It had gone wrong so quickly... So, so wrong... How could a simple hunt for a hollow go so wrong? Especially since he was alone while Rin had three other Shinigamis with him. They could be new to actual fights against the Hollows, but they trained for so long at the academy. How could this have happened?

Rin struggles to stand on his feet, using his blade to help him get up. His head was bleeding heavily, his entire body felt numb, he barely could keep his eyes open, even less to understand what's happening around him. Across his confusion, he could tell something was till going on. A blade, impact, rumble, a roar... So noisy, so chaotic... Yet, he stumbled upwards to keep fighting. His comrades needed him to keep fighting no matter what. He wasn't going to fail them when their lives we're on the line.

His willpower brought some energy to his battered body and he could now perceive his surroundings slightly better, although he wish he didn't. He heard the screams of a female. Kuroi's screams. His eyes perked up with his panic, Kuroi was grabbed by the hollow, who was crushing her within his giant hands. His hearing returned, he stood up and he prepared to run towards his friend, kicking more adrenaline within his being as he tried to run. Unfortunately, he fell to his knees as despite his mind's will, his body couldn't keep up anymore. Kuroi kept screaming as Rin tried and tried to stand up, grunting in pure anger at his inability to do anything. His wrath kept him going as he crawled, stumbled, anything to get closer. But it quickly turned into pure desperation as the young man saw the Hollow opening his mouth to devour the Shinigami within his hands. Run could only scream with all his might for it to stop as his mind prayed for every being in existence for to save his friend. He didn't care about his life, his past, nothing. Just Kuroi to be saved. But as the Shinigami only got closer to the Hollow's mouth, he could only cry in agony and hatred for himself for failing her.

Then the screams came... Of the Hollow.

Rin opened his eyes and saw that his prayers we're answered. The hollow's right arm was cut off! Making him release Kuroi! The beast backed away as he saw their savior holding an unconscious Kuroi on her arms. Focusing amidst his moistured eyes, he could see something he knew all too well. The Shihakushō uniform. It was another Shinigami! Raising his eyes, he saw a ponytail dancing in the wind, tied by flowers as the woman turned her gaze to him. But suddenly, the Hollow attacked, trying to crush them both with a powerful punch. Rin could only scream in fear as the dust raised. But to his surprise, he heard wooden footsteps behind him.

" Truly an unsightly view... Using the gate by themselves without authorization to the Living World... You're lucky I was working close by on a investigation. " Rin could only turn to see the woman's face after some effort. A hair over her head, green eye, but something that made his heart sink: Pity. Pure pity for their stupid reckless actions.

" This won't go without punishment... But for now, let me deal with that poor soul... " The woman laid down Kuroi next to him, and Rin could only feel relief for her. He cried and held her close as the woman stepped forward, a blade appearing from the long sleeve of her hand. The dust was settled now, and the hollow growled to the woman approaching him. It's size stilled fear within him even now, making him tremble as he held his friend. But the woman? Not a single sign of hesitation from her. Her posture was calm, elegant, focused, determined. She was fully confident of herself and her task: Purify the Hollow.

It was quicker than a flash and cleaner than the wind. The hollow laid down, his body cut in half and slowly dissipating. He was purified. And the woman now held her hands together in prayer for the poor being before returning to the duo.

" I already called backup to help you both. Please, don't ever do this again without a proper team ok? Next time, me or other Shinigami might not be close enough to help or worst, be too late. " With those words, the woman dissapeared in purple petals. As she had said, a small group of Shinigamis arrived and rescued them both. Rin knew the consequences of his actions and took full responsibility for it. But thanks to the mysterious woman who saved them, he strived to be better and returned to the academy to train even further.

Haruka means spring flower, spring fragrance, or distant, remote. while Ai can mean 愛 love, affection, or 藍 indigo. Born in Fukuoka, her parents decided to give her this name thanks to the joy she brought in their lives as well as the joy the blooming of flowers during the spring brought to the people of Fukuoka.

𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 — ; thirty six years old. (Looks eighteen because she died at that age.)

Ai's birth was like any other at the time. A huge celebration was prepared to celebrate it, which gathered some relatives. Baby Ai was really pampered and loved throughout her life.

Ai was always a ray of sunshine to those she loved. Having many friends and being a helpful and caring being to the neighborhood. On her new unlife, this didn't change as she now cares for the citizens of the Soul Society like a big mama bear.

𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 — ; Likes: Cooking, gardening, helping others, flowers. (Especially lilies). Dislikes: Rudeness, injustice, Hollows.

Goals: Help as many as she can; Fears: Insects, Hollows, failing; Habits: She always hums popular songs while cooking, showering, or tending to her make-up. She always visit children of the Soul Society on the Saturdays, tending to them and helping as she can. When scared, she tries to hide it, but her eyes always stay alert for it and she gets startled easily while alert.

Cooking and gardening was always a ion of Ai and this ion never faded. Years of practice and study made her a proficient chef and great gardener, although her fear of insects also remained just as strong, causing some funny scenes along the years to the Soul Society. She tends to bellies of Shinigamis on her restaurant, and the many Floras of her home and beyond on her free time. " I am perfectly average! " Is the answer Ai will playfully give you to some harmless teasing about her height. Her diet never made her grow a lot. (Not on height at least) but she never bothered about it. Despite not being tall, her body gets the attentive gaze of the ones who notice her curves...

