigged Hand, the aura of his artificial soul coloring the flames gold as he rose. His hand combusted with the golden flames, and he grabbed his weapon along with Julia’s, their edges combusting as well. After the back-up arrived, they found Asher standing there, surrounded by ashes and various scorch marks

›On the ride back home, a soldier explained that it was too late for Julia. This event absolutely broke Asher. The person who created who he was today, who had his back for 8 straight years, was gone, and no amount of “double-or-nothing’s” would bring her back. He grieved immensely, painting his armor black, taking her weapon as his own, and inscribing “ Julia, the Promise” onto his hands. Like a child would, He socially shut down, not wanting to get close to anyone in case they left too. The only thing he kept doing through that rut in his life was working for the military, since he figured it was the best chance he had to fight for what was right, like he promised, plus Julia would’ve wanted him to stay

›Due to the change in leadership at shade academy, Asher has recently been assigned the “very important” (at least, according to his superiors) task of representing Atlas at the school, and making sure nothing goes wrong while the school is still being set up

As for the gladius, he picked it up from the corpse of his ex-partner, and he uses it to remind him of the promise he made to her

› Semblance Usage:

If Asher is hit with an elemental attack, his Adaptive Absorption Generator Array

Will increase his resistance to that element and all his attacks for about 10 minutes become charged with whatever element (with a 1.5x multiplier relative to what he absorbed) he got hit with, this includes dust elements such as gravity, air, fire, earth, etc. Also, due to his power source, Asher can push himself to double the output of the absorbed element, effectively making the multiplier 3x, but the duration and severity of the downsides are doubled as well, along with the 10 minute timer being cut in half (This effect is known as Double or Nothing). The downside being the fact that the semblance pushes his hardware to the absolute limit. His reaction time becomes much slower and he appears to act drunk, which he simply calls “having a bit too much to absorb”. In addition to this, he can only absorb one element at a time, and It also puts a major drain on his energy core, almost causing him to shut down if he doubles it.

There’s a couple special cases and rules in this semblance how ever, such as earth dust. Instead of generating attacks that integrate earth dust, he gains a thick protective armor, but due to limitations of his generator, he can’t double the output of earth dust. As for gravity, simply put, his attacks deal increased knock back, and Asher can sort of “grab” things at a distance of about 5 feet by altering gravity around his target, the bigger it is, the tougher it is to lift. (Essentially he uses the force, minus the force choking). For rules, Asher can continue to absorb the same element he’s using during the semblance in order to extend the 10/5 minute timer
