Izanami comes from Shinto mythology, originally one of the gods of creation alongside her husband Izanagi. Upon her death, Isanagi journeyed to Yomi, the underworld, only to find that Izanami had eaten of the underworld’s food, and couldn’t return to the land of the living. Izanagi attempted to bring her back, but upon lighting her comb as a torch, he saw how hideous she had become and fled. Izanami chased him in rage, but he escaped and rolled an immovable stone in front of the entrance, separating the lands of the living and the dead.

Pandafeche is a (relatively) more recent folklore from Italy, and as a result not as much is known about it. It is said that some people who experience sleep paralysis will see a cat-like witch attack them. This phenomenon obtained the name Pandafeche.