Like all Shinigamis, Ai wears the Shihakushō (死覇装, Death-Conquering Robe) all the time. Although the uniform didn't stop her from making some "tweakings" of her own since she ed the Gotei 13. The sleeves of her haori are long enough to cover her hands and they contain drawn lilies that run to the shoulders, and her hakama has the drawing of purple petals on the exterior sides. When working on the world of the living, she wears casual clothes if necessary, varying according to the place and situation she's in. Apart from the outfits, she wears a hairclip of a flower on her hair, a memento from her parents, and ties her hair into a ponytail with a flowery mixed elastic bang created by her.

(Author's note: Despite incessant attempts to make a Shihakusho, I never got close to matching the uniform. That's why the Author asks to use your imagination on this situation for the sake of his sanity.)

Since her death and new life as a Shinigami, Ai had to deal with the fact she had to become a Shinigami and the loss of many comrades. Forced to accept this new reality was unfathomable, and it took many, many years of therapy and time for her to cope with it. Nowadays she still goes throw counseling and seeks to recover from her traumas the best way she can. Due to her lack of strength and endurance, Ai had to train what she was good at: Speed and precision. Ai focus on wearing down opponents, relying on dodging and quick strikes within openings to bring down her enemies like a poisonous hummingbird.

Shizukana sakura no kaika (Bloom of the serene sakura)

Wakagaeri no sakura ga saku (Bloom of the rejuvenating Sakura) ; 夜桜の花

Yozakura no hana (Bloom of the night Sakura)

Shizukana Sakura no Kaika. One of the first developed skills of Ai. It allows her to concentrate for a moment before moving faster than a blink. A highly powerful skill vital for her combat style.

Wakagaeri no Sakura ga saku. Ai concentrates and chants a small prayer for strength. This skill gives her some energy and heals small wounds. Can be used on allies as well.

Yozakura no Hana. Ai concentrates and releases an aura of pure serenity around her. Allies will be healed of mental conditions (Panic, terror, etc.) While enemies hesitate to strike, even if for a moment.

𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐬 — ; Good

Calm mind helps in battles; Intelligence ; Experience of age.

Ai is known for her incredible agility and careful observation of her allies, making sure no ones dies under her watch. Her is outmatched only by her beautiful grace and serenity against enemies. Many consider her fighting like a mourning dance, as she sends her last wishes for them to find peace...

Lacks strength ; can struggle with multiple enemies ; selfless mindset can make her reckless.

Ai can be a speed fighter, but her endurance is pretty much nonexistent as even a lowly hollow can injury her easily. Her lack of strength also makes fighting difficult against tougher or multiple opponents, made harder if she has companions to tend for, as she can be pretty reckless to protect them.

A Ninjato that was with Ai since her starting days at the academy. It is engraved with a beautiful pattern of kanjis on its blade, while the handle and rope being purple, the scabbard is black with golden pattens. The blade has seen more ugliness than beauty along the years though.

Ai still didn't learn the name of her blade, making the Shikai impossible to be used.

Ai's relationship with Hachidori is complicated to explain to anyone. Two sides of the same coin, a reflection in the mirror, two edges of the blade. The duo is quite talkative and on good , even though Ai barely hears him for now and still sees him as an extension of her power instead of a part of herself. Time is necessary for growth like any other Shinigami and their blade, but the speed which it takes to show results is still a mystery for the duo.

Meditation was a always a good way to attain internal peace and make mends with the past. It was a ritual for thousands on the world of living and thousands on Soul Society. Ai never missed her regular meditations since she graduated from the academy a few days ago. She sat on her living room, all set and prepared to start another meditation hour when she heard a knock on her door.

" One second! " She spoke to her guest as she quickly got up and walked to the door. To her surprise, it was Lieutenant of the forth division. That was the first time she ever received a visit a Gotei, not that she ever expected to receive one on the first place. Ai made way for the Lieutenant without saying a word, the lieutenant excusing himself inside her apartment.

" Would you like some tea sir? It's been some time since I made it, but it's still pretty fresh. " The man nodded and thanked her for her offer as he kneeled, sitting on top of his own legs on the living room as Ai prepared the tea and brought it to him.

" Thanks. " The man was stoic, but not authoritarian on his tone. Ai mimicked his stance, sitting down right in front of him.

" What can I help you with Sir? " She asked. The man took a sip from the tea and looked outside to the sunny day before looking back at her.

" Haruka Ai. You're now a officer of the Forth division. You'll be starting your new duties on Monday after reporting to the Captain. " Ai looked at the man and blinked some times, frozen in place. A promotion? For her? Sure, she trained a lot but she had just left the academy...

"Sir, i-"

" That's all. I'll be taking my leave now. We expect great things from you. " The man got up and walked to the door, Ai following her after a moment of reflection and opening the door for him. The Lieutenant left without any further comments, leaving a dumbstruck Ai by the door thinking about what had just happened.
