”knock knock knock”

the voice calls out, gently tapping their fist against the door.

silence

”knock knock knock”

they repeat, louder and more sternly than before, hitting the door more forcefully. Piper stared out of the window, just watching the man below as he spoke his actions, everything but breaths. When he clenched his fist, he would say so. When he took a step back and looked around, he was say so. Piper watched the man curiously, confused yet extremely intrigued, it was unlike anything she had seen before.

”open door with force”

he smiled as he slammed down on the door handle violently over and over, pulling it up and down and trying to pull it off. Piper begun to panic and immediately grasped her phone, she dialled 911.

”hello, a man I’ve never seen before is trying to break into my home.”

she started, over the phone, the person would ask what the noises of banging were in the distance, Piper was instructed to not hang up, but lock her bedroom door, so she did so. She placed the phone on her drawer and walked to her bedroom door, she sighed lightly and turned the small knob to lock it. However, she knew that the small lock wouldn’t stop the mysterious man, if he could break down a locked front door, he could break down a dainty wooden door like hers. She heard footsteps arise, approaching at a rapid speed. And then, they stopped. Everything was almost silent, apart from the wailing sirens in the distance and the train rolling across the tracks. Piper sat down on her bed, anxiously watching the door. The sirens grew further. There was a lot of crime in the area, so clearly it was for someone else’s problem, she’d have to wait longer. She heard very distant mutters.

”open door, look for Piper.”

the phone operative must have heard it too, otherwise she wouldn’t of asked.

”Is that you? Are you Piper?”

”Yes, I am.”

Piper responded quietly, hoping not to alert the man. The actions repeated, getting closer to her bedroom door.

”open door, door locked, knock knock knock.”

the voice spoke as he raised his fist to knock on the door.

”knock knock knock.”

Piper heard the sirens wailing once again, she ran to her window as they pulled up directly outside her home. Thugs from the houses ran inside. Noises of Cops arresting the man slowly occurred, and the door was knocked on once more.

”Hello, I am an officer of the law, the man is detained, you may come out now, mind I ask you some questions.”

Piper knew it was a cop from the beginning, the voice was different, this cop was female. Piper opened the door and looked up to the officer, suddenly she felt a pounding in her skull, so painful it felt like a punch in the brain.

”knock knock knock”
